SUMMARY:OH: Ohio Winter RoadRally
DESCRIPTION:Neohio Region\, SCCA invites you to enter the 2025 Ohio Winter Rally (OWR) on February 1! This annual hivernal tour of the Lake Erie “snowbelt” counties of far northeastern Ohio dates back to at least 1966. It was one of the core events of the long-lamented Ohio Rally Championship (ORC) series. \n\n\n\nCompetitors can expect an absolutely straightforward\, gimmick-free Time-Speed-Distance (TSD) road rally\, with an emphasis on precise timing at well-placed controls. Columnar “tulip” style route instructions\, with Official Mileages for all action points (similar to a stage rally routebook)\, will be used. The ~165-mile route will wind through Ohio’s Geauga\, Ashtabula\, and surrounding counties. \n\n\n\nPrevailing road and weather conditions will dictate the rally’s difficulty. Competitors should come prepared to spend extended periods outside in severe winter conditions.  \n\n\n\nTo help teams with limited prior timekeeping experience stay on schedule and to mitigate the possibility of “double jeopardy” penalties from carrying a timing error through multiple controls\, parenthetical perfect cumulative leg times will be provided at all speed change locations. This will be done through the Richta GPS Checkpoints app\, available as a free download for your smart device. \n\n\n\nRegistration and more information are available on motorsportreg.com. However\, it is important to note that there will be no on-site registration\, and online registration closes on Wednesday\, January 29th. \n\n\n\nThe rally will count toward both the SCCA Great Lakes Division (GLD) Rally Championship and the SCCA National Touring Rally (NTR) Championship (Divisional Rally).

SUMMARY:OH: Johnny Appleseed Road Rally
DESCRIPTION:Neohio Region\, SCCA will host the Johnny Appleseed Rally on Saturday\, October 23\, 2021. The ~150 mile route will wind through the hills of Ohio’s Tuscarawas\, Harrison and Belmont counties. Foliage should be at near peak coloration. \n\n\n\nThe Johnny Appleseed name is a legacy from a National rally that was hosted by Neohio Region\, SCCA in the 1950’s and 1960’s\, and resurrected in the early 1990’s. Competitors can expect an absolutely straightforward\, gimmick-free Time-Speed-Distance (TSD) road rally\, with emphasis on precise timing at well-placed controls. Columnar ‘tulip’-style route instructions will be used. \n\n\n\nThe rally will count toward both the SCCA Great Lakes Division (GLD) Rally Championship and the SCCA National Touring Rally (NTR) Championship (Divisional Rally). \n\n\n\nNOTE: All teams must enter here. NO ‘WALK-IN’ ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED ON THE DAY OF THE RALLY!\n\n\n\nSCCA members are urged to apply for an annual waiver so that they can bypass the signing of a paper waiver at each SCCA event. \n\n\n\nIf either team member is a minor\, please contact the organizers as soon as possible to obtain an SCCA minor waiver form. This form must be properly executed in advance of the rally by the minor’s parent(s) or guardian(s). \n\n\n\nThis rally will be timed with the Richta automated checkpoint system. Upon arrival at each checkpoint\, a team’s device will sound an alert. It will then display the team’s recorded arrival time\, its score for that checkpoint\, and its cumulative score. The device may also display leg ‘critique’ information provided by the rallymaster. \n\n\n\nSome helpful Richta user information can be found on the Detroit Region\, SCCA website: http://drscca.org/rally/using-the-richta-competitor-app/ \n\n\n\nTeams are welcome to register a second (backup) phone or tablet under a ‘phantom’ car number 100 greater than their assigned numbers (i.e. Car#1/101\, Car #2/102\, etc.). The second device will serve as an in-time ‘insurance policy’\, and will help organizers gain a better understanding of the relative timing behavior of various platforms.
