SUMMARY:CA: Cal Club First Friday Niter Social Roadrally
DESCRIPTION:Time is coming soon for the July First Friday Niter Road Rally\, sanctioned by the SCCA\, Cal Club Region\, and the Santa Monica Sports Car Club!  Rallymaster Joe Akerman has written a pure tour course using Monte Carlo-style timing. This is a BEGINNER FRIENDLY event!  It has been created for maximum driving fun and easy navigation. You will get very simple\, turn-by-turn instructions with no tricks\, traps\, or boring average speeds. You will be given “Car Zero Times” at each Checkpoint and exact mileage. So\, no guesswork\, no complicated math. Just add your car number in minutes to the Car Zero Time\, and you will know when to cross each clearly visible Checkpoint sign.  If you get there early\, you may stop or creep without penalty\, so long as you do it safely and out of traffic lanes. \n\n\n\nThis rally uses the Richta GPS Competitor app for timing and scoring\, with timing in seconds. This month’s maximum penalty is 60 seconds (1 minute) per leg. The app is FREE and easy to use on any GPS-enabled smartphone. Go to the App Store\, Google Play Store\, or https://richtarally.com/. There is no need for additional timing equipment or clocks – your Official Time shows in the app!  \n\n\n\nIf you want to see all the scores at the Finish\, download the FREE Richta Scoreboard app. \n\n\n\nPlease try to register online here on MotorSportReg. If that doesn’t work for you\, you can still register in person at the start. We start at the Bank of America rear lot; in-person registration opens at 7:00 PM\, with the first car out at 8:01 PM; there is a beginner/Richta meeting at 7:40 PM. We’ll head out to the backroads of the Angeles National Forest before finishing at the Toppers Pizza at Sierra and Soledad in Santa Clarita.

SUMMARY:CA: Ron Dunlop Memorial Charity Cruise
DESCRIPTION:The object of Ron Dunlop Memorial Charity Cruise is to enjoy driving sweeping\, beautiful\, challenging\, paved back roads at legal speeds while raising money for one of our favorite charities. All net proceeds (over $20 per car) will be donated to the Loma Linda University Medical Center\, the group that took such good care of Ron. There is no need for advanced math and no riddles\, compasses\, maps\, or gimmicks. We will rain or shine on May 18\, 2024. \n\n\n\nThis is an SCCA Cal Club-sanctioned Regional “Trek” format cruise event sponsored by the Into the Night Rally Team. It’s a non-competitive\, untimed driving event. You can run alone or with as many passengers as your vehicle has working seat belts. \n\n\n\nThe “Trek” format is a “follow-the-leader” type cruise event. There will be a lead car\, and we’ll all basically just stay in the queue behind them. Just follow the car in front of you and enjoy the roads. We will hand out a brief\, written course description at the Start to help you stay with the route if you decide to stop or whatever. You can stop anywhere for any reason: a break\, sightseeing\, photos\, etc. \n\n\n\nRegarding photos\, this event will go through the heart of the southern California wildflower area. With the rains we’ve been having\, it should be a super bloom and should still be going strong on rally day. We have found an especially scenic spot on the course in this area\, and we will have a professional photographer there to get some high-res pictures of you and your car surrounded by the wildflowers. We’ll then send each of you your photos after the event! \n\n\n\nThis event has been designed to be extremely EV-friendly. Charging stations are near both the Start and Finish. \n\n\n\nPlease register online at MotorsportsReg.com. Registration is $30 per car. DESCRIPTION:On Friday\, July 7\, 2023\, please join us for an Into the Night rally takeover of the SCCA Cal Club Santa Monica Sports Car Club First Friday Niter. The Rallymaster is Joe Akerman. This rally will be a Monte Carlo/TSD rally\, meaning you get turn-by-turn directions AND your target time at each Checkpoint. All Timed Checkpoints are listed in the Route Instructions and referenced by prominent signs on the course\, in the style of our recent Thunder Road and Two Lane Blacktop rallies. This rally is about 70 miles long and will take about 2 hours. \n\n\n\nThis event aims to enjoy driving sweeping\, challenging back roads at legal speeds while following detailed directions to pass a series of Checkpoints at just the right time. No need for advanced math. No navigational traps or tricks. No riddles and no gimmicks — just beautiful roads to drive with a focus on precision and accuracy. This is a team sport — the Driver and Navigator must work together to get it right. \n\n\n\nThere are no set speeds. Just run at the posted speed limits (the rally is timed at least two mph BELOW those limits and has added pauses where needed). If you reach a timed Checkpoint early\, you can pull over out of traffic lanes and either creep in or stop and wait for your target time to cross the Checkpoint. \n\n\n\nWe will be using the Competitor – Richta GPS Checkpoints app for timing and scoring\, with timing in seconds. This app is FREE and easy to use on any GPS-enabled smartphone\, tablet\, or other Android or iOS device. DESCRIPTION:TWO LANE BLACK TOP\, an SCCA Divisional Tour\,  is the second event of the Cal Club and Into the Night Rally Team’s Double Rally Weekend! THUNDER ROAD 2023\, an SCCA National Tour Rally on Saturday\, June 17\, 2023 \n\n\n\nThis rally will run our favorite driving roads in the Santa Susana and Topatopa mountains (two of southern California’s transverse ranges) and through the farms\, orchards\, and open vistas of the Santa Clara River Valley\, including the historic towns of Fillmore and Santa Paula. \n\n\n\nThe Route Instructions for this event will use a simple Monte Carlo format\, meaning you get turn-by-turn directions and your target time at each Checkpoint. All Timed Checkpoints are listed in the Route Instructions and referenced by prominent signs on the course. SUMMARY:CA: Ron Dunlop Memorial Road Rally
DESCRIPTION:Please join us for a fun and exciting car road rally celebrating the life of Ron Dunlop\, a great guy and a tremendous rally organizer and competitor\, on Saturday\, March 19\, 2022. The Ron Dunlop Memorial Rally\, sponsored by the Into the Night Rally Team\, is sanctioned as an SCCA Divisional Tour Rally and will explore the amazing Wine Country backroads around Santa Barbara and Santa Maria. \n\n\n\nRallymaster Paul McGaffey’s Route Instructions will use a simple Monte Carlo format\, meaning you get turn-by-turn directions\, AND you will get your target time at each Checkpoint. All Timed Checkpoints are listed in the Route Instructions\, and all are referenced by prominent signs on the course. The rally is a little over 200 miles long\, and you will have seven hours of driving nirvana with many breaks for gas\, food\, and rest stops. \n\n\n\nThe object of this event is to enjoy driving sweeping\, beautiful\, challenging back roads at legal speeds while following simple directions to pass a series of checkpoints at just the right time.  \n\n\n\nThere is no need for advanced math\, no riddles\, compasses\, maps\, or gimmicks\, just glorious roads to drive with a focus on precision and accuracy. Rallying is a team sport; the Driver and Navigator must work together to get it right. \n\n\n\nThere are no average speeds. Just run at the posted speed limits (rally is timed at least two mph BELOW those limits and has pauses where needed). If you reach a timed Checkpoint early\, you can pull over\, get out of traffic lanes\, and either creep in or wait for your target time to pass by the Checkpoint. \n\n\n\nWe will be using the Richta GPS Competitor app for timing and scoring. This app is FREE and easy to use on any GPS-enabled smartphone or appropriate tablet. Go to the App Store\, Google Play Store\, or direct to https://richtarally.com/ and download it. There is no need for additional timing equipment; your Official Time shows in the app! \n\n\n\nWe’ve designed it to be EV-friendly. There are five stations and a Tesla Dealership near the Start in Camarillo\, five near the lunch break in Santa Maria\, two fast-charging stations\, and a Tesla Supercharger in the parking lot at the Finish in Goleta.  \n\n\n\nPlease register online here at MotorsportsReg. The registration fee is $60 per car\, with a $15 discount for SCCA members. You may still register in person at the Start. (Sorry\, but we will not be able to accept credit cards at Registration. Please use the MSR website to pay by credit card.) Both Driver and Navigator are required to complete the Waiver. To save time for both you and us at the Start\, we ask you to please enter your cell phone number where indicated near the bottom of the registration page\, and please check the ‘yes’ button just below that. Speedwaiver will send you a text\, and you follow their directions to use your phone to complete the Waiver. \n\n\n\nWe start at the Mcdonald’s rear lot. In-person Registration opens at 9:00 am; there is a beginner/Richta GPS meeting at 9:40 am\, and the first car out at 10:01 am. Yet we encourage you to Pre-Register so that we can have ample copies of the Route Instructions! \n\n\n\nThe finish will be at Camino Real Marketplace (near Starbucks)\, 7030 Market Place Dr\, Goleta\, CA 93117. The first car should be arriving around 5 pm. \n\n\n\nTrophies will be awarded to the top teams in Classes E (Equipped)\, L (Limited equipment)\, S (Stock)\, G (GPS-driven rally computers)\, and N (Novice – 3 or fewer previous rallies). \n\n\n\nMore rally information can be found at www.itnrally.org and on our ITN Facebook page. DESCRIPTION:Registration is open from 7:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A Beginners Meeting (an introduction for newcomers) will be held at 7:45 p.m. First car starts at 8:01 p.m.; cars leave at 1-minute intervals. \nWe start from the rear parking lot of the Bank of America\, on Devonshire Street\, just east of Sepulveda Blvd\, Mission Hills. \nEntry fees are $15 per team of Driver and Navigator\, both of which must be SCCA Members. A free Weekend Membership is available for non-SCCA Members. \n\nThe rally is designed to be completed in about two hours and covers 50-75 miles.
