Flamethrower’s surface this year was icy gravel with a threat of 1-2″ of snow that never came to pass. The SCCA Land o’Lakes Region rally, a part of the CENDiv Road Rally Championship, had nine cars competing, including one first-time team that had to leave early for an appointment, yet they asked for a practice roadbook to learn more!

The 152-mile rally went from Hastings, MN, to Lake City, MN, with two breaks and 18 regularity stages. Gavyn Gill from Red Hen Racing drove up from Georgia (putting in 1477 miles before the rally started), characterized Flamethrower as “not brisky but still risky”, whatever that means! He is filming his experiences at Flamethrower and Sunday’s Alligator Slide rally for the YouTube channel, so keep an eye out there.

Stephen Frame and Jordan Johnsen brought home the overall win in Stephen’s blue WRX. Ted and Liisa Rurup came in second in the blue BRZ.

Ted Rurup, Rallymaster for Alligator Slide Rally, shared that teams will cover 240 miles on Sunday, March 1st. Starting from Lake City, MN, and ending around dinner time in Red Wing, MN, though all the competition is in Wisconsin.
