Not a long time ago in a region not so far away, the Buccaneer Region of the SCCA initiated a legendary Star Wars-themed Time-Speed-Distance (TSD) Road Rally. It was a period of intense navigation and driving precision. On May the 4th, eighteen teams of Rebels, each composed of a daring Pilot and a wise Navigator, gathered at the starting point, a local cantina in the southeast territories of Jacksonville.
Their mission: to traverse the galaxy, beginning their epic journey southward, then veering west, skillfully maneuvering past an unexpected blockade—an estate sale that tested their agility and resolve. The first checkpoint was reached amidst these trials.
Continuing their quest, the teams piloted south along the State Route 16 hyperlane, then charted a course westward across the great expanse of the Saint Johns River. Upon crossing, they ventured into the industrial sectors of Reynolds, navigating past ancient war relics reminiscent of battles fought long ago. A second checkpoint awaited them in this maze of commerce and history.
The journey pressed onward to the east, back across the Saint Johns River, where the Pilots followed a 22-mile stretch along its banks. Here, the Rebels were treated to vistas of majestic riverfront fortresses and rare starship collections. The course then looped back east and north into the verdant farm sectors of Northeast Florida, where the third checkpoint emerged among the fields.
As the route ascended north, a celestial treat appeared—World Golf Village, broadcasting holo-reels of “Star Wars Episode IV” within its grand iMax theater. But there was no time for distractions; the rally clock continued to tick.
The final leg of the rally led the teams eastward down one of Florida’s most scenic hyperlanes before turning north towards the finish line at Fionn McCool’s Irish Pub & Restaurant. Much like the infamous Mos Eisley Cantina, it served as the perfect den for weary travelers to recount tales of their galactic conquests. Here, the epic Star Wars Rally concluded, forever marking the scrolls of SCCA history.
