SUMMARY:TX: Let's Meet at Waco Trek Rally
DESCRIPTION:The Texas Region of the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) invites all fellow car enthusiasts to this Trek rally down to Waco. A Trek is a non-competitive driving event on scenic country roads. No questions\, puzzles\, tricks or traps\, or timed controls\, just a fun (and stress-free) drive following a pre-determined route using a “convoy style” format. Rallymaster John Poulos will provide basic route instructions as a backup only. All are welcome\, and no prior rally experience is necessary. \n\n\n\nWe start in Arlington\, then the Let’s Meet at Waco Trek Rally will wind our way on twisty backroads to Waco\, passing through Glen Rose\, Meridian\, and other points before ending at a restaurant in Waco\, where we’ll enjoy a meal and camaraderie with fellow rallyists from the SCCA Lone Star Region (Austin-San Antonio). We’ll stop for a group picture at one or two sites along the way.  \n\n\n\nRegistration/Check-in at Summit Racing Equipment\, in Arlington\, at 845 AM. We’ll have a Safety Briefing at 915 AM\, and the first car departs at 930 AM. The rally spans a distance of 180 miles\, approximately five hours in length. The route is on paved roads in North Central Texas; we may encounter brief stretches of uneven pavement\, which may influence your vehicle choice on Rally Day. All vehicles are welcome: sports cars\, family cars\, classics\, antiques\, and anything with four wheels that’s street legal is okay in this Rally. Note: speed is not a factor. \n\n\n\nWe finish around 2:00 PM at El Conquistador Mexican Restaurant in Waco\, where we will share a beverage or meal with fellow rallyists from the Lone Star Region\, who will end their own Waco National Mammoth Monument Rally at this restaurant. \n\n\n\nAfter lunch\, teams may optionally visit Waco sights\, such as the Waco Mammoth National Monument\, Dr. Pepper Museum\, Magnolia Market\, and the Texas Ranger Hall of Fame & Museum\, before heading home. \n\n\n\nNo requirement for at least two people in each car unless you separate from the group and rely on (backup) route instructions. Contact rally@texasscca.org if you have a minor child (<18) in the car\, as an official SCCA Waiver form will need to be signed \n\n\n\nWhile same-day registration will be allowed\, we encourage you to pre-register on Motorsportreg.com. The entry fee is $10 per vehicle\, which covers insurance\, route preparation\, and administrative expenses.

SUMMARY:TX: San Antonio 2023 Historic Tour RoadRally
DESCRIPTION:San Antonio has had more battles fought within its city limits than any other town in North America. These battles occurred while San Antonio was under the jurisdiction of Spain\, the Republic of Mexico\, The Republic of Texas\, and the Confederate States of America\, not to mention the United States. This Road Rally will take you to the approximate location of each site. However\, the exact location of some of the sites is unknown\, and other sites were running battles that ranged over several miles. If you want a more detailed investigation of any site\, you are encouraged to revisit any site on your own and at your convenience—the oldest two sites date from 1813\, and the youngest one from the 1870s. \n\n\n\nThis is a non-speed social Road Rally whose route will be along city streets\, and speed bumps may be an issue for some cars. We will start on the west side of San Antonio\, proceed to the far south side\, and then complete our tour just north of downtown. It should take 90 minutes and two hours for this RoadRally as you learn about the history of San Antonio. Questions may be asked along the route\, but awards are not based on questions or a car’s finish position. This RoadRally is meant to be a fun learning event and a social outing where all participants will vote on awards at our final destination. \n\n\n\nOn the event day\, Saturday\, 12 August 2023\, participants will meet at the west side of the Walmart Superstore parking lot in San Antonio. Registration will be from 1:00 to 2:00\, with a safety briefing at 1:45. After the safety briefing\, cars will be released for the route which takes place on city streets. Our destination is The Longhorn Cafe at 1003 Tittiman Road in San Antonio.

SUMMARY:CA: Ron Dunlop Memorial Charity Cruise
DESCRIPTION:The object of Ron Dunlop Memorial Charity Cruise is to enjoy driving sweeping\, beautiful\, challenging\, paved back roads at legal speeds while raising money for one of our favorite charities. All net proceeds (over $20 per car) will be donated to the Loma Linda University Medical Center\, the group that took such good care of Ron. There is no need for advanced math and no riddles\, compasses\, maps\, or gimmicks. We will rain or shine on May 18\, 2024. \n\n\n\nThis is an SCCA Cal Club-sanctioned Regional “Trek” format cruise event sponsored by the Into the Night Rally Team. It’s a non-competitive\, untimed driving event. You can run alone or with as many passengers as your vehicle has working seat belts. \n\n\n\nThe “Trek” format is a “follow-the-leader” type cruise event. There will be a lead car\, and we’ll all basically just stay in the queue behind them. Just follow the car in front of you and enjoy the roads. We will hand out a brief\, written course description at the Start to help you stay with the route if you decide to stop or whatever. You can stop anywhere for any reason: a break\, sightseeing\, photos\, etc. \n\n\n\nRegarding photos\, this event will go through the heart of the southern California wildflower area. With the rains we’ve been having\, it should be a super bloom and should still be going strong on rally day. We have found an especially scenic spot on the course in this area\, and we will have a professional photographer there to get some high-res pictures of you and your car surrounded by the wildflowers. We’ll then send each of you your photos after the event! \n\n\n\nThis event has been designed to be extremely EV-friendly. Charging stations are near both the Start and Finish. \n\n\n\nPlease register online at MotorsportsReg.com. Registration is $30 per car. All net proceeds (over $20 per car) will be donated to the Loma Linda University Medical Center\, the group that took such good care of Ron. (NOTE: If the “register now” button doesn’t work\, please reload this page and try again.) \n\n\n\nYou may still register in person at the Start. (Sorry\, but we cannot accept credit cards at Registration. Please use the MSR website to pay by credit card.)   \n\n\n\nRegistration opens at 10 AM\, but feel free to come earlier. Dink’s Deli makes its bagels on-site daily\, and they are mighty good. There’s also a Starbucks and a Jamba Juice literally next door. Come early for some socializing\, tall tales\, and tire-kicking. The finish will be at the Black Bear Diner in Palmdale. \n\n\n\nThis driving portion of the event lasts about 2 hours and covers about 90 miles of our favorite roads. The Cruisemaster is Paul McGaffey. \n\n\n\nMore Info can be found at www.itnrally.org and on the Ron Dunlop Memorial Charity Cruise Facebook page at Log in or sign up to view. For any questions or more detailed information\, contact Paul at selmer6@gmail.com\, or call or text 310 350 1360. \n\n\n\nRReNews Note: Ron Dunlop\, for whom this Memorial Cruise is in honor\, has a lovely Last Checkpoint tribute written for him by Paul in 2022. You may view it here. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n Leave a ReplyCancel reply \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n\n This site uses Akismet to reduce spam. SUMMARY:WA: Hagerty Fall Classic
DESCRIPTION:The Hagerty Fall Classic is a budget-minded driving adventure through Washington/Oregon for 1979 and earlier touring and sports cars (with exceptions for select newer cars on an application basis). This un-scored\, non-competitive event takes place entirely within the states of Washington and Oregon and consists of approximately 700mi of driving over three days. The Fall Classic is organized by Squamish Classic Car Adventures using straightforward route instructions. Each entrant is required to read the Supplementary Regulations\, which contain all the details and ‘rules’ for the event\, before completing the Entry Form. \n\n\n\nThe Hagerty Fall Classic will start on Friday\, September 6th\, 20234\, and finish on Sunday\, September 8th\, 2024. To ensure an “adventure\,” the route will remain secret until competitors receive their entry packages at registration. Way-finding instructions will be detailed and clear\, and will not require any calculations or rally knowledge. The event consists of 100% paved roads\, with some remote routes and destinations. Driving for each day is scheduled during daylight hours. Car wash facilities are available at each overnight stop\, though our definition of ‘facilities’ is rather loose. The coin-op wash-bay down the road may suffice! \n\n\n\nVehicle Acceptance\n\n\n\nThe Hagerty Fall Classic Adventure is open to sport\, touring and classic cars from 1979 and earlier. Sorry\, no motorcycles on this event. All vehicles attending the Hagerty Fall Classic are expected to meet legal roadworthiness standards at an absolute minimum. Generally guests should ensure their vehicles are ready for a long weekend of driving through back-country and winding roads\, keeping in mind that short jaunts around town may not fully prepare your vehicle for long hours of remote highways. \n\n\n\nThe Delorean Rule\n\n\n\nVehicles made after 1979 are considered on a case-by-case basis\, under a rule we call “The Delorean Rule”. If you think your post-1979 car fits within the spirit of our events\, simply enter as per normal and ensure we have some photos and background story on the car. \n\n\n\nRReNews Note: At the time of posting\, we do not have the starting location at time of posting.
