SUMMARY:OR: Northwest Classic Car Challenge
DESCRIPTION:In 2023\, the NW Classic Car Challenge will have it’s 34th running over the August 3-6th weekend. The rally will hold close to its roots\, featuring a classic TSD (time-speed-distance) road rally complete with MRDs/TRAPS\, rigorous course following (using OR and ITIS instructions)\, and this year we have added a relaxed Tour rally. Both travel wonderful twisty backroads from Portland\, OR to Eugene\, Oregon\, over two days of driving. \n\n\n\nBut we have also made some changes to change with the times. First\, you no longer need an old car to participate. We ENCOURAGE new sports car owners to join! We have special recognition planned for new Alfa owners. But ANY suitable modern car can sign up. If you don’t want to drive that finicky Spider or MG\, you can bring out your Mustang\, BMW\, or… \n\n\n\nOur presenting sponsor\, Vintage Underground\, forged another change to encourage new and younger participants. The tour can now be a traditional “follow-the-leader” format or ON YOUR OWN with a simplified route book. And all tour participants can take some pictures along the way\, like their car going through one of the seven covered bridges or other landmarks along the route. If they post the photos to Instagram or FaceBook with the event hashtag #NWCCRALLY\, they receive a raffle ticket for items raffled during the Awards Brunch on Sunday. The goal is to encourage and engage tour participants and have something for them to look forward to on Sunday besides the People’s Choice “Concours and Coffee.” \n\n\n\nAlso added to Sunday is a classic\, 1960s-style gymkhana. There is no cost; teams can watch\, participate\, or both (see details below in the comprehensive schedule). As of April 25th\, we have 34 RALLY entries and eight TOUR entrants at the time of writing. We expect 50-60 cars in total. \n\n\n\nHere is the planned schedule for the 34th NW Classic Car Challenge. The committee has created an enjoyable and complete weekend with social aspects and events beyond just a RALLY or a TOUR. It is a true bucket list event! \n\n\n\n#NWCCRALLY \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThursday Eve\, August 3rd\, 5–9:00 PM – SCRUTINEERING PARTY at Ron Tonkin Alfa Romeo in Beaverton. Come out and see the cars — everyone is welcome! \n\n\n\nFriday\, August 4th\, 8:00 AM – Ceremonial start of the NW Classic Car Challenge Rally and Tour from Ron Tonkin Alfa Romeo with a TV crew like Tony Martinez\, a Shriner as the starter\, and Scott Fisher has agreed to be the announcer. \n\n\n\n• SPECTATOR AREA along the route: Friends\, family\, and photographers cheer on the cars as they pass through a spectator point in the Portland/Tigard area. \n\n\n\n• Catered Lunch at the ZCBJ Hall in Scio\, OR. WiFi will be available for uploading Tour Challenge photos. \n\n\n\n• Day 1 ends at Valley River Inn\, Eugene ~4:30 PM\, with BEER sponsored in the parking lot \n\n\n\n• Evening Banquet – 6:30 PM with a slide show and KaHoots! Trivia Game \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSaturday\, August 5th\, 8:00 AM  – NW Classic Car Challenge Rally and Tour departs \n\n\n\n• Catered lunch in Cottage Grove\, Oregon area\, featuring Salmon! \n\n\n\n• Day 2 ends at Valley River Inn\, with a rose\, presented to each car \n\n\n\n• Cars will be escorted to the BEER WASH area\, where contestants are handed a bucket/sponge and fresh towels\, along with a beer\, and they wash their car. Why clean the car after the days’ adventures? So that after the lovely social evening\, they’re ready for Sunday morning’s Concours and Coffee in the parking lot with the PEOPLE’s CHOICE voting. \n\n\n\n• Cocktail Hour follows the Beer Wash at 5:45 PM with a slide show \n\n\n\n• Banquet Dinner starts at 6:45 PM\, with the featured Speaker at 7:45 PM \n\n\n\nOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA\n\n\n\nSunday Morning\, August 6th\, 7:00 AM – Concours and Coffee\, with voting until 9:00 AM. There is a hired Security Officer each evening to oversee the parking lot. \n\n\n\n• Awards Brunch\, 9:00 AM – Trophies presented to TSD Rallyists and draw raffle tickets for Tour Challenge contestants who gained tickets by doing well in the photography challenge. \n\n\n\n• 10:30 AM Special projected photo recognition for top Porsche on the Porsche Club stage\, for top NEW GUILIA\, and TOP PLACING 4C\, etc.\, and of course\, our CONCOURS winners are announced. \n\n\n\n• 11:15 AM – Adjourn for “FUNKHANA” in a nearby parking lot. Optional slow-speed driving event with challenges like STOPPING on a DIME\, TOSSING a ROD\, DRIVING A SLALOM in reverse\, hitting a blow-up clown while blindfolded\, and finally hitting a GIANT SOCCER BALL thru a goal. SUMMARY:Cal Club First Friday Niter Social RoadRally
DESCRIPTION:Time for the August First Friday Niter!  Rallymaster Paul McGaffey has written a pure tour course using the Monte Carlo style timing. You will be given “Car Zero Times” at each Checkpoint. Just add your car number in minutes to the Car Zero Time to get your time to cross each Checkpoint. If you get there early\, you may stop or creep without penalty\, so long as you do it safely and out of traffic lanes. The course will take you through the magnificent driving roads of the Santa Monica Mountains and Finish at BJ’s Brewhouse\, 3955 Thousand Oaks Blvd\, Westlake Village. \n\n\n\nThis rally uses the Competitor Richta GPS Checkpoints app for timing and scoring\, with timing in seconds. This month’s maximum penalty is 60 seconds (1 minute) per checkpoint. The app is FREE and easy to use on any GPS-enabled smartphone. Go to the App Store or Google Play Store\, or https://richtarally.com/. There is no need for additional timing equipment or clocks – your Official Time shows in the app!  \n\n\n\nAlso\, if you want to see all the scores at the Finish\, download the FREE Richta Scoreboard app.  \n\n\n\nPlease try to register online at MotorsportReg. DESCRIPTION:You’re invited to the Tick Tock Rally\, an SCCA Regional Time-Speed-Distance (TSD) Tour Rally on scenic paved backroads of Denton County. All entrants are welcome. No prior rally experience is necessary—a precision driving event at fun speeds. Course following is easy with GPS mileage on every turn. We assign the speeds to drive. The object is to arrive at checkpoints along the route at the correct time. We score you on how close to the perfect time you arrive at checkpoint locations. No calculations are necessary. Come on out and join the SCCA Texas Region! \n\n\n\nWe will send you information on the app after you pre-register on MotorsportReg. There are 67 timing checkpoints in about 81 miles of the rally route. This year’s rally will consist of four different kinds of checkpoints\, so you can experience various flavors of TSD Tour rallying.      \n\n\n\nWe plan to conduct a Rally School via Zoom (currently scheduled for August 6th) to help prepare for the rally (for details and to pre-register for the School\, go to http://msreg.com/TTR23RSmsr). We will post a YouTube video recording for those who can’t join the live session. We encourage you to attend the School. \n\n\n\n\nStarting Place:  Shell Station\, 1306 US-380 Bus\, Decatur\, TX 76234. (on the east side of Decatur at the intersection of US 380 and Business 380)\n\n\n\nRegistration: 9:45 am to 10:15 am on Rally Day\n\n\n\nEntrant orientation/safety briefing: 10:30 am\n\n\n\nCars leave the start:  11:00 pm plus your car number\n\n\n\nLength: approx. 81 miles (~3.5 hours); includes a 25-minute rest break at Shell Station\n\n\n\nFinish: Ritzy B’s Smokehouse & Grill (BAR-B-Q)\, where we will gather for a beverage or meal\, announcements\, and awards\n\n\n\nRally type: TSD Tour. A smartphone and a clipboard and pencil are all you need—no timing calculations needed (unless in Calculating Class – see below).\n\n\n\nRoute: paved roads in Wise County\, mostly in and around the LBJ National Grasslands\n\n\n\nVehicles: Sports Cars\, Family Cars\, Classic Cars\, Antiques\, anything with four wheels that’s street-legal is OK in this Rally. SUMMARY:CA: Hot August Night Rally
DESCRIPTION:All roads look different after sunset. Driving a night rally is like stepping into a parallel universe\, defined only by the route instructions\, odometer\, and headlights. Please join the Redwood Region PCA for our annual night rally and experience rallying in an alternate\, dark reality. The Hot August Night is a Monte Carlo-style rally. \n\n\n\nThere will be no onsite registration\, so head over to MotorsportReg for more information and to register. Entry fees are $25 for PCA Members and $30 for non-PCA. \n\n\n\nPCA membership is not required\, and all cars are welcome. There are no experience or equipment-based classes. A 13 or older navigator is required\, and additional occupants are always welcome. \n\n\n\nAll roads are paved and in good condition. The route will be well-defined\, with miles to each turn and a diagram of each intersection. The exact location of each checkpoint\, and the time you are due\, will be included in your route instructions. You will use the free Competitor Richta GPS Competitor app on your smartphone\, which includes the official rally time. Simply pass the checkpoint at your assigned time for a zero!

SUMMARY:CA: Gold Rush National Tour Road Rally
DESCRIPTION:The SCCA San Francisco Region is returning to the SCCA National Tour RoadRally Championship with its Gold Rush National Tour Rally on August 27th\, a day after Golden West 2023 Road Rally\, a National Course RoadRally Championship event. The Entry Fee for SCCA Members is $90 for each rally or $170 for the weekend. An SCCA Weekend Membership is available for an additional $15\, as may be needed by a team. All registrations will be handled through MotorsportsReg. General Instructions will be emailed on August 19th\, and all entries must be received by August 21st. \n\n\n\nAs of April 20th\, the tentative schedule: Registration at Headquarters: Friday\, August 25th\, 5:00-7:30 PM \n\n\n\nThe Gold Rush National Tour Rally\, by Rallymaster Stu Helfer\, will be a low-pressure\, low-scoring touring event through southern Sacramento and San Joaquin Counties—an easy-to-follow drive with mileages at most route instructions and many GPS scoring opportunities. \n\n\n\nRallymaster Andy Stocker encourages rallyists to compete in the two National Championship RoadRally events by Cal Club Region and the Santa Monica Sports Car Club the prior weekend\, August 19th and 20th\, and then spend several days heading north along the amazing California coastline. Visit places like the Getty Museum\, Santa Barbara\, Hearst’s Castle\, Big Sur\, Carmel\, Monterey Bay Aquarium\, Santa Cruz\, Bodega Bay\, Napa Valley Wineries\, and more! Then finish with the SCCA San Francisco Region’s two Sacramento rallies – Golden West 2023 National Course Rally and the Gold Rush National Tour Rally. \n\n\n\nEntrants must have the Richta GPS Competitor App installed on their phones (available for free for iOS/Android)\, as the event will use the Richta GPS Competitor App for scoring. \n\n\n\nStay tuned for more details!
