SUMMARY:IL: Tulips by Night RoadRally and Social
DESCRIPTION:Tulips by Night 2026 is an evening Monte-Carlo-style Touring RoadRally and social event of about 60 miles\, with the SCCA St. Louis Region. Rallymaster Jim Heine designed the event with the new/occasional rally team in mind. Expect paved rural Madison County\, Ill.\, roads\, easy-to-follow tulip diagrams for route instructions\, and checkpoint locations identified by official mileages and arrival times. Timing will be in minutes and seconds\, with checkpoint arrival times calculated to whole minutes. After the rally\, stick around to enjoy conversation and hospitality at our finish location. \nStart: Troy Park & Ride \nFinish: Vitale’s Hideaway on historic Route 66 (today\, Illinois 4) outside Staunton\, Ill. Vitale’s Hideaway has been a stop at Route 66 and the “Worden Y” since Route 66 was established in the 1920s. A popular nightspot and dance hall in the 1930s\, today it serves as a neighborhood bar and grill\, one that not long ago was featured on the TV reality show “Bar Rescue.” \nSize of the field: We are limiting the field to 25 teams. \nRegistration: Pre-event registration only at MotorsportReg.com via the link below\, where you will also learn more about the rally\, waivers and information on the Richta GPS Checkpoint app. Entries on a first-come basis. Registration closes Wednesday\, May 27\, at 11:59 p.m. \n\nMay 30 check-in: 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Troy Park & Ride.\nSafety meeting: 6:45 p.m.\nFirst car departs the start: 7:01 p.m.\nFirst car arrives at the finish: approximately 9:00 p.m.\n\nWhat you need: \n\n A vehicle\nA driver and navigator\nA smartphone or tablet with the Richta GPS Competitor App installed (this app\, free from Google Play or Apple’s App Store\, is our timing and scoring system–see timing and scoring note below for more details)\nA clipboard and calculator\, pencils and paper\nA map light or similar device\nA happy inclination to take an evening drive\n\nEntry fee: $20.00 per team for SCCA teams\, $45.00 per team for nonmember teams. An SCCA team is defined as a team in which at least one participant is an SCCA member. The $45.00 team entry fee for a nonmember team includes a $25.00 SCCA Weekend Membership for the team’s “primary entrant\,” i.e.\, the member who pays the entry fee. The other member of a non-SCCA team will receive a one-time free SCCA Trial Membership\, as will any non-SCCA member of an SCCA team. \nGood things to know–timing and scoring: Tulips by Night 2026 is an SCCA RoadRally during which you will be timed at several locations along the rally route. As indicated above\, we will use the Richta Rally GPS Checkpoint System for timing and scoring. To compete\, each participating team must have a smartphone or tablet with active data cellular service (no airplane mode and no wi-fi only devices) with the Richta GPS Competitor App installed. The app will report your arrival time and leg score to your cellphone or tablet moments after you pass each GPS checkpoint location. \nThe SCCA Detroit Region’s rally page has an excellent summary of the Richta system\, especially its GPSCompetitor App. Visit http://drscca.org/rally/using-the-richta-competitor-app. It’s is worth your time. \nMore good things to know: May 30 is a full-moon night. Unless Mother Nature turns against us\, we should have a fun evening for rallying. \nAbout the St. Louis Region\, SCCA: The SCCA’s St. Louis Region\, with some 600 members\, offers Road Racing\, Performance Driving Experience (PDE)\, RallyCross\, RoadRally\, Solo (autocross)\, and Street Survival School programs to educate and provide safe environments for individuals to enjoy their street-legal (daily driver) cars and purpose-built racecars. The region is home to more than 80 national champions and has been recognized four times by the Sports Car Club of America as the Region of the Year in its member category.
