SUMMARY:CA Cal Club First Friday Niter Social Road Rally
DESCRIPTION:Join Rallymaster Joanna Weissen for the last FFN by the Cal Club Region Santa Monica Sports Car Club as they go on hiatus. Last year’s January FFN\, the rally will be a tour (no traps) focusing on Christmas light displays\, which were spectacular\, with many lights and a few massive displays. It will likely run in Burbank and/or Glendale and likely finish at the IHOP on Glendale Ave in Glendale.  \n\n\n\nThis rally uses the Richta GPS Competitor app for timing and scoring. The app is FREE and easy to use on any GPS-enabled smartphone. It is available on the App Store or Google Play Store or at https://richtarally.com/. There is no need for additional timing equipment or clocks—your Official Time shows in the app! Download the FREE Richta Scoreboard app\, if you want to see all the scores at the Finish. \n\n\n\nPlease try to register online at www.msreg.com/FFN012025. If that doesn’t work for you\, you can still register in person at the start of the SMSCC events. However\, it helps the organizers print adequate copies of the route instructions and confirm the numbers for the ending location. We start at the Bank of America rear lot in Mission Hills. In-person registration opens at 7:00 p.m.\, with the first car out at 8:01 p.m. There is a beginner/Richta meeting at 7:40 p.m. \n\n\n\nIs your usual rally partner not available for this FFN? Let Jeanne know\, and she will attempt (with no guarantees) to match you up with another rallyist. Contact Jeanne at ean21@juno.com.  \n\n\n\nAfter the January FFN\, we will switch to the SMEMSS rallies — Santa Monica Even Month Second Saturday rallies. Yes\, daytime! Please join us for these daytime rallies on the second Saturday morning of even months (February\, April\, and so on). It’s amazing what you can see along the routes in the daylight. They will start at the same place as the FFNs\, the Bank of America rear lot in Mission Hills. In-person registration will open at 9:00 am\, and the first car will be out at 10:01 am\, and it will take approximately 2 to 3 hours to complete. For a list of the dates\, go to www.smscc.org and click “Next Day Rally.” We will be posting more information on MotorSportReg soon. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n Leave a ReplyCancel reply \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n\n This site uses Akismet to reduce spam. SUMMARY:PA: New Hope Auto Show Every Car Road Rally
DESCRIPTION:The New Hope Automobile Show’s Road Rally has become popular. Many people come year after year to compete for trophies and enjoy the challenges of our scavenger hunt. \n\n\n\nCars of all kinds are welcome to participate. Of course\, being The New Hope Automobile Show\, we encourage people to bring their classic cars\, but your everyday car will work just fine. The cost is $60 per car. \n\n\n\nThis year\, we have a very special Road Rally. After you’ve answered all the clues along the route\, you’ll find yourself in one of Bucks County’s most beautiful parks. We invite you to pack a picnic lunch before leaving home. There will not be any places along the route to purchase lunch. You may not bring alcohol into the park. It’s the law. At the park\, there will be a pavilion where you can sit to eat\, or bring a blanket or lawn chairs and spread out on the ground. \n\n\n\nWelcome SCCAThis year\, we’re again teaming up with the Philadelphia Region of the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA). Their support for our event assures us that it is safe and allows us to continue our road rally for years to come. \n\n\n\nGet a head start.A crucial part of this collaboration with the SCCA will be requiring all participants to complete a temporary SCCA membership form\, which all drivers and navigators must complete before they can drive in the rally. The forms are provided here\, so you can download them\, fill them out\, sign them\, and bring them with you on the morning of the rally. This will allow us to get the rally going on time. \n\n\n\nFor more information and Registration\, click here! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n Leave a ReplyCancel reply \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n\n This site uses Akismet to reduce spam. SUMMARY:CA: Cal Club First Friday Niter Social Roadrally
DESCRIPTION:Time is coming soon for the July First Friday Niter Road Rally\, sanctioned by the SCCA\, Cal Club Region\, and the Santa Monica Sports Car Club!  Rallymaster Joe Akerman has written a pure tour course using Monte Carlo-style timing. This is a BEGINNER FRIENDLY event!  It has been created for maximum driving fun and easy navigation. You will get very simple\, turn-by-turn instructions with no tricks\, traps\, or boring average speeds. You will be given “Car Zero Times” at each Checkpoint and exact mileage. So\, no guesswork\, no complicated math. Just add your car number in minutes to the Car Zero Time\, and you will know when to cross each clearly visible Checkpoint sign.  If you get there early\, you may stop or creep without penalty\, so long as you do it safely and out of traffic lanes. \n\n\n\nThis rally uses the Richta GPS Competitor app for timing and scoring\, with timing in seconds. This month’s maximum penalty is 60 seconds (1 minute) per leg. The app is FREE and easy to use on any GPS-enabled smartphone. Go to the App Store\, Google Play Store\, or https://richtarally.com/. SUMMARY:CA: Cal Club First Friday Niter Social Roadrally
DESCRIPTION:It’s May\, so it’s finally time to run the postponed February FFN! The rally will run primarily in and around the Rye Canyon industrial park in Santa Clarita (near Magic Mountain). Jeanne English is the Rallymaster\, and she likes traps\, so there will be some. They are all based upon WOF (whichever occurs first) instructions. That means there are no onto\, FLR\, spelling\, or any other kind of trap except for the WOF instructions. There will even be a special help page for beginners\, which Larry Scholnick will explain at the Beginner’s Meeting. SUMMARY:CA: SCCA Cal Club First Friday Niter
DESCRIPTION:This Cinco de Mayo\, the Santa Monica Sports Car Club will be running the rally initially scheduled for March 3rd\, yet was postponed due to weather-related road closures. But you shouldn’t let puns go to waste\, so pretend it’s 3/3/2023\, grab your favorite Musketeer\, and join us for what was supposed to be the 3rd First Friday Niter of the year.  \n\n\n\nThere will be three legs with three stages per leg on this Tour rally of the Sierra Pelona Ridge. There are no traps this month\, and plenty of three\, er\, free zones to enjoy some of the best driving roads the region has to offer. Just make sure you’re on time outside those free zones because the checkpoints are unmarked – kind of like the pre-app days.  \n\n\n\nThis rally uses the Richta GPS Competitor app for timing and scoring\, with timing in seconds. This month’s maximum penalty is 60 seconds (1 minute) per checkpoint. The app is FREE and easy to use on any GPS-enabled smartphone. Go to the App Store or Google Play Store\, or https://richtarally.com/. There is no need for additional timing equipment or clocks to your Official Time shows in the app!  \n\n\n\nAlso\, if you want to see all the scores at the Finish\, download the FREE Richta Scoreboard app. \n\n\n\nPlease try to register online at MotorsportReg.com. This helps us determine how many Route Instructions to print\, trophies\, etc. If that doesn’t work for you\, you can still register in person at the start. We start at the Bank of America rear lot. In-person registration opens at 7:00 pm\, with the first car out at 8:01 pm; there is a beginner/Richta meeting at 7:40 pm. \n\n\n\nThe rally will finish at IHOP\, 1225 Truman St.\, San Fernando\, CA 91340.  This is close to the start\, so it’s a short drive back in case Drivers and Navigators meet at the start location. \n\n\n\nIs your usual rally partner not available for this FFN?  Let Jeanne know; she will attempt to match you up with another rallyist.  Contact Jeanne at ean21@juno.com.

SUMMARY:IL: St. Louis Region Tulips by Night
DESCRIPTION:A St. Louis Region\, SCCA\, Social Road Rally in conjunction with the St. Louis/Southern Illinois Gateway Sprints MiDiv Majors Weekend\, at World Wide Technology Raceway. \n\n\n\n\n\nDescription: Tulips by Night 2023 is an evening Monte-Carlo-style road rally/tour of about 50 miles. We have designed this event with the new/occasional rally team in mind. Expect paved county roads\, easy-to-follow tulip diagrams for route instructions\, and checkpoint locations identified both by official mileages and official arrival times. Timing will be in minutes and seconds\, with checkpoint arrival times calculated to whole minutes. For teams new to rallying\, a brief school before the event will explain how to run the event and answer questions a team might have. \n\n\n\nStart: World Wide Technology Raceway\, Madison\, IL. \n\n\n\nFinish: The Lucky Rooster Pub & Eatery\, 101 W. Main St.\, St. Jacob\, IL 62281. \n\n\n\nSize of the field: We are limiting the field to 15 teams. \n\n\n\nRegistration: Pre-event Registration only here at Motorsportreg. Entries on a first-come basis. You will find much more information about the event\, the Richta GPS Competitor App\, and you can reach out to Rallymaster Jim Heine\, too! \n\n\n\nMay 5 check-in and signing of waivers\, etc.: 6 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at World Wide Technology Raceway. \n\n\n\nRally school Q&A : 6:15 PM and the Safety meeting: 6:45 PM and First car departs the start: 7:01 p.m. \n\n\n\nFirst car arrived at finish: Approximately 9 p.m. (We will have a full moon\, the Flower Moon\, May 5\, with sunset at 7:56 p.m. With Mother Nature’s cooperation\, it should be a perfect occasion for an evening drive. The Lucky Rooster\, which is staying open just for us\, has a lovely patio also.) \n\n\n\nWhat you need: a car\, a Driver & Navigator\, a smartphone or tablet for the Richta GPS Competitor App\, a clipboard & calculator\, pencils & paper\, and a flashlight or map light to read route instructions after sundown—and an inclination to take an evening drive. \n\n\n\nWhat you don’t need: Special rally lights on your vehicle. (Your OEM headlights should do just fine.) \n\n\n\nEntry fee: $20.00 per team for SCCA Members\, $35.00 per team for Non-members. \n\n\n\nOther really good things to know–timing and scoring: Tulips by Night 2023 is a TSD (Time-Speed-Distance) event at which you will be timed at several locations along the rally route. We will use the Richta Rally GPS Checkpoint System for timing and scoring. To compete\, each participating team will need a smartphone or tablet with active data cellular service (no airplane mode and no wi-fi only devices!) with the Richta Competitor App installed. The app will report your arrival time and leg score to your cellphone or tablet moments after you pass each GPS checkpoint location. For more information about the Richta GPS system visit https://richtarally.com. Also\, the SCCA Detroit Region’s rally page has an excellent summary of the Richta system\, especially its Competitor App\, which you will use. Visit http://drscca.org/rally/using-the-richta-competitor-app. Visiting it is worth your time. \n\n\n\nAbout the St. Louis Region\, SCCA: The SCCA’s St. Louis Region\, with some 600 members\, offers Road Racing\, Performance Driving Experience (PDE)\, RallyCross\, RoadRally\, Solo (autocross)\, and Street Survival School programs to educate and provide safe environments for individuals to enjoy their street-legal (daily driver) cars and purpose-built racecars. The region is home to more than 80 national champions and has been recognized three times by the Sports Car Club of America as the Region of the Year in its member category. In 2023\, the region will host an “SCCA Majors” road-racing weekend and multiple Solo and RallyCross regional events. To learn more about the St. Louis Region\, visit www.stlscca.org. \n\n\n\nEvent requirements\n\n\n\nThe standard SCCA rules regarding road-rally registration will be observed (e.g.\, proof of valid drivers license and current auto insurance\, vehicle inspection [self-inspection by the rally team]\, signing of SCCA waiver/release forms\, including confirmation of valid SCCA Annual Minor Waivers for Minors). \n\n\n\nWaivers: All participants will be required to read and sign the standard SCCA waiver before being allowed to participate in this event. The signing of the SCCA’s “Release and Waiver of Liability\, Assumption of Risk and Indemnity Agreement” is a pre-condition to participating in any SCCA event. Any adult\, age 18 or older\, must sign the waiver. \n\n\n\nMinor Participants: A Minor taking part in an SCCA event\, including this event\, as a competitor\, on-track participant\, or volunteer or worker with access to restricted (hot) areas must have an Annual Minor Waiver on file for the calendar year. \n\n\n\nThe Age of Majority is 18 years except in Alabama and Nebraska\, where it is\, 19 and Mississippi\, where it is 21. \n\n\n\nThe Annual Minor Waiver will be issued to the Minor by the SCCA National Office. For more information about this process\, click on the following document and see the section “Minor Annual Waivers”: Digital Annual Waiver 12-01-2021.pdf.

SUMMARY:PA: Choose Your Own Citrus Road Rally\, Part II Revenge of the Stone Fruit
DESCRIPTION:Inspired by the nationally-known (but in no way affiliated) Lemons Rally\, the Choose Your Own Citrus Road Rally\, Part II Revenge of the Stone Fruit is designed to provide an enjoyable drive through the countryside while conducting a Scavenger Hunt. This “Rally” is a social event and is not based on accurate time and distance – in fact\, each team picks their own route to maximize points the way that suits each team the best. Scoring is based on the ability of the team to use clues to find target locations\, while leaving enough time to finding their own way to the finish location in the allotted time frame. Each team will be provided with a packet with rules and instructions on how to post pictures on Instagram to mark way-points and collect points. Someone on your team needs an Instagram account for your team to get points! This is a great opportunity to get younger family members involved in a driving activity. This event will take place rain or shine. Only extreme weather conditions warrant cancellation. \n\n\n\nA Road Rally is not a race! OBEY ALL TRAFFIC LAWS. The roads are challenging\, sharp curves\, steep climbs and wildlife crossings all combined with an unknown route. The driver and navigator must work together to stay alert while looking for clues. Speed does not improve the score. Bring water for the team\, and fuel up when you can there isn’t any sweep car…it’s up to the team to make it back \n\n\n\nEvent requirements\n\n\n\nREGISTRATION \n\n\n\nRegister here for $45. All licensed drivers are welcome to participate! Once registered\, make sure that your name shows up on the entry list to confirm your entry.  Walk-ups will NOT be accepted. An SCCA membership is required for insurance purposes. For all drivers that are not annual SCCA members\, weekend memberships are required and can be purchased during online registration. All passengers that are non-SCCA members will have to sign up for a trial membership at no additional cost. We will have trial membership form on site.  \n\n\n\nEVENT OVERVIEW \n\n\n\nThis is a GTA/Social Road Rally. There are no points towards any championship. \n\n\n\nThere are many variations of Road Rally—this is a “social” rally\, which does not require participants to track time and accurate distance. Instead\, each vehicle has a navigator who will read directions and figure out the best route\, and the driver will follow the instructions. The goal is to drive and find the best route to maximize points. At the end of the rally\, there will be a small award ceremony where winners will be announced. \n\n\n\nThe intention is to have a pleasant Saturday drive\, following the speed limits and all local laws. Enjoy yourself\, enjoy the view and spot some random stuff \n\n\n\nAdditional Notes of Importance: \n\n\n\n\nThe official instructions will be provided at the check-in at on-site registration; you get to determine your own route.\n\n\n\nEach team should have a pencil or pen (and perhaps a clip board) to record stuff and things at this event.\n\n\n\nVehicles will depart the start point at after the driver meeting.\n\n\n\nEach team will need an Instagram account\n\n\n\nThere will be no checkpoints along the route to verify that participants are on the correct route.\n\n\n\nWarning: don’t play follow the leader! Or do\, the other team could be doing something dumb.\n\n\n\nEach car/team will need a mascot that must be included in all photographs/Instagram posts of way-points/checkpoints for scoring purposes\n\n\n\nMascot should be a handheld item to represent the team\n\n\n\nEach team should bring a Hot Wheels or Matchbox car for the judges (it could help your score).\n\n\n\nThis is NOT a race; ALL traffic laws must be followed.\n\n\n\nSpeeding ticket will disqualify you from this event.\n\n\n\n\nREQUIREMENTS \n\n\n\nYou must show your valid driver’s license. If you are not an SCCA member\, a weekend membership form must be completed via MotorsportReg.com for $15. Other team members/navigators that are not SCCA members will need to fill out a trial membership form on site \n\n\n\nDriver qualifications:  \n\n\n\n\nA valid driver’s license and a car\n\n\n\nCapable of listening to the navigator or team or pack of wolves and remembering what they were told about why they are driving around South Central PA\n\n\n\n\nTeam qualifications: \n\n\n\n\nSome organizational ability (to handle the paperwork and keep track of route instructions)\n\n\n\nNot prone to motion sickness while reading in the car (if you do get motion sick\, taking medicine prior to the event often allows you to still enjoy the event)\n\n\n\nAbility to post to Instagram\n\n\n\nSome light googling\n\n\n\n\nNotes: \n\n\n\n\nNumber of passengers in the vehicle must not exceed the legal passenger capacity for the vehicle.\n\n\n\n\nEVENT VENUE AND TIMETABLE \n\n\n\nCheck-in: Hickory Bridge Restaurant \n\n\n\n\n9:30AM: Registration opens\n\n\n\n10:00AM: Registration closes and Driver’s meeting\n\n\n\n10:15ishAM: Vehicles begin rally\n\n\n\n3:30PM: Finish Location \n\n\n\n4:00PM: Sharing of food and tall tales of the road  \n\n\n\n5:00PM (or earlier): Results and award ceremony\n\n\n\n6:00PM (or earlier) Please help tear down and clean up!\n\n\n\n\nFinal Destination: will be in the rally packet  \n\n\n\nGeneral Scoring Tips \n\n\n\nThese things could help you points \n\n\n\n\nthemes (costume for you or your car)\n\n\n\nsafe\, legal wackiness that makes the judges laugh

SUMMARY:TX: Come and Take It Road Rally
DESCRIPTION:The Lone Star Region of the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) would like to invite you to join us for the Come and Take It Road Rally. This rally is to honor the 32 Texican volunteers who left Gonzales on 27 February 1836 for the Alamo during the Texas Revolution. Two days later the detachment entered the Alamo which was commanded by William Barrett Travis and Jame Bowie. Except of Travis’s boyhood friend\, James B. Bonham\, who arrived later that day\, these heroes were the last men to enter the Alamo before it was over whelmed by Mexican forces under President/General Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna on March 6 and all of the defenders were killed. This road rally will follow the approximate path of these doomed men from Gonzales to San Antonio (Bexar) but in reverse. \n\n\n\nOn the day of the event\, 25 February 2023\, participants will meet at Dellcrest Plaza in southeast San Antonio at 1:00 PM. After completing a safety briefing\, the rally will began the 90 minute rally at 2:01 PM. The route will visit Martinez\, New Berlin before skirting Seguin and entering Gonzales from the south. The destination is the Gonzales Food Market on Hero’s Square in Gonzales where the group will sample the award winning BBQ and discuss more local history before voting on awards. \n\n\n\nEarly Registration will be through MotorsportReg.com. The price is $25.00 per car regardless of the number of occupants. Children are welcomed but insurance requires that minor children\, under 18\, must have an SCCA Minor Waiver signed by both parents. Each car must have a Driver and a Navigator and each car must have a current inspection sticker and proof of insurance. People who register through MotorsportReg.comwill find the waiver form (must be printed it in color) and may pay online. People may also register by contacting Ken McElroy via contact information below and then pay at the event or just by showing up at Dellcrest Plaza and paying as they fill out the paper work there.

SUMMARY:CA: SCCA Cal Club First Friday Niter Social RoadRally
DESCRIPTION:The SCCA Cal Club\, Santa Monica Sports Car Club Chapter\, continues their tradition of its First Friday Niter Series and begins the new year with Rallymaster Larry Scholnick. He describes his rally as “a trip around the rim of the Valley\, the San Fernando Valley.” It really does travel from place to place.  There are some traps on this rally\, but no more than one per leg (and not all legs have traps).  Trap values average about 30 seconds. FYI\, my favorite instruction on the rally is this one:  STRAIGHT(ish) at STOP. \n\n\n\nWe will be using the Richta GPS Competitor app for timing and scoring\, with timing in seconds. The max penalty this month is 120 seconds (2 minutes) per leg. All checkpoints are listed in the route instructions with a Restart after each checkpoint. This app is FREE and easy to use on any GPS-enabled smartphone. Go to the App Store or Google Play Store\, or https://richtarally.com/. There is no need for additional timing equipment or clocks – your Official Time shows in the app!   \n\n\n\nAlso\, if you want to see all the scores at the Finish\, download the free Richta Scoreboard app.  Finish will be at IHOP\, 5031 Kanan Road\, Agoura Hills (at the Kanan offramp of the 101). \n\n\n\nPlease register online at MotorSportReg. This helps us plan for number of instructions to print\, trophies\, and all that good stuff. If that doesn’t work for you\, in-person registration opens at 7:00 pm\, with the first car out at 8:01 pm; there is a beginner/Richta meeting at 7:40 pm.

SUMMARY:NJ: SCCA Northern New Jersey 32nd Teddy Bear Rally
DESCRIPTION:For the past 32 years\, SCCA Northern New Jersey Region has been hosting this annual event. Over $27\,500 in toys have been donated to the United States Marine Corp Reserve toy drive since the 1st Teddy Bear Rally in 1990. SCCA-NNJR’s Toys for Tots Roadrally is the longest continually run charity event conducted by SCCA. \n\n\n\nThis year’s event will be 55 miles and be a two-and-a-half-hour novice-orientated rally. It will utilize written instructions and photo clues to determine the trophy winners. \n\n\n\nThis is not a timed event. Your ability to follow the course correctly and identify the scenes depicted in the photo clues determines your score. \n\n\n\nNo hard-to-see or tricky questions to answer. \n\n\n\nThe entry fee is a new stuffed animal or unwrapped toy of $35.00 or greater. While stuffed animals will be accepted in 2022\, unwrapped toys are preferred.

Before you arrive at the start\, please download the Richta GPS Competitor app to your phone; it’s a free download for Android and Apple devices. There is no need for additional timing equipment\, your Official Time shows in the app! \n\n\n\nIs your usual rally partner not available for this FFN? Let Jeanne know and she will attempt to match you up with another competitor seeking a rally partner! \n\n\n\nPlease register here on MotorSportReg as it helps us plan for how many cars will be attending and makes Registration quicker for you. Should that not work for you\, you can still register in person at the start at 7:00 pm\, with the first car out at 8:01 pm; there is a beginner/Richta meeting at 7:40 pm.

SUMMARY:TX: Let's Meet at Waco Trek Rally
DESCRIPTION:The Texas Region of the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) invites all fellow car enthusiasts to this Trek rally down to Waco. A Trek is a non-competitive driving event on scenic country roads. No questions\, puzzles\, tricks or traps\, or timed controls\, just a fun (and stress-free) drive following a pre-determined route using a “convoy style” format. Rallymaster John Poulos will provide basic route instructions as a backup only. All are welcome\, and no prior rally experience is necessary. \n\n\n\nWe start in Arlington\, then the Let’s Meet at Waco Trek Rally will wind our way on twisty backroads to Waco\, passing through Glen Rose\, Meridian\, and other points before ending at a restaurant in Waco\, where we’ll enjoy a meal and camaraderie with fellow rallyists from the SCCA Lone Star Region (Austin-San Antonio). We’ll stop for a group picture at one or two sites along the way.  \n\n\n\nRegistration/Check-in at Summit Racing Equipment\, in Arlington\, at 845 AM. We’ll have a Safety Briefing at 915 AM\, and the first car departs at 930 AM. The rally spans a distance of 180 miles\, approximately five hours in length. The route is on paved roads in North Central Texas; we may encounter brief stretches of uneven pavement\, which may influence your vehicle choice on Rally Day. All vehicles are welcome: sports cars\, family cars\, classics\, antiques\, and anything with four wheels that’s street legal is okay in this Rally. Note: speed is not a factor. \n\n\n\nWe finish around 2:00 PM at El Conquistador Mexican Restaurant in Waco\, where we will share a beverage or meal with fellow rallyists from the Lone Star Region\, who will end their own Waco National Mammoth Monument Rally at this restaurant. \n\n\n\nAfter lunch\, teams may optionally visit Waco sights\, such as the Waco Mammoth National Monument\, Dr. Pepper Museum\, Magnolia Market\, and the Texas Ranger Hall of Fame & Museum\, before heading home. \n\n\n\nNo requirement for at least two people in each car unless you separate from the group and rely on (backup) route instructions. Contact rally@texasscca.org if you have a minor child (<18) in the car\, as an official SCCA Waiver form will need to be signed \n\n\n\nWhile same-day registration will be allowed\, we encourage you to pre-register on Motorsportreg.com. The entry fee is $10 per vehicle\, which covers insurance\, route preparation\, and administrative expenses.

SUMMARY:PA: As The Crow Flies Social Rally
DESCRIPTION:The As the Crow Flies is sanctioned by the SCCA Allegheny Highlands Sports Car Club as a GTA Social Rally. The entry fee is $30. \n\n\n\nAs the Crow Flies is a shortest-distance rally\, an untimed RoadRally follows an undefined route. Instead of the usual route instructions and timing controls\, contestants are given a map and a list of waypoints to be visited. Contestants receive penalty points for each 0.10 mile traversed during the rally. Thus\, the goal is to visit all the required sites (waypoints) in the allotted time while traversing the shortest distance possible. These waypoints may be visited in any order of your choosing after leaving the start control and before you arrive at the finish control. Unlimited use of additional maps\, GPS\, Waze\, etc.\, is permitted. \n\n\n\nThe available roads are all public roads in and bordering Indiana County\, PA. Typical fall foliage and scenery should be superb as you travel on many roads most of you will have never seen before. Each team (minimum of two people) will use their maps and waypoint list to plot a course and may drive at whatever legal speeds are comfortable for them. Three hours are allotted to complete the rally\, but it should take less time. Awards for best overall finishing position(s) and best finishing position of any team with no prior experience with the shortest distance rally. \n\n\n\nIf you prefer a more extended version\, please consider our Ghost Tracks on the same day. Register over at Motorsportreg and try this rally style. \n\n\n\nEntrants can approach the waypoint from any direction and be assured that the transponder provided by the Rally Committee will confirm their arrival at the waypoint. Mileage will be zeroed at the Start Control and frozen at the Finish Control\, having accumulated all of the mileage the transponder has traversed. This total mileage will be the final score after adding a penalty of fifteen miles for each waypoint not attained if applicable. The shortest distance wins. \n\n\n\nThis will be the first of its kind and requires no equipment\, not even a cell phone. The rally is intended to be a model for other regions to host a rally that requires minimal effort on the part of a Rally Committee. Rallymaster Bruce Gezon strongly believes that the format may become a preferred rally type.
