SUMMARY:• May the 4th Be With You Episode 2 RoadRally
DESCRIPTION:The SCCA Buccaneer Region’s most successful road rally is back! This time with more prizes\, more trivia\, and a route that follows Star Wars Episode 2: Attack of the Clones movie! \nNew for 2025!\nPrizes for best dressed or costume\, best decorated car\, best wookiee roar impression\, highest trivia score\, and more!\nEach team will be tasked with tracking down Padmé’s attempted assassin by traversing the busy streets of Coruscant. Then track the mysterious bounty hunter to Kamino where you’ll discover the droid army the Federation has been manufacturing in secret. After that\, it’s on to Geonosis where you’ll have to escape the Reek\, Acklay\, and Nexu before engaging in a lightsaber battle with Count Duku. After a battle well fought\, you’ll finally report back to the Jedi Council – for awards\, prizes\, and event wrap-up. \nThis event is an SCCA TSD (time-speed-distance) Road Rally\, where each vehicle will drive on paved public roads\, following a set of predefined route instructions through various checkpoints using the Richta GPS Checkpoints mobile application. Participants will be scored based on their arrival time at each of the defined checkpoints. We will start at Panera\, located near downtown Jacksonville\, where cars will depart every 1 minute. The finish will be a sit-down restaurant at the Saint Johns Town Center\, where scoring\, awards\, and lunch will be available (you are responsible for purchasing your food; we encourage everyone to eat and support the location). \nNew to road rally or unsure what they’re all about? It is somewhat lengthy\, yet a humorous video explanation. \nAny car is allowed\, provided it meets all Florida state laws and is insured to meet the state’s minimum requirements. A valid driver’s license and proof of insurance will be required at on-site registration. Each car is allowed as many people as there are seatbelts in the vehicle\, but each car is required to have at least 2 people: a Driver and a Navigator. There will be a starting location\, a calibration zone\, multiple free/transit zones\, and several unmanned checkpoints. Team numbers will be assigned\, but the starting order will be determined at random. \nThere are three available classes for this rally: Stock\, Limited\, and Seat of Your Pants. Below are some examples of the types of setups used in each class. \n\nStock: Using your vehicle’s stock trip/odometer\, smartphone as a calculator\, and a stopwatch (perhaps the same or another smartphone). Each car will drive on paved public roads using a set of predefined route instructions through various checkpoints using the Richta GPS Checkpoint app\, a free app downloaded to your smart device from the Apple Store or GooglePlay.  \n\n\n\nParticipants will be scored based on their arrival time at each defined checkpoint. We will start at the conference hotel\, where cars depart 1 minute apart. We will also finish at the conference hotel\, where scoring and lunch will be available (you are responsible for purchasing your food; we encourage everyone to eat and support the location).  \n\n\n\nAre you new to road rallies or unsure what this is all about? A valid driver’s license and proof of insurance will be required at on-site registration. Each car is allowed as many people as there are seatbelts in the vehicle\, but each car is suggested to have at least two people: a Driver and a Navigator. There will be a starting location\, five (5) unmanned checkpoints\, followed by a sixth checkpoint at the finishing location. Team numbers will be assigned but the starting order will be determined randomly. \n\n\n\nThree classes for this rally are available: Stock\, Limited\, and Seat of Your Pants. Below are some examples of the types of setups used in each class.  \n\n\n\n\nStock: Using your vehicle’s stock trip/odometer\, smartphone as a calculator\, and a stopwatch (perhaps the same or another smartphone). This is the most common class and recommended for novices.\n\n\n\nLimited: Using the car’s built-in navigation system to show distance traveled\, a 3rd party GPS tracking system via mobile app (i.e. Richta Odometer\, Maps\, or an Odometer/Trip app)\, as long as that information isn’t transferable to the calculating device (i.e. can’t be the same smartphone running the app and calculations).\n\n\n\nSOP: Just your odometer\, pens/pencils\, stopwatch\, and gut instincts. DESCRIPTION:We are excited to host the first-ever Buccaneer Region SCCA RoadRally! COURSE FOLLOWINGAt check-in\, participants will be given an envelope that contains the first checkpoint’s name and street address\, along with a few questions that we encourage you to answer related to things you should see along that leg of the rally. Participants will enter the checkpoint address into their GPS or cell phone and follow the instructions it states to reach the destination. This is not a timed event\, and you must obey all local posted traffic laws – including the speed limits! If you are given a citation for any reason while participating\, your entry will be disqualified and no scores provided.  \n\n\n\n3. RALLY LEGSThe rally has six total legs. At each checkpoint\, the participants will select a card from a deck of cards\, and be provided with a new envelope containing the next checkpoint’s name and address\, along with a new set of questions for that leg. The entrant enters the newly provided street address into their GPS and continues on. It is encouraged that the questions provided are read prior to leaving the checkpoint as you never know when the answers may appear!  \n\n\n\n4. SCORINGAs this event is a “poker run”\, the participant’s “poker hand” will determine the winner. In the event of a tie\, the total number of correct answers to the questions will be used as the tiebreaker.  \n\n\n\n5. SAFETYPlease drive carefully. Obey the speed limit at all times. Anyone receiving a citation of any kind will be disqualified. All roads used are paved and open to the public. SUMMARY:AL: Pine Mountain Trek RoadRally
DESCRIPTION:Join ALSCCA for our first road rally event\, a Trek across Pine Mountain in central Alabama! \n\n\n\nAbout this event:Pine Mountain Trek will follow the SCCA Trek-format\, a fun non-competitive follow-the-leader drive through country roads\, mountain roads\, and byways\, but with a twist – there will be General Instructions and Route Instructions provided\, checkpoints along the route\, and basic training for those interested in follow-on competitive TSD rallies with scoring.  \n\n\n\nThe Trek will end at the Mustang Museum of America in Odenville\, AL. The museum welcomes our SCCA group to view more than 100 cars of every vintage\, including the US’s largest collection of Highway Patrol Mustangs\, with a discounted entrance fee of $10/person. Those interested can join us for lunch at Charlie’s BBQ in Odenville around noon. \n\n\n\nThe Trek will begin in the parking lot of the Barber Motorsports Museum at 8:00 am\, Saturday April 22nd\, 2023. Waivers\, along with basic training and instructions will be provided at 8:00 am – don’t be late! First car out at 9:00 am. Length of drive: 58 miles\, 2.0 hours. A return drive back to the starting point at your leisure will add 17 miles in 25 minutes. \n\n\n\nRegistration and payment must be done online. \n\n\n\nThe number of cars participating will be limited to 20 total\, minimum of one driver and one navigator per car\, other riders welcome. If your navigator or riders are minors\, a special release is required. \n\n\n\nRegistration fee: SCCA members $20/car. Non-members $30 (includes $10 fee for SCCA weekend membership) \n\n\n\nNo special equipment is required. A smartphone with built-in GPS and a windshield mount is strongly recommended\, allowing you to download and use the free Richta Competitor app (Apple App Store or Google Play Store). It is recommended that you download this app before arriving. Further instructions on app use will be provided prior to the rally start. A clipboard\, pen or pencil for note-taking\, and a basic stop-watch may be useful.
