SUMMARY:PA: Choose Your Own Citrus Road Rally\, Part II Revenge of the Stone Fruit
DESCRIPTION:Inspired by the nationally-known (but in no way affiliated) Lemons Rally\, the Choose Your Own Citrus Road Rally\, Part II Revenge of the Stone Fruit is designed to provide an enjoyable drive through the countryside while conducting a Scavenger Hunt. This “Rally” is a social event and is not based on accurate time and distance – in fact\, each team picks their own route to maximize points the way that suits each team the best. Scoring is based on the ability of the team to use clues to find target locations\, while leaving enough time to finding their own way to the finish location in the allotted time frame. Each team will be provided with a packet with rules and instructions on how to post pictures on Instagram to mark way-points and collect points. Someone on your team needs an Instagram account for your team to get points! This is a great opportunity to get younger family members involved in a driving activity. This event will take place rain or shine. Only extreme weather conditions warrant cancellation. \n\n\n\nA Road Rally is not a race! OBEY ALL TRAFFIC LAWS. The roads are challenging\, sharp curves\, steep climbs and wildlife crossings all combined with an unknown route. The driver and navigator must work together to stay alert while looking for clues. Speed does not improve the score. Bring water for the team\, and fuel up when you can there isn’t any sweep car…it’s up to the team to make it back \n\n\n\nEvent requirements\n\n\n\nREGISTRATION \n\n\n\nRegister here for $45. All licensed drivers are welcome to participate! Once registered\, make sure that your name shows up on the entry list to confirm your entry.  Walk-ups will NOT be accepted. An SCCA membership is required for insurance purposes. For all drivers that are not annual SCCA members\, weekend memberships are required and can be purchased during online registration. All passengers that are non-SCCA members will have to sign up for a trial membership at no additional cost. We will have trial membership form on site.  \n\n\n\nEVENT OVERVIEW \n\n\n\nThis is a GTA/Social Road Rally. There are no points towards any championship. \n\n\n\nThere are many variations of Road Rally—this is a “social” rally\, which does not require participants to track time and accurate distance. Instead\, each vehicle has a navigator who will read directions and figure out the best route\, and the driver will follow the instructions. The goal is to drive and find the best route to maximize points. At the end of the rally\, there will be a small award ceremony where winners will be announced. \n\n\n\nThe intention is to have a pleasant Saturday drive\, following the speed limits and all local laws. Enjoy yourself\, enjoy the view and spot some random stuff \n\n\n\nAdditional Notes of Importance: \n\n\n\n\nThe official instructions will be provided at the check-in at on-site registration; you get to determine your own route.\n\n\n\nEach team should have a pencil or pen (and perhaps a clip board) to record stuff and things at this event.\n\n\n\nVehicles will depart the start point at after the driver meeting.\n\n\n\nEach team will need an Instagram account\n\n\n\nThere will be no checkpoints along the route to verify that participants are on the correct route.\n\n\n\nWarning: don’t play follow the leader! Or do\, the other team could be doing something dumb.\n\n\n\nEach car/team will need a mascot that must be included in all photographs/Instagram posts of way-points/checkpoints for scoring purposes\n\n\n\nMascot should be a handheld item to represent the team\n\n\n\nEach team should bring a Hot Wheels or Matchbox car for the judges (it could help your score).\n\n\n\nThis is NOT a race; ALL traffic laws must be followed.\n\n\n\nSpeeding ticket will disqualify you from this event.\n\n\n\n\nREQUIREMENTS \n\n\n\nYou must show your valid driver’s license. If you are not an SCCA member\, a weekend membership form must be completed via MotorsportReg.com for $15. Other team members/navigators that are not SCCA members will need to fill out a trial membership form on site \n\n\n\nDriver qualifications:  \n\n\n\n\nA valid driver’s license and a car\n\n\n\nCapable of listening to the navigator or team or pack of wolves and remembering what they were told about why they are driving around South Central PA\n\n\n\n\nTeam qualifications: \n\n\n\n\nSome organizational ability (to handle the paperwork and keep track of route instructions)\n\n\n\nNot prone to motion sickness while reading in the car (if you do get motion sick\, taking medicine prior to the event often allows you to still enjoy the event)\n\n\n\nAbility to post to Instagram\n\n\n\nSome light googling\n\n\n\n\nNotes: \n\n\n\n\nNumber of passengers in the vehicle must not exceed the legal passenger capacity for the vehicle.\n\n\n\n\nEVENT VENUE AND TIMETABLE \n\n\n\nCheck-in: Hickory Bridge Restaurant \n\n\n\n\n9:30AM: Registration opens\n\n\n\n10:00AM: Registration closes and Driver’s meeting\n\n\n\n10:15ishAM: Vehicles begin rally\n\n\n\n3:30PM: Finish Location \n\n\n\n4:00PM: Sharing of food and tall tales of the road  \n\n\n\n5:00PM (or earlier): Results and award ceremony\n\n\n\n6:00PM (or earlier) Please help tear down and clean up!\n\n\n\n\nFinal Destination: will be in the rally packet  \n\n\n\nGeneral Scoring Tips \n\n\n\nThese things could help you points \n\n\n\n\nthemes (costume for you or your car)\n\n\n\nsafe\, legal wackiness that makes the judges laugh

SUMMARY:CA: Cal Club First Friday Niter
DESCRIPTION:It’s April\, and we all know what that means for the First Friday Niter.  But this time\, the joke is on us – Larry Scholnick is giving is a Tour Rally! So unlike all those previous April FFNs that Larry has written\, there is no need to be afraid of whatever foolishness there might have been for this rally. It’s a tour!!  The odometer check heads out to Westlake Village\, where the challenge to stay on time begins. The rally includes Potrero Road\, a trip through Newbury Park\, then more Potrero Road to a visit to Cal State Channel Islands\, and we finish with a loop of Loop! It’s a fun drive\, so come join us on April 7! \n\n\n\nThis rally uses the Richta GPS Competitor app for timing and scoring\, with timing in seconds. The maximum penalty this month is 120 seconds (2 minutes) per checkpoint. The app is FREE and easy to use on any GPS-enabled smartphone. Go to the App Store or Google Play Store\, or https://richtarally.com/. There is no need for additional timing equipment or clocks to your Official Time shows in the app!  \n\n\n\nAlso\, if you want to see all the scores at the Finish\, download the FREE Richta Scoreboard app also. \n\n\n\nPlease try to register online at msreg.com/FFN042023.  This helps us with figuring out how many sets of instructions to print\, and trophies\, and other stuff.  If that doesn’t work for you\, you can still register in person at the start. We start at the Bank of America rear lot. In-person registration opens at 7:00 pm\, with the first car out at 8:01 pm; there is a beginner/Richta meeting at 7:40 pm. \n\n\n\nThe rally will finish at Pizza Man Dan’s\, 2390 Las Posas Road\, Camarillo (a new Pizza Man Dan’s for us). \n\n\n\nIs your usual rally partner not available for this FFN?  Let Jeanne know and she will attempt to match you up with another single.  Contact Jeanne at ean21@juno.com.

SUMMARY:IN: Dogwood Daze Tour Rally
DESCRIPTION:The Dogwood Daze Road Rally\, sanctioned by the SCCA Indianapolis Region\, is a time speed distance rally designed specifically for beginners\, but fun for non-beginners as well. This is a Tour-style rally that uses the Richta GPS Competitor App for timing. No tricky route instructions — just follow the instructions given to you. At each restart point you will re-zero your trip odometer and leave at the beginning of the next minute. After you leave the restart point\, the App will tell you what time you started. Simply drive a few miles per hours above the speed given in the instructions or you can add the leg time given in your route instructions to the app restart time and you will know the exact time that you need to arrive at the next control. It is quite possible for Novices to  score well\, and\, if you just want a nice drive in the country that ends with food and comradeship\, this event provides that as well. \n\n\n\n$40/car ($15 discount for SCCA members) \n\n\n\n1:00-1:30 PM   Registration (waivers and weekend member forms will be in registration packets) \n\n\n\n1:45 PM  Mandatory Safety Meeting \n\n\n\n2:00 PM + Car Number  Start of Rally \n\n\n\n5:00 PM + Car Number   Should arrive at end point  \n\n\n\nItems Needed: \n\n\n\n\nStreet legal car\n\n\n\nTwo people in the car (driver and navigator)\n\n\n\nPen/pencil/highlighter\n\n\n\nClipboard\n\n\n\nDedicated cell phone or GPS enabled tablet for checkpoint scoring\n\n\n\nOdometer/GPS or some other way to calculate your mileage\n\n\n\nCalculator might be helpful\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis is an SCCA RoadRally that requires a street legal vehicle with both a driver and a navigator in the vehicle. SUMMARY:TX: Texas Region Spring Paradise Trek
DESCRIPTION:The Texas Region of the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) invites all fellow car enthusiasts to this Spring Paradise Trek in Denton and Wise counties. A Trek is a non-competitive driving event on scenic country roads. There are no questions\, puzzles\, tricks\, traps\, or timed controls\, just a fun (and stress-free) drive following a pre-determined route using a “convoy style” format. We’ll provide basic route instructions as a backup only. All are welcome\, and no prior rally experience is necessary. \n\n\n\nWe’ll set out from The Horny Toad Café & Bar in Denton\, then wind our way on twisty back roads\, some of them within the LBJ National Grassland\, ending in Paradise\, Texas (the town\, not the state of mind). We’ll stop for a group picture at one or two sites along the route. For added fun\, we plan to stop along the way to visit Eagles Canyon Raceway (ECR)\, where we can briefly tour the facilities\, observe cars on track\, and enjoy a quick lunch at the Over the Top Bar & Grill. \n\n\n\n\nCheck-in and starting place: The Horny Toad Café & Bar\n\n\n\nRegistration/check-in: 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM on Rally Day\n\n\n\nSafety Briefing: 10:35 AM\n\n\n\nCars leave the start: 10:45 AM\n\n\n\nLength: ~90 miles (~4 hours\, including stops)\n\n\n\nFinish: ~3:00 pm in Paradise\, Texas\, where we will take a group photo.\n\n\n\nOptional before heading home: homemade ice cream at Bless Your Mouth near Bridgeport.  \n\n\n\nRally type: Trek. Non-scored organized scenic drive.\n\n\n\nRoute: paved roads in Denton\, Wise\, and (a little corner of) Cooke counties; we may encounter brief stretches of uneven pavement\, which may influence your choice of vehicle on Rally Day\n\n\n\nVehicles: Sports Cars\, Family Cars\, Classic Cars\, Antiques\, anything with four wheels that’s street-legal is OK in this Rally. Note: speed is not a factor.\n\n\n\nThere is no requirement for at least two people in each car unless you separate from the group and rely on (backup) route instructions.\n\n\n\nContact rally@texasscca.org if you have a minor child (<18) in the car\, as an SCCA Minor Waiver form will need to be signed.\n\n\n\nRally entry fee (covers insurance and preparation and administration expenses): regular SCCA Members $10 per vehicle; Weekend Members $20 per vehicle (includes membership fee).\n\n\n\nRally Master: John Poulos\n\n\n\n\nWhile same-day registration will be allowed\, we encourage you to pre-register. To pre-register\, click here. \n\n\n\nThis event is sanctioned as a Trek by SCCA\, under Sanction Number 23-RRTK-60613; it does not qualify for Regional or National Championship points. \n\n\n\nFor more information on the RoadRally Series\, visit www.texasscca.org/rally
