DESCRIPTION:The New Hope Automobile Show’s Road Rally has become popular. Many people come year after year to compete for trophies and enjoy the challenges of our scavenger hunt. \n\n\n\nCars of all kinds are welcome to participate. Of course\, being The New Hope Automobile Show\, we encourage people to bring their classic cars\, but your everyday car will work just fine. The cost is $60 per car. \n\n\n\nThis year\, we have a very special Road Rally. After you’ve answered all the clues along the route\, you’ll find yourself in one of Bucks County’s most beautiful parks. We invite you to pack a picnic lunch before leaving home. There will not be any places along the route to purchase lunch. You may not bring alcohol into the park. It’s the law. At the park\, there will be a pavilion where you can sit to eat\, or bring a blanket or lawn chairs and spread out on the ground. \n\n\n\nWelcome SCCAThis year\, we’re again teaming up with the Philadelphia Region of the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA). Their support for our event assures us that it is safe and allows us to continue our road rally for years to come. \n\n\n\nGet a head start.A crucial part of this collaboration with the SCCA will be requiring all participants to complete a temporary SCCA membership form\, which all drivers and navigators must complete before they can drive in the rally. SUMMARY:PA: USRRC 50th Anniversary Little Appalachian Rally
DESCRIPTION:Clyde Heckler\, Rallymaster\, is celebrating an anniversary during the 2023 United States Road Rally Challenge (USRRC) on Friday\, October 20th. This year’s Little Appalachian National Course Rally is the 50th Anniversary year of his first rally for the SCCA Philadelphia Region in 1973. It is also the first National Championship rally sanctioned by the Philadelphia Region since the 1983 Appalachian Road Rally\, 40 years ago! \n\n\n\nThe 50th Little Appalachian will be a throwback event\, as it is a course rally of moderate difficulty and will use the Abridged RoadRally Rules. It uses a fixed priority list\, including the principal road rule. There are no main road determinants\, yet we’ll use the onto rule and letter instructions. The route will be in Chester County\, known for its horse farms\, and Lancaster County\, an Amish area. \n\n\n\nAt the rally’s conclusion\, the contestants will head down to New Jersey for the final two rallies of the USRRC – The Jersey Devil National Tour and Up the Creek National Course Rally by Rallymaster Jim Wakemen. \n\n\n\nThis rally will use the Richta GPS Competitor App and the SCCA Abridged RoadRally Rules. \n\n\n\nHere are some images from the early years of the Appalachian National Rally: 1960 Rally Regulations and the 1958 rally plate.

SUMMARY:PA: SCCA Heck's And Back Divisional RoadRally
DESCRIPTION:Heck’s and Back Roadrally is sponsored by the Philadelphia Region SCCA with the cooperation of Blue Mountain Region. The Heck’s and Back GTA RoadRally is a question-and-answer Divisional Rally that will traverse some scenic back roads in Berks County\, many of which will feature hex signs common in the area. Rallymasters Bruce Gezon and Clyde Heckler have designed a course that features some questions containing a few tricks (traps) to separate the scores.  \n\n\n\nWe offer two classes: Experienced (team members have run five or more rallies combined) and Novice.  There will be awards (hex sign themed) for first and second in Experienced\, and first through third for Novice entries.     \n\n\n\nOur route will cover approximately 70 miles\, and you will have 4 hours to complete it. The route is totally paved\, so there are no worries about dirt/rocks. \n\n\n\nAfter you register\, approximately two weeks before the event\, you will receive general instructions explaining the rules for the rally\, how to follow the course\, a glossary of terms included in the route instructions\, scoring\, etc.  General instructions will also eventually be available on this webpage.  \n\n\n\nStart:Saucony Creek Brewery Company + Gastropub in Kutztown\, PA.    \n\n\n\nSchedule of Events:10:30 am Registration opens at Saucony Creek Brewing Company + Gastropub.   \n\n\n\nPlease park in the parking lot to the left of the outdoor patio as you enter the parking lot (not in the front). Your registration packet will include the route instructions and publicity material for other upcoming events in the area. All participants must sign a liability release\, and non-members must fill out the Weekend and Trial Membership forms and Minor Waivers for anyone under 18.  You may only have two adults in the car.  A child under ten does not count against the adult limit.   \n\n\n\nYou may depart whenever you are ready and satisfied with your route instructions. If you would like to have breakfast\, the Airport Diner (15110 Kutztown Rd) is less than a mile away\, but allow extra time as they are typically very busy on Sunday mornings.        \n\n\n\nFinish: Saucony Creek Craft Brewing Company + Gastropub. The non-member fee includes a $ 15-weekend membership fee\, which includes a $15 coupon toward Annual Membership if redeemed within 60 days. \n\n\n\nCars must be in working order and be insured with an auto insurance policy with liability limits of not less than $20\,000 /$40\,000/$10\,000 (no exceptions). Each entrant must certify that the car entered is legally on the road and is either owned by the entrant or used by the entrant with the owner’s permission.  Any participant under 18 must have an SCCA Minor Waiver\, printed in color and signed by all parents/guardians. \n\n\n\nNon-members are encouraged to complete their Weekend Membership forms before the event and bring them along to expedite registration.

DESCRIPTION:Everyone feels great about giving during the holidays\, but what happens when we get into the depths of winter after the New Year? It’s cold\, it’s dark\, but people are still hungry. The SCCA Philadelphia Region says let’s break out some cars and drive for a good cause. The 2019 Food Drive Road Rally is limited to 15 teams. We maxed out of the last rally so sign up early! We absolutely will not be able to exceed the limit of entrants. \n\n\n\nThis charity road rally will take you through some amazing back roads in Montgomery and Berks Counties to help you scratch that driving itch that builds up during the offseason. Your entry fee will be 10 donation-appropriate food items. \n\n\n\nThis year’s beneficiary will be the Bucks County Housing Group. \n\n\n\nFOOD BANK DONATIONS NEEDED: \n\n\n\n\nProtein: Canned meats such as tuna\, chicken\, and salmon. Beans\, canned or dried. Split peas and lentils. Peanut butter.\n\n\n\nGrain: Pasta\, rice\, or quinoa. Oatmeal or breakfast cereals (whole grain or low sugar).\n\n\n\nDairy: Shelf stable milk\, non-fat dried powder milk\, or dry-grated Parmesan cheese.\n\n\n\nPrepared meals: Pasta sauces\, stews\, canned pasta\, baked beans\, or Mac & Cheese. Chunky soups.\n\n\n\nFruits: Canned fruit in its own juice or 100% fruit juice.\n\n\n\nVegetables: Especially carrots\, potatoes\, yams\, or tomatoes.\n\n\n\nBaking goods: Cake mix\, flour\, or sugar.\n\n\n\nFresh Produce that does not require refrigeration\, like onions\, garlic\, oranges\, carrots\, potatoes\, sweet potatoes\, apples\, pears\, or bananas.\n\n\n\nOther items: Olive oil\, canola oil\, broths\, lemon juice\, or vinegar. DESCRIPTION:Come out and enjoy some of the finest back-road driving the Philadelphia-area countryside has to offer. This evening road rally will flow through many of the hills\, valleys and riverside areas that Bucks County has hidden away.\nAlong this rally\, you will encounter gravel roads\, covered bridges\, abundant wildlife\, and many scenic routes. The roads are nearly as twisted as the rallymaster. This rally doesn’t include JUST driving–be prepared for puzzles and trivia. This is going to be one of the more challenging rallies we’ve hosted over the last few seasons and there will be no classes for this event. \nPlease note that this event will be held under Social Rally rules and will not count towards SCCA points. \nRegistration will open at approximately 5:00 PM followed by our mandatory driver meeting at about 5:45 PM (the exact times may be adjusted slightly as the route gets adjusted). \nThis rally will take a little over 2.5 hours to complete and will end up in the vicinity of Ottsville\, PA. \nThere are only 15 spots available for this event\, you want to register right away!
