SUMMARY:WI: Escape To Wisconsin Navigational Scatter
DESCRIPTION:The SCCA Land of Lakes Region’s first Navigational Scatter (NavScat). For SCCA purposes\, it is sanctioned as a GTA (Games Touring Adventure). After this scatter rally\, we will be caravaning to Wisconsin Dells on our way to our final destination\, the Badger Burrow Divisional Tour\, in Fitchburg\, WI\, on Sunday. If you plan to run Badger Burrow\, you must pre-register\, as It fills quickly. \n\n\n\nNavigational Scatters were created to provide a rally challenge without the burden of staying on time.We track your progress using the MiRally transponders. Your course is converted to driving distance via GPS and Google Maps. This distance is how you will be scored. \n\n\n\nThere are several locations to visit. Plot the shortest route that takes you by all of them. Although a map will be provided\, you may use any device you want to aid you\, including online mapping. Google Maps is helpful but does not always give the shortest route. The route between the points offers many options. \n\n\n\nYou’ll have three hours and 20 minutes from the time you check in until the time you check in at the endpoint. This includes some extra time in case you make mistakes along the way. Your score is the total miles from start to end. There is a 30-mile penalty for each one you miss. \n\n\n\nYou will be asked to select a Class. No classes exist for the Escape to Wisconsin Navigational Scatter; your selection will be used for the SCCA LOL Championship. Head over to Motorsportreg and sign up today! \n\n\n\nYou are responsible for ensuring the following are in order:Headlights (high and low beams) and parking lightsTaillights and brake lightsHorn\, windshield wipers\, and directional signalsRear-view mirrorFoot brakes and parking brakeTires (inspect for the condition of sidewalls as well as tread)Seat belts\, securely installed for the driver and navigatorSafety triangle (optional)First Aid Kit (optional)Tow Rope (optional)Fire Extinguisher (optional)

SUMMARY:NY: Do It Again RoadRally
DESCRIPTION:The SCCA Finger Lakes Region invites you to join them for a little Spring Rally fun\, with its Do It Again RoadRally. It is a Social Rally and not apart of any series or serious points race. \n\n\n\nHere are the details: \n\n\n\n\nYou follow the course\, maintaining speeds below the posted speed limit.\n\n\n\nAs you follow the route\, you will be timed at locations unknown to you. All checkpoints will be closed (you do not stop at them.)\n\n\n\nThe course is approximately 31 miles and should take about 56 minutes to complete.\n\n\n\nTeams then repeat the course route at 2:00+car #.\n\n\n\nFor the second time around the route\, checkpoint signs will be out where the cars are timed again. The score will be how close the minute and hundredths is to the time you passed on the first loop (if you did it the first time\, you should be able to do it a second time\, right?)\n\n\n\nIf you take a TA on the second passage\, text it to the phone number on the routes with a mileage where it occurred. Once a TA is taken\, the TA time applies for the rest of the second loop.\n\n\n\nCars will have a window chalk or magnetic number on each side of the car so the checkpoint worker can identify the car as it passes.\n\n\n\nRoutes would be handed out to the teams at Registration\, at the event.\n\n\n\nThere will be a brief Driver’s meeting at 12:45\, before the event.\n\n\n\nThe results will be calculated after the event and also emailed to all competitors in case you have to leave.\,\n\n\n\nWe will do results at the finish as quickly as we can so we can share rally stories and enjoy some after event camaraderie.\n\n\n\n\nClasses:    Experienced (if any team member has done more than 5 rallies)    Novice (new to rally where neither team member has done more than 5 rallies) \n\n\n\nRegistration is online with MotorsportReg and you can click here for more information\, too. You can also reach out to Rallymaster Andy Smith\, asmith2357@aol.com\, 585-314-6054

But you shouldn’t let puns go to waste\, so pretend it’s 3/3/2023\, grab your favorite Musketeer\, and join us for what was supposed to be the 3rd First Friday Niter of the year.  \n\n\n\nThere will be three legs with three stages per leg on this Tour rally of the Sierra Pelona Ridge. There are no traps this month\, and plenty of three\, er\, free zones to enjoy some of the best driving roads the region has to offer. Just make sure you’re on time outside those free zones because the checkpoints are unmarked – kind of like the pre-app days.  \n\n\n\nThis rally uses the Richta GPS Competitor app for timing and scoring\, with timing in seconds. This month’s maximum penalty is 60 seconds (1 minute) per checkpoint. The app is FREE and easy to use on any GPS-enabled smartphone. Go to the App Store or Google Play Store\, or https://richtarally.com/. There is no need for additional timing equipment or clocks to your Official Time shows in the app!  \n\n\n\nAlso\, if you want to see all the scores at the Finish\, download the FREE Richta Scoreboard app. \n\n\n\nPlease try to register online at MotorsportReg.com. This helps us determine how many Route Instructions to print\, trophies\, etc. If that doesn’t work for you\, you can still register in person at the start. We start at the Bank of America rear lot. In-person registration opens at 7:00 pm\, with the first car out at 8:01 pm; there is a beginner/Richta meeting at 7:40 pm. \n\n\n\nThe rally will finish at IHOP\, 1225 Truman St.\, San Fernando\, CA 91340.  This is close to the start\, so it’s a short drive back in case Drivers and Navigators meet at the start location. \n\n\n\nIs your usual rally partner not available for this FFN?  Let Jeanne know; she will attempt to match you up with another rallyist.  Contact Jeanne at ean21@juno.com.

SUMMARY:IL: St. Louis Region Tulips by Night
DESCRIPTION:A St. Louis Region\, SCCA\, Social Road Rally in conjunction with the St. Louis/Southern Illinois Gateway Sprints MiDiv Majors Weekend\, at World Wide Technology Raceway. \n\n\n\n\n\nDescription: Tulips by Night 2023 is an evening Monte-Carlo-style road rally/tour of about 50 miles. We have designed this event with the new/occasional rally team in mind. Expect paved county roads\, easy-to-follow tulip diagrams for route instructions\, and checkpoint locations identified both by official mileages and official arrival times. Timing will be in minutes and seconds\, with checkpoint arrival times calculated to whole minutes. For teams new to rallying\, a brief school before the event will explain how to run the event and answer questions a team might have. \n\n\n\nStart: World Wide Technology Raceway\, Madison\, IL. \n\n\n\nFinish: The Lucky Rooster Pub & Eatery\, 101 W. Main St.\, St. Jacob\, IL 62281. \n\n\n\nSize of the field: We are limiting the field to 15 teams. \n\n\n\nRegistration: Pre-event Registration only here at Motorsportreg. Entries on a first-come basis. You will find much more information about the event\, the Richta GPS Competitor App\, and you can reach out to Rallymaster Jim Heine\, too! \n\n\n\nMay 5 check-in and signing of waivers\, etc.: 6 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at World Wide Technology Raceway. \n\n\n\nRally school Q&A : 6:15 PM and the Safety meeting: 6:45 PM and First car departs the start: 7:01 p.m. \n\n\n\nFirst car arrived at finish: Approximately 9 p.m. (We will have a full moon\, the Flower Moon\, May 5\, with sunset at 7:56 p.m. With Mother Nature’s cooperation\, it should be a perfect occasion for an evening drive. The Lucky Rooster\, which is staying open just for us\, has a lovely patio also.) \n\n\n\nWhat you need: a car\, a Driver & Navigator\, a smartphone or tablet for the Richta GPS Competitor App\, a clipboard & calculator\, pencils & paper\, and a flashlight or map light to read route instructions after sundown—and an inclination to take an evening drive. \n\n\n\nWhat you don’t need: Special rally lights on your vehicle. (Your OEM headlights should do just fine.) \n\n\n\nEntry fee: $20.00 per team for SCCA Members\, $35.00 per team for Non-members. \n\n\n\nOther really good things to know–timing and scoring: Tulips by Night 2023 is a TSD (Time-Speed-Distance) event at which you will be timed at several locations along the rally route. We will use the Richta Rally GPS Checkpoint System for timing and scoring. To compete\, each participating team will need a smartphone or tablet with active data cellular service (no airplane mode and no wi-fi only devices!) with the Richta Competitor App installed. The app will report your arrival time and leg score to your cellphone or tablet moments after you pass each GPS checkpoint location. For more information about the Richta GPS system visit https://richtarally.com. Also\, the SCCA Detroit Region’s rally page has an excellent summary of the Richta system\, especially its Competitor App\, which you will use. Visit http://drscca.org/rally/using-the-richta-competitor-app. Visiting it is worth your time. \n\n\n\nAbout the St. Louis Region\, SCCA: The SCCA’s St. Louis Region\, with some 600 members\, offers Road Racing\, Performance Driving Experience (PDE)\, RallyCross\, RoadRally\, Solo (autocross)\, and Street Survival School programs to educate and provide safe environments for individuals to enjoy their street-legal (daily driver) cars and purpose-built racecars. The region is home to more than 80 national champions and has been recognized three times by the Sports Car Club of America as the Region of the Year in its member category. In 2023\, the region will host an “SCCA Majors” road-racing weekend and multiple Solo and RallyCross regional events. To learn more about the St. Louis Region\, visit www.stlscca.org. \n\n\n\nEvent requirements\n\n\n\nThe standard SCCA rules regarding road-rally registration will be observed (e.g.\, proof of valid drivers license and current auto insurance\, vehicle inspection [self-inspection by the rally team]\, signing of SCCA waiver/release forms\, including confirmation of valid SCCA Annual Minor Waivers for Minors). \n\n\n\nWaivers: All participants will be required to read and sign the standard SCCA waiver before being allowed to participate in this event. The signing of the SCCA’s “Release and Waiver of Liability\, Assumption of Risk and Indemnity Agreement” is a pre-condition to participating in any SCCA event. Any adult\, age 18 or older\, must sign the waiver. \n\n\n\nMinor Participants: A Minor taking part in an SCCA event\, including this event\, as a competitor\, on-track participant\, or volunteer or worker with access to restricted (hot) areas must have an Annual Minor Waiver on file for the calendar year. \n\n\n\nThe Age of Majority is 18 years except in Alabama and Nebraska\, where it is\, 19 and Mississippi\, where it is 21. \n\n\n\nThe Annual Minor Waiver will be issued to the Minor by the SCCA National Office. SUMMARY:TX: Texas Region Spring Paradise Trek
DESCRIPTION:The Texas Region of the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) invites all fellow car enthusiasts to this Spring Paradise Trek in Denton and Wise counties. A Trek is a non-competitive driving event on scenic country roads. We’ll provide basic route instructions as a backup only. All are welcome\, and no prior rally experience is necessary. \n\n\n\nWe’ll set out from The Horny Toad Café & Bar in Denton\, then wind our way on twisty back roads\, some of them within the LBJ National Grassland\, ending in Paradise\, Texas (the town\, not the state of mind). We’ll stop for a group picture at one or two sites along the route. For added fun\, we plan to stop along the way to visit Eagles Canyon Raceway (ECR)\, where we can briefly tour the facilities\, observe cars on track\, and enjoy a quick lunch at the Over the Top Bar & Grill. \n\n\n\n\nCheck-in and starting place: The Horny Toad Café & Bar\n\n\n\nRegistration/check-in: 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM on Rally Day\n\n\n\nSafety Briefing: 10:35 AM\n\n\n\nCars leave the start: 10:45 AM\n\n\n\nLength: ~90 miles (~4 hours\, including stops)\n\n\n\nFinish: ~3:00 pm in Paradise\, Texas\, where we will take a group photo.\n\n\n\nOptional before heading home: homemade ice cream at Bless Your Mouth near Bridgeport.  \n\n\n\nRally type: Trek. SUMMARY:IN: Dogwood Daze Tour Rally
DESCRIPTION:The Dogwood Daze Road Rally\, sanctioned by the SCCA Indianapolis Region\, is a time speed distance rally designed specifically for beginners\, but fun for non-beginners as well. This is a Tour-style rally that uses the Richta GPS Competitor App for timing. No tricky route instructions — just follow the instructions given to you. At each restart point you will re-zero your trip odometer and leave at the beginning of the next minute. After you leave the restart point\, the App will tell you what time you started. Simply drive a few miles per hours above the speed given in the instructions or you can add the leg time given in your route instructions to the app restart time and you will know the exact time that you need to arrive at the next control. It is quite possible for Novices to  score well\, and\, if you just want a nice drive in the country that ends with food and comradeship\, this event provides that as well. \n\n\n\n$40/car ($15 discount for SCCA members) \n\n\n\n1:00-1:30 PM   Registration (waivers and weekend member forms will be in registration packets) \n\n\n\n1:45 PM  Mandatory Safety Meeting \n\n\n\n2:00 PM + Car Number  Start of Rally \n\n\n\n5:00 PM + Car Number   Should arrive at end point  \n\n\n\nItems Needed: \n\n\n\n\nStreet legal car\n\n\n\nTwo people in the car (driver and navigator)\n\n\n\nPen/pencil/highlighter\n\n\n\nClipboard\n\n\n\nDedicated cell phone or GPS enabled tablet for checkpoint scoring\n\n\n\nOdometer/GPS or some other way to calculate your mileage\n\n\n\nCalculator might be helpful\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis is an SCCA RoadRally that requires a street legal vehicle with both a driver and a navigator in the vehicle. Additional passengers are allowed\, but there must be at least 2 individuals in the vehicle. Either (or both) the Driver and Navigator must be an SCCA member or Weekend Member.

SUMMARY:NJ: Second Hand Roads Divisional Tour Rally
DESCRIPTION:Sanctioned by the SCCA Northern New Jersey Region\, Second Hand Roads is a straightforward 90-mile Tour Rally with easy-to-follow instructions. The event will start at Subaru World of Hackettstown and end in Long Valley\, NJ. Designed so newcomers to the sport can easily complete the course with all turn instructions supported with official mileage and associated Car Zero Key Times. The Richta GPS Checkpoint app will permit approximately 60 timing controls. The route features the back roads in northwest New Jersey\, the hilly terrain of the Paulinskill River Valley\, and will include a stop for Ice Cream at the world Famous Blairstown Diner featured in the 1980 horror film Friday the 13th.  \n\n\n\nSecond Hands is a “Tour”-type rally with no traps or tricks – drive\, enjoy the great roads and marvelous scenery\, and try to arrive at each checkpoint at precisely the right time. It’s designed especially for people with little or no rally experience. Checkpoints will be along the way to monitor how well you follow the assigned average speeds. Awards are presented to the teams who do the best job of arriving at the checkpoints at the proper times.  \n\n\n\nYou may enter the Divisional event for those wishing to compete for SCCA National RoadRally Championship points. For those looking to enjoy an afternoon of friendly competition\, the Regional event is for you. \n\n\n\nThe Richta GPS Checkpoint app is free to use and will record your arrival time at each checkpoint. You’ll keep this app open while you run the rally\, and it will use the GPS signal from your device to record your arrival time at each checkpoint. Once you pass a checkpoint\, the app will automatically calculate your score for that checkpoint and announce it to you! No more waiting for the end of the rally to see how you did. SUMMARY:CA: Cal Club First Friday Niter
DESCRIPTION:It’s April\, and we all know what that means for the First Friday Niter.  But this time\, the joke is on us – Larry Scholnick is giving is a Tour Rally! So unlike all those previous April FFNs that Larry has written\, there is no need to be afraid of whatever foolishness there might have been for this rally. It’s a tour!!  The odometer check heads out to Westlake Village\, where the challenge to stay on time begins. The rally includes Potrero Road\, a trip through Newbury Park\, then more Potrero Road to a visit to Cal State Channel Islands\, and we finish with a loop of Loop! It’s a fun drive\, so come join us on April 7! \n\n\n\nThis rally uses the Richta GPS Competitor app for timing and scoring\, with timing in seconds. The maximum penalty this month is 120 seconds (2 minutes) per checkpoint. The app is FREE and easy to use on any GPS-enabled smartphone. Go to the App Store or Google Play Store\, or https://richtarally.com/. There is no need for additional timing equipment or clocks to your Official Time shows in the app!  \n\n\n\nAlso\, if you want to see all the scores at the Finish\, download the FREE Richta Scoreboard app also. \n\n\n\nPlease try to register online at msreg.com/FFN042023.  This helps us with figuring out how many sets of instructions to print\, and trophies\, and other stuff.  If that doesn’t work for you\, you can still register in person at the start. We start at the Bank of America rear lot. In-person registration opens at 7:00 pm\, with the first car out at 8:01 pm; there is a beginner/Richta meeting at 7:40 pm. \n\n\n\nThe rally will finish at Pizza Man Dan’s\, 2390 Las Posas Road\, Camarillo (a new Pizza Man Dan’s for us). \n\n\n\nIs your usual rally partner not available for this FFN?  Let Jeanne know and she will attempt to match you up with another single.  Contact Jeanne at ean21@juno.com.
