SUMMARY:TX to CA: The 4th Trans-America
DESCRIPTION:America is a land intrinsically linked with the automobile\, and whilst the United States cannot lay a claim to being the ones that invented the contraption that we are all obsessed with\, thanks to the likes of Ford and Durant et al. the motor car became something that would touch the lives of many and not just a few. It is a country that has inspired many\, with its tall tales\, cities that reach up to the heavens\, huge landscapes and its all-encompassing skies. There is a long tradition of travel and a pull to enjoy life on the road\, whether that be mounted on a Hog on Route 66\, cruising in a Cadillac on the road to nowhere on Highway 3 or following in the footsteps of Kerouac\, Moriarty and Ginsberg\, on the road is very much a way of life. \n\n\n\nOur own On the Road adventure will take us from Houston to San Francisco\, on a route that heads almost all the way north to the Canadian border and then back down to the ‘city by the bay.’ As always\, with our adventures\, the route will take us on roads less travelled and whilst to see America is to cruise the freeways and highways\, the roads that beckon those who choose to take on this trip will be an altogether less straight forward affair\, giving us all the pleasure of seeing an America that many eyes never get to see. As Kerouac himself said\, “There is nowhere to go\, but everywhere.” \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOver 21 days and thousands of miles our adventure will find our America\, it will introduce us to a land of contrasts\, some expected and some unexpected. Cowboy territory and the great plains will give way to the Rocky Mountains and high altitude passes\, as well as tumultuous river crossings as we forge our own route across the great divide. Gravel roads will often be our friends\, as we retrace the footsteps of the first pioneers that crossed these great lands\, national parks will be our solace against the dust of the plains and deserts\, offering a luscious oasis of green flora amongst fast flowing rivers and spectacular wildlife. For those with a head for heights the mighty Teton range will leave us breathless\, and the venerable and ancient trees of the Klamath Forest will leave us humbled. \n\n\n\nThe event is open for vintage and cars built before 1948 and for Classic cars of a type built before 1986. Cars of a later date but unchanged mechanical specification will be considered at the Organisers’ discretion. Classes based on engine size will subdivide these categories. \n\n\n\nThe event is suitable for both novice and more experienced crews. Many roads are good tarmac and gravel\, with competition on more remote roads\, private land or race circuits. An easy to follow tulip route book will be supplied. Our experienced team of officials will be at your disposal at all times to support you and we will provide hints and tips on navigation. \n\n\n\nWho can participate?\n\n\n\nThe event is open for vintage and cars built before 1948 and for Classic cars of a type built before 1986. SUMMARY:CA: Highway Robbery National Course Rally
DESCRIPTION:Highway Robbery\, an SCCA National RoadRally Course Championship Rally\, will run on Saturday\, August 19th. It’s a course rally that will test your ability to stay on course and on time. The rally will run primarily in San Bernardino County. There will be no absence of the sign traps and no lettered instructions. There will be ITIS (If There Is Such) instructions and a sign Aristotle (as per SMSCC Generals). There will be variable main road determinants\, but no more than four at any time (often only two). In fact\, you can run Highway Robbery using the SMSCC General Instructions with a short addendum instead of the RRRs if you want to. These are mostly the same generals we used on previous Highway Robberies. Jeanne English\, Rallymaster\, expects most contestants to do most legs correctly.

SUMMARY:TX: San Antonio 2023 Historic Tour RoadRally
DESCRIPTION:San Antonio has had more battles fought within its city limits than any other town in North America. These battles occurred while San Antonio was under the jurisdiction of Spain\, the Republic of Mexico\, The Republic of Texas\, and the Confederate States of America\, not to mention the United States. This Road Rally will take you to the approximate location of each site. However\, the exact location of some of the sites is unknown\, and other sites were running battles that ranged over several miles. If you want a more detailed investigation of any site\, you are encouraged to revisit any site on your own and at your convenience—the oldest two sites date from 1813\, and the youngest one from the 1870s. \n\n\n\nThis is a non-speed social Road Rally whose route will be along city streets\, and speed bumps may be an issue for some cars. We will start on the west side of San Antonio\, proceed to the far south side\, and then complete our tour just north of downtown. It should take 90 minutes and two hours for this RoadRally as you learn about the history of San Antonio. Questions may be asked along the route\, but awards are not based on questions or a car’s finish position. This RoadRally is meant to be a fun learning event and a social outing where all participants will vote on awards at our final destination. \n\n\n\nOn the event day\, Saturday\, 12 August 2023\, participants will meet at the west side of the Walmart Superstore parking lot in San Antonio. Registration will be from 1:00 to 2:00\, with a safety briefing at 1:45. After the safety briefing\, cars will be released for the route which takes place on city streets. Our destination is The Longhorn Cafe at 1003 Tittiman Road in San Antonio.

SUMMARY:TX: Tick Tock Rally
DESCRIPTION:You’re invited to the Tick Tock Rally\, an SCCA Regional Time-Speed-Distance (TSD) Tour Rally on scenic paved backroads of Denton County. All entrants are welcome. No prior rally experience is necessary—a precision driving event at fun speeds. Course following is easy with GPS mileage on every turn. We assign the speeds to drive. There are 67 timing checkpoints in about 81 miles of the rally route. This year’s rally will consist of four different kinds of checkpoints\, so you can experience various flavors of TSD Tour rallying.      \n\n\n\nWe plan to conduct a Rally School via Zoom (currently scheduled for August 6th) to help prepare for the rally (for details and to pre-register for the School\, go to http://msreg.com/TTR23RSmsr). We will post a YouTube video recording for those who can’t join the live session. We encourage you to attend the School. \n\n\n\n\nStarting Place:  Shell Station\, 1306 US-380 Bus\, Decatur\, TX 76234. SUMMARY:Cal Club First Friday Niter Social RoadRally
DESCRIPTION:Time for the August First Friday Niter!  Rallymaster Paul McGaffey has written a pure tour course using the Monte Carlo style timing. You will be given “Car Zero Times” at each Checkpoint. Just add your car number in minutes to the Car Zero Time to get your time to cross each Checkpoint. If you get there early\, you may stop or creep without penalty\, so long as you do it safely and out of traffic lanes. The course will take you through the magnificent driving roads of the Santa Monica Mountains and Finish at BJ’s Brewhouse\, 3955 Thousand Oaks Blvd\, Westlake Village. \n\n\n\nThis rally uses the Competitor Richta GPS Checkpoints app for timing and scoring\, with timing in seconds. This month’s maximum penalty is 60 seconds (1 minute) per checkpoint. The app is FREE and easy to use on any GPS-enabled smartphone. Go to the App Store or Google Play Store\, or https://richtarally.com/. There is no need for additional timing equipment or clocks – your Official Time shows in the app!  \n\n\n\nAlso\, if you want to see all the scores at the Finish\, download the FREE Richta Scoreboard app.  \n\n\n\nPlease try to register online at MotorsportReg. This helps us figure out how many sets of instructions to print\, trophies\, etc.  If that doesn’t work for you\, you can still register in person\, which opens at 7:00 pm\, with the first car out at 8:01 pm; there is a beginner/Richta meeting at 7:40 pm.

SUMMARY:OR: Northwest Classic Car Challenge
DESCRIPTION:In 2023\, the NW Classic Car Challenge will have it’s 34th running over the August 3-6th weekend. The rally will hold close to its roots\, featuring a classic TSD (time-speed-distance) road rally complete with MRDs/TRAPS\, rigorous course following (using OR and ITIS instructions)\, and this year we have added a relaxed Tour rally. Both travel wonderful twisty backroads from Portland\, OR to Eugene\, Oregon\, over two days of driving. \n\n\n\nBut we have also made some changes to change with the times. First\, you no longer need an old car to participate. We ENCOURAGE new sports car owners to join! We have special recognition planned for new Alfa owners. But ANY suitable modern car can sign up. If you don’t want to drive that finicky Spider or MG\, you can bring out your Mustang\, BMW\, or… \n\n\n\nOur presenting sponsor\, Vintage Underground\, forged another change to encourage new and younger participants. The tour can now be a traditional “follow-the-leader” format or ON YOUR OWN with a simplified route book. And all tour participants can take some pictures along the way\, like their car going through one of the seven covered bridges or other landmarks along the route. If they post the photos to Instagram or FaceBook with the event hashtag #NWCCRALLY\, they receive a raffle ticket for items raffled during the Awards Brunch on Sunday. The goal is to encourage and engage tour participants and have something for them to look forward to on Sunday besides the People’s Choice “Concours and Coffee.” \n\n\n\nAlso added to Sunday is a classic\, 1960s-style gymkhana. There is no cost; teams can watch\, participate\, or both (see details below in the comprehensive schedule). As of April 25th\, we have 34 RALLY entries and eight TOUR entrants at the time of writing. We expect 50-60 cars in total. \n\n\n\nHere is the planned schedule for the 34th NW Classic Car Challenge. The committee has created an enjoyable and complete weekend with social aspects and events beyond just a RALLY or a TOUR. It is a true bucket list event! \n\n\n\n#NWCCRALLY \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThursday Eve\, August 3rd\, 5–9:00 PM – SCRUTINEERING PARTY at Ron Tonkin Alfa Romeo in Beaverton. Come out and see the cars — everyone is welcome! \n\n\n\nFriday\, August 4th\, 8:00 AM – Ceremonial start of the NW Classic Car Challenge Rally and Tour from Ron Tonkin Alfa Romeo with a TV crew like Tony Martinez\, a Shriner as the starter\, and Scott Fisher has agreed to be the announcer. \n\n\n\n• SPECTATOR AREA along the route: Friends\, family\, and photographers cheer on the cars as they pass through a spectator point in the Portland/Tigard area. \n\n\n\n• Catered Lunch at the ZCBJ Hall in Scio\, OR. WiFi will be available for uploading Tour Challenge photos. \n\n\n\n• Day 1 ends at Valley River Inn\, Eugene ~4:30 PM\, with BEER sponsored in the parking lot \n\n\n\n• Evening Banquet – 6:30 PM with a slide show and KaHoots! Trivia Game \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSaturday\, August 5th\, 8:00 AM  – NW Classic Car Challenge Rally and Tour departs \n\n\n\n• Catered lunch in Cottage Grove\, Oregon area\, featuring Salmon! \n\n\n\n• Day 2 ends at Valley River Inn\, with a rose\, presented to each car \n\n\n\n• Cars will be escorted to the BEER WASH area\, where contestants are handed a bucket/sponge and fresh towels\, along with a beer\, and they wash their car. Why clean the car after the days’ adventures? So that after the lovely social evening\, they’re ready for Sunday morning’s Concours and Coffee in the parking lot with the PEOPLE’s CHOICE voting. \n\n\n\n• Cocktail Hour follows the Beer Wash at 5:45 PM with a slide show \n\n\n\n• Banquet Dinner starts at 6:45 PM\, with the featured Speaker at 7:45 PM \n\n\n\nOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA\n\n\n\nSunday Morning\, August 6th\, 7:00 AM – Concours and Coffee\, with voting until 9:00 AM. There is a hired Security Officer each evening to oversee the parking lot. \n\n\n\n• Awards Brunch\, 9:00 AM – Trophies presented to TSD Rallyists and draw raffle tickets for Tour Challenge contestants who gained tickets by doing well in the photography challenge. \n\n\n\n• 10:30 AM Special projected photo recognition for top Porsche on the Porsche Club stage\, for top NEW GUILIA\, and TOP PLACING 4C\, etc.\, and of course\, our CONCOURS winners are announced. \n\n\n\n• 11:15 AM – Adjourn for “FUNKHANA” in a nearby parking lot. Optional slow-speed driving event with challenges like STOPPING on a DIME\, TOSSING a ROD\, DRIVING A SLALOM in reverse\, hitting a blow-up clown while blindfolded\, and finally hitting a GIANT SOCCER BALL thru a goal. SUMMARY:PA: SCCA Heck's And Back Divisional RoadRally
DESCRIPTION:Heck’s and Back Roadrally is sponsored by the Philadelphia Region SCCA with the cooperation of Blue Mountain Region. The Heck’s and Back GTA RoadRally is a question-and-answer Divisional Rally that will traverse some scenic back roads in Berks County\, many of which will feature hex signs common in the area. Rallymasters Bruce Gezon and Clyde Heckler have designed a course that features some questions containing a few tricks (traps) to separate the scores.  \n\n\n\nWe offer two classes: Experienced (team members have run five or more rallies combined) and Novice.  There will be awards (hex sign themed) for first and second in Experienced\, and first through third for Novice entries.     \n\n\n\nOur route will cover approximately 70 miles\, and you will have 4 hours to complete it. The route is totally paved\, so there are no worries about dirt/rocks. \n\n\n\nAfter you register\, approximately two weeks before the event\, you will receive general instructions explaining the rules for the rally\, how to follow the course\, a glossary of terms included in the route instructions\, scoring\, etc.  General instructions will also eventually be available on this webpage.  \n\n\n\nStart:Saucony Creek Brewery Company + Gastropub in Kutztown\, PA.    \n\n\n\nSchedule of Events:10:30 am Registration opens at Saucony Creek Brewing Company + Gastropub.   \n\n\n\nPlease park in the parking lot to the left of the outdoor patio as you enter the parking lot (not in the front). SUMMARY:CA: June First Friday Niter Series
DESCRIPTION:On Friday\, July 7\, 2023\, please join us for an Into the Night rally takeover of the SCCA Cal Club Santa Monica Sports Car Club First Friday Niter. The Rallymaster is Joe Akerman. This rally will be a Monte Carlo/TSD rally\, meaning you get turn-by-turn directions AND your target time at each Checkpoint. All Timed Checkpoints are listed in the Route Instructions and referenced by prominent signs on the course\, in the style of our recent Thunder Road and Two Lane Blacktop rallies. This rally is about 70 miles long and will take about 2 hours. \n\n\n\nThis event aims to enjoy driving sweeping\, challenging back roads at legal speeds while following detailed directions to pass a series of Checkpoints at just the right time. No need for advanced math. No navigational traps or tricks. No riddles and no gimmicks — just beautiful roads to drive with a focus on precision and accuracy. This is a team sport — the Driver and Navigator must work together to get it right. \n\n\n\nThere are no set speeds. Just run at the posted speed limits (the rally is timed at least two mph BELOW those limits and has added pauses where needed). If you reach a timed Checkpoint early\, you can pull over out of traffic lanes and either creep in or stop and wait for your target time to cross the Checkpoint. \n\n\n\nWe will be using the Competitor – Richta GPS Checkpoints app for timing and scoring\, with timing in seconds. This app is FREE and easy to use on any GPS-enabled smartphone\, tablet\, or other Android or iOS device. Go to the Apple App Store\, Google Play Store\, or https://richtarally.com/ to download the app. There is no need for additional timing equipment or clocks – your Official Time shows in the app! \n\n\n\nPlease register online via motorsportreg.com. Go to https://msreg.com/FFN072023. The registration fee is $15 per car for SCCA members. If you are not an SCCA member\, you can get a weekend membership for only $15. You can then apply that amount to full annual membership within 60 days if you choose. \n\n\n\nWe start at the Bank of America rear lot in Mission Hills. In-person registration opens at 7:00 pm\, with the first car out at 8:01 pm; there is a Beginner/Richta meeting at about 7:30 pm. The finish will be at Pizza Man Dan’s in Moorpark.

SUMMARY:IN: Putnam Purple Cow Precision RoadRally
DESCRIPTION:Putnam Purple Cow Precision is a Tour RoadRally designed to be run by individuals attending the SCCA Time Trial event at Putnam Park Road Course the weekend of July 1-2\, 2023. While the goal on track is to go fast\, the goal of a RoadRally is to drive with precision and observation. The course will take participants into Cloverdale and back to Putnam Park while highlighting some of the amenities and unusual sites in the area. The entire course can be driven in less than an hour.  \n\n\n\nThe rally uses Richta GPS Checkpoints\, and participants may run it any time at their convenience from registration on Saturday until mid-afternoon on Sunday\,  If you are joining us for pizza in Cloverdale on Saturday evening\, you can drive the first part of the rally from Putnam Park to Cloverdale on the way and then finish the return trip whenever you would like. \n\n\n\nThe cost of the RoadRally is $25 per car for members. SUMMARY:CA: Two Lane Blacktop 2023 Road Rally
DESCRIPTION:TWO LANE BLACK TOP\, an SCCA Divisional Tour\, is the second event of the Cal Club and Into the Night Rally Team’s Double Rally Weekend! THUNDER ROAD 2023\, an SCCA National Tour Rally on Saturday\, June 17\, 2023 \n\n\n\nThis rally will run our favorite driving roads in the Santa Susana and Topatopa mountains (two of southern California’s transverse ranges) and through the farms\, orchards\, and open vistas of the Santa Clara River Valley\, including the historic towns of Fillmore and Santa Paula. \n\n\n\nThe Route Instructions for this event will use a simple Monte Carlo format\, meaning you get turn-by-turn directions and your target time at each Checkpoint. All Timed Checkpoints are listed in the Route Instructions and referenced by prominent signs on the course. The rally is a little over 150 miles long\, and you will have about 5 hours of driving excitement with frequent breaks for gas\, food\, and rest stops. \n\n\n\nAs with all Into The Night Rally Team events\, the object of this rally is to enjoy driving sweeping\, beautiful\, challenging back roads at legal speeds while following simple directions to pass a series of Checkpoints at just the right time.  \n\n\n\nRallymaster Joe Akerman says “There is no need for advanced math\, no riddles\, compasses\, maps or gimmicks\, just glorious roads to drive with a focus on precision and accuracy.” This is a team sport —the Driver and Navigator must work together to get it right. At least two people (Driver and Navigator) are required per car. The rally will run\, rain or shine. \n\n\n\nThere are no preset average speeds; just run at the posted speed limits (the rally is timed at least two mph BELOW those limits and has pauses where needed). If you reach a timed Checkpoint early\, you can pull over\, get out of traffic lanes\, and either creep or stop and wait for your target time to pass by the Checkpoint. \n\n\n\nWe will be using the Richta GPS Competitor app for timing and scoring. This app is FREE and easy to use on any GPS-enabled smartphone or tablet. Go to the App Store\, Google Play Store\, or https://richtarally.com/ and download it. There is no need for additional timing equipment; your Official Time shows in the app! \n\n\n\nThis event has been designed to be extremely EV friendly. There are charging stations at the Start\, in the area of the breaks\, and near the Finish. \n\n\n\nPlease register for TWO LANE BLACK TOP online here at MotorsportsReg. The Registration fee is $65 per car. There’s a $25 discount off the entry fee for TWO LANE BLACK TOP if you also run Thunder Road 2023 on Saturday. Use the code DOUBLEDOWN when you check out for TWO LANE BLACK TOP if you are running both rallies.  \n\n\n\nIf you do NOT run THUNDER ROAD 2023 and have at least one SCCA member in the car for TWO LANE BLACKTOP\, use the code 2LBSCCAONE for a $15 discount when you check out for TWO LANE BLACK TOP.  (If the “register now” button doesn’t work\, please reload this page and try again.) \n\n\n\nYou may still register in person at the Start. (Sorry\, but we cannot accept credit cards at Registration. Please use the MSR website to pay by credit card.) Rally day registration will be at the Holiday Inn Express and Suites\, our headquarters hotel\, in Valencia\, CA 91355\, exit 170 off Interstate 5 at Magic Mountain Parkway. \n\n\n\nTrophies will be awarded to the top teams in Classes E (Equipped)\, L (Limited equipment)\,  S (Stock)\, G (GPS-driven rally computers)\, and N (Novice – 3 or fewer previous rallies). \n\n\n\nMore Info can be found at www.itnrally.org and on our Into the Night Rally Team Facebook page. For any questions or more detailed information\, contact Rallymaster Joe via the info below.

SUMMARY:WI: Summer Solstice Navigational Scatter RoadRally
DESCRIPTION:SCCA Land O’Lakes hosts another “scatter rally” on Solstice Weekend. Please get in touch with the Rallymaster for more information on their Summer Solstice Navigational Scatter. \n\n\n\nNavigational Scatters were created to provide a rally challenge without the burden of staying on time.We track your progress using the MiRally transponders. Your course is converted to driving distance via GPS and Google Maps. This distance is how you will be scored. \n\n\n\nYou should be able to finish by sundown. \n\n\n\nThere are several locations to visit. Plot the shortest route that takes you by all of them. Although a map has been provided\, you may use any device you want to aid you\, including online mapping. Google Maps is helpful but does not always give the shortest route. The route between the points below offers many options. \n\n\n\nYou have three hours and 20 minutes from the time you check-in until the time you check-in at the endpoint. This includes some extra time in case you make mistakes along the way.Your score is the total miles from start to end. There is a 30-mile penalty for each one you miss. \n\n\n\nYou will be asked to select a Class. There are no classes at this event; the selection will be used for the LOL Championship.
