SUMMARY:WI: Spring Scamper RoadRally
DESCRIPTION:Milwaukee Region SCCA will host the 2024 Spring Scamper car rally on Sunday\, April 7th. You’re invited to join us for this new 100+ mile\, 4+ hour rally around Madison\, WI. No prior rally experience is necessary\, and any type of street-legal car is welcome. You do not have to be a member of SCCA to participate. \n\n\n\nRallymaster Jim Crittenden has designed a rally course that will take you on a scenic tour of the country roads south of Madison. This is not a race; it’s a game of precision driving where you’ll be challenged to arrive at each checkpoint at exactly the right time. Penalty points are assigned for being too fast or too slow. Trophies will be awarded to the teams with the best performances. There are no unpaved roads on the course.   \n\n\n\nYou’ll need a rally partner (Driver and Navigator) and a smartphone. The entry fee is $20 per person; two people are required in each car. Pre-registration is required; no walk-ins on the day of the event. This is a charity fundraiser for the Dane County Humane Society. This organization finds ‘furever’ homes for thousands of animals every year as well as providing emergency animal care for a variety of animals\, including dogs\, cats\, birds\, and other wildlife. Your entry fee will help support their efforts. Click here for more information about DCHS. \n\n\n\nWe’ll be using the Competitor—Richta GPS Checkpoint app system. The Richta GPS Checkpoint app will run on your smartphone\, record your arrival time at each checkpoint\, and then report your leg score immediately to you. No more waiting until the rally is over to see your score! You will need to bring a smartphone to run this rally. \n\n\n\nClasses for Spring Scamper:  \n\n\n\n1st Timer – No one in the car has run a road rally before. No math or timing calculations allowed. \n\n\n\nSOP (Seat Of the Pants) – No math or timing calculations allowed. No apps that continually report how early or late you are. Use speedometer to judge speed. \n\n\n\nCalculating – May use a device or an app to calculate earliness or lateness\, but rally computers are not allowed. Individuals\, colleges and universities\, car clubs\, and manufacturers are allinvited to participate.Entries in the rallies are now being accepted through the Toyota Green Grand Prix website atwww.greengrandprix.com.The diversity of the day’s activities emphasizes the breadth of the goals of the Green GrandPrix. “The mission of the Toyota Green Grand Prix is educational\, to promote innovation insustainable transportation technologies\,” said Bob Gillespie\, chairman of the Green Grand PrixCorp.\, a non-profit organization. “We are proud that our event\, in its twelthth year\, attracts students from universities\, colleges and high schools. We want the Green Grand Prix to be a means of encouraging technology students to stay in the Northeast to help move our region to become a center for clean energy.”The Toyota Green Grand Prix’s rallies\, sanctioned by the SCCA\, offer the challenges and excitement of driving on the race track and on open roads. \n\n\n\nThe day’s first event will be the Doris Bovee Memorial Road Rally. This is a Time-Speed-Distance event held on scenic Finger Lakes Region public roads. Drivers and navigators will be scored on their ability to follow a challenging course at precise legal speeds. A 100-mile\, fuel economy event on the 2.45 mile WGI short track will follow in the afternoon. This is essentially the same configuration as the original 1957 track. The rallies are open to nearly all classes of road vehicles. The afternoon fuel economy event will include the Prius Challenge\, with special competition categories for all generations of Toyota Prius. A class for Exhibition category vehicles will also be included. \n\n\n\n“The rallies will allow competitors to establish fuel economy records in various categories on this world-famous racing venue\, now completely repaved\,” Gillespie said. \n\n\n\nMany hybrids\, plug-in hybrids and full electric vehicles are expected. \n\n\n\nThe Doris Bovee Foundation is one of the Green Grand Prix’s key supporters\, and the morning event is named in the honor of Doris Bovee\, who was a well-known area environmentalist and taught for many years in the Corning-Painted Post (NY) school district. She was known for her love of plants and birds. Ms. Bovee was also involved with SCCA road rallies and was part of the Glen Region SCCA at its inception. SUMMARY:CA: Hernandez Hideaway Road Rally
DESCRIPTION:Join the SCCA San Diego Region on Saturday\, April 6th (yes\, this is our rescheduled February 3rd rally) for a navigational TSD (time/speed/distance) Road Rally on public roads at assigned (legal) speeds. A score will be awarded based on your correct arrival time at checkpoints. \n\n\n\nOur 75-mile route for Hernandez Hideaway Road Rally will start at Hernandez Hideaway Restaurant and then head into the twisty coastal roads of San Diego County\, finishing at the Hernandez Hideaway Restaurant.  \n\n\n\nA beginner’s video will be shared online the week before the event. You will need paper\, a pencil/pen\, a watch or clock with a second hand\, a stopwatch\, and a clipboard. A valid driver’s license and proof of current liability insurance are required. Your vehicle must meet basic safety standards (e.g.\, lights\, brakes\, windshield wipers\, and horn must work). The Driver’s meeting will be held on the morning of the event around 8:00 AM. \n\n\n\nThe cost is $30 per car and requires a street-legal vehicle\, a Driver\, and a Navigator. The Driver or Navigator must be an SCCA Member; Weekend Memberships are available for $20 during registration and can be used for credit toward a full SCCA Membership.   \n\n\n\nResults will be posted online. DESCRIPTION:It’s April—the month of fools. And that means Larry Scholnick is the Rallymaster for the April First Friday Niter\, sanctioned by the Santa Monica Sports Car Club and the SCCA\, Cal Club Region! Larry is fooling us by having a trapless rally—yes\, it is a tour! There are two lettered instructions that have you change speed at each “something.” All checkpoints are listed in the route instructions.  \n\n\n\nThe rally finishes at IHOP\, 39176 10th St W. Palmdale. \n\n\n\nThis rally uses the Richta GPS Competitor app for timing and scoring\, with timing in seconds. This month’s maximum penalty is 60 seconds (1 minute) per leg. The app is FREE and easy to use on any GPS-enabled smartphone. Go to the App Store\, Google Play Store\, or https://richtarally.com/. DESCRIPTION:Round five of the Finger Lakes Region’s 2024 Winter Rally Series. Slip Sliding Fever Rally is approximately 190 rally miles on paved\, dirt\, muddy and possibly(?) snowy roads. In keeping with the Winter Rally Series format\, this is an evening TSD rally run at speeds within the local speed limits. \n\n\n\nRoute instructions are provided in Tulip diagram format (line drawings of each intersection) with mileages provided. Teams should have a wrist or stopwatch\, a calculator\, flashlight and a pen. A Novice School will be available prior to the Driver’s Meeting to help first-timers out. \n\n\n\nEntry fees are $45/car + $15 for Weekend Membership if one team member in the car is not an SCCA member. There is a 30-car limit\, so early registration is recommended (msreg.com). It is created for easy navigation and maximum driving fun through the Santa Monica Mountains. It is perfect for beginners\, as well as people who just want a relaxed drive with a little competition thrown in. \n\n\n\nRallymaster Paul McGaffey has written a pure tour course using Monte Carlo-style timing. You will get very simple\, turn-by-turn instructions with no tricks\, traps\, or boring average speeds. You will be given exact mileages and “Car Zero Times” at each Checkpoint. So\, no guesswork\, no complicated math. Just add your car number in minutes to the Car Zero Time\, and you know when to cross each clearly visible Checkpoint sign. Team information will carry over to Feb. 24.) \n\n\n\nThis St. Louis Region\, SCCA\, Wolf Moon 2024 is an evening Monte-Carlo-style tour and social event of about 60 miles similar to the Region’s Tulips by Night and Tulips Redux road rallies. Expect paved Madison County\, IL\, county roads\, easy-to-follow tulip diagrams for route instructions\, and several GPS checkpoints. \n\n\n\nWe will have Check-in at 5PM\, Safety Check at 545P\, and the first car departs at 601PM. \n\n\n\nThe Wolf Moon 2024\, will have a limited field of 20 teams. There is only pre-registration available for this event and you’ll find more details at Motorsportreg. We start from the Troy Park & Ride and will end at DeCamp Station Roadhouse on historic Route 66 (today\, Illinois 4) outside Staunton\, Ill. DeCamp Station has been a stop on Route 66 since the highway was established in 1926. Over its 98-year history\, DeCamp has served as a speakeasy\, gangster hangout\, brothel\, dance hall\, tourist camp/motor hotel\, and local restaurant/tavern. Today\, it is a classic neighborhood sports bar as well as a popular local venue that hosts summertime softball and volleyball leagues and tournaments. It is also a celebrated member of the Illinois Route 66 Scenic Byway program and has been recognized for its preservation efforts by the National Park Service’s Route 66 Preservation Program.  \n\n\n\nWhat you need: \n\n\n\n\n A vehicle\n\n\n\nA Driver and Navigator\n\n\n\nA smartphone or tablet with the Competitor – Richta GPS Checkpoints App installed (this app\, free from Google Play or Apple’s App Store\, is our timing and scoring system\n\n\n\nA clipboard and calculator\, pencils and paper\n\n\n\nA map light or similar device\n\n\n\nA happy inclination to take a wintertime evening drive\n\n\n\n\nEntry fee: $20.00 per team for SCCA teams\, $40.00 for non-member teams. SUMMARY:• IN: Cabin Fever Vaccine Drive
DESCRIPTION:The Cabin Fever Vaccine Drive is a simple Time/Speed/Distance drive for lunch to The Overlook in Leavenworth\, Indiana. It’s a vaccine without pills or needles and has now been approved by the RRSS (which is not the FDA). \n\n\n\nThe route is all nicely paved and is nearly overloaded with checkpoints.  In a break from our norm\, the event will be scored in six sections with cumulative scoring within each section.  (If you don’t understand\, don’t fret.  It won’t be a problem.) \n\n\n\nThink of the vaccine as a simple drive with lots of feedback on your ability to maintain a constant speed. The checkpoints come so often that there’s little time for much correcting between some of the checkpoints. There are few speed changes. Free zones are through congested areas\, so there is no CAST issue stress there. With the number of checkpoints\, high checkpoint scores (without WORKING to get them) should be rare. Total scores may be another thing because there are SO MANY checkpoints\, and the cumulative scoring ripple. \n\n\n\nThis 80-mile route even has two bio break opportunities. \n\n\n\nThe starting point is the McDonald’s on Bartlett Ave. in Evansville.Check-in at 9:00 A.M. This car rally is sanctioned by the Thunder Bay Autosport Club\, with Rallymaster Brad Folino. The rally will gather at the rally sponsor\, Half-Way Motors in Thunder Bay. \n\n\n\nThe course will take you on a fun and (mostly) friendly adventure around the Thunder Bay Area\, so book the evening of February 10th to come and have a fun-filled evening with your team of a Driver and Navigator and\, of course\, your vehicle of choice. Roads are asphalt and gravel\, bare and snow covered\, over the route of approximately two-and-a-half hours. \n\n\n\nCost: $30/car (Driver/Navigator). Passengers $10 each. DESCRIPTION:A Northeast Ohio tradition since 1966 is back! Neohio Region\, SCCA invites you to enter the 2024 Ohio Winter Rally. The ~165-mile route will traverse portions of northeast Ohio’s Lake Erie “snowbelt” counties.\n\n\n\nCompetitors can expect an absolutely straightforward\, gimmick-free\, Time-Speed-Distance (TSD) road rally with an emphasis on precise timing at well-placed controls.\n\n\n\nThe Divisional Rally will count toward both the SCCA Great Lakes Division Rally Championship and the SCCA National Touring Rally Championship as a Divisional Rally.\n\n\n\nCompetition Classes: \n\n\n\n     E – Equipment unrestricted. \n\n\n\n     L – Odometer unrestricted. SUMMARY:CA: Cal Club First Friday Niter Social Roadrally
DESCRIPTION:It is time for the First Friday Niter Road Rally of 2024\, sanctioned by The SCCA\, Cal Club Region\, and the Santa Monica Sports Car Club\, and it starts off with Rallymaster Joanna Weissen\, who is taking us on her annual tour of Christmas lights. We are traveling primarily in Burbank this year with some Glendale thrown in. There are lots of lights\, including a couple of displays with synchronized music (if they are still up – cross your fingers). The rally ends at the IHOP at 913 N San Fernando Blvd\, Burbank\, CA 91504\, 818-842-8622. \n\n\n\nThis rally uses the Richta GPS Competitor app for timing and scoring\, with timing in seconds. This month’s maximum penalty is 30 seconds (one-half minute) per leg. The app is FREE and easy to use on any GPS-enabled smartphone. Go to the App Store\, Google Play Store\, or https://richtarally.com/. There is no need for additional timing equipment or clocks – your Official Time shows in the app!  \n\n\n\nIf you want to see all the scores at the Finish\, download the FREE Richta Scoreboard app. \n\n\n\nPlease try to register online here on MotorSportReg. If that doesn’t work for you\, you can still register in person at the start. We start at the Bank of America rear lot; in-person registration opens at 7:00 PM\, with the first car out at 8:01 PM; there is a beginner/Richta meeting at 7:40 PM. DESCRIPTION:Soon\, the Finger Lakes Region’s 2024 Winter Rally Series will kick-off. The December Dash 2023 Road Rally is a novice rally\, training rally\, and tune-up rally all in one. Come learn to do time-speed-distance rallies! This is a straightforward TSD rally. Instructions will be very verbose to help the first-time rallyist. Roads are generally paved but may go onto smooth\, wide dirt roads. Yes! you can bring your lowered Miata. \n\n\n\nEntry fees are $25/car.
