SUMMARY:IL: St. Louis Region RoadRally School #5
DESCRIPTION:St. Louis Region Rally School #5 \n\n\n\nSaturday\, August 24th \n\n\n\nDescription: Rally School #5 is the fifth and final event of the St. Louis Region’s 2024 five-event Novice Series\, which will introduce teams to the basic conventions of SCCA rallying. The series is open to new and returning or occasional teams seeking to refresh their rally skills. Each school event will focus on a particular aspect of road rallying\, building on the preceding event. Teams may run all five events or only those that suit their schedules. \n\n\n\nThe five events of the series are April 27\, June 1\, June 29\, July 27\, and August 24. Registration for each event normally opens three weeks before the event’s date. \n\n\n\nStart and finish: Sunset Overlook\, 11604 Bluff Road\, Columbia\, Ill. \n\n\n\nSize of the field: We are limiting each field to 20 teams. \n\n\n\nRegistration: Pre-event registration is only available at MotorsportReg.com. Entries for STL Rally School #5 are accepted on a first-come basis. Registration closes Wednesday\, August 21st\, at 11:59 p.m. \n\n\n\n\nAugust 24th check-in: 2:30 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. at Sunset Overlook.\n\n\n\nRally school and safety meeting: 3:15 p.m.\n\n\n\nFirst car departs the start: 4:01 p.m.\n\n\n\nFirst car arrives at the finish: approximately 6:15 p.m.\n\n\n\n\nWhat you need: \n\n\n\n\n A vehicle\n\n\n\nA driver and navigator\n\n\n\nA smartphone or tablet with the Competitor – Richta GPS Checkpoints app installed (this app\, free from Google Play or Apple’s App Store\, is our timing and scoring system–see timing and scoring note below for more details)\n\n\n\nA clipboard and calculator\, pencils and paper\n\n\n\n\nEntry fee: $25.00 per team for SCCA teams and $45.00 per team for non-member teams. An SCCA team is defined as a team in which at least one participant is an SCCA member. The $45.00 entry fee for a non-member team includes a $20.00 SCCA Weekend Membership for the team’s “primary entrant\,” i.e.\, the member who pays the entry fee. The other member of a non-SCCA team will receive a free SCCA Trial Membership (as will any non-SCCA member of an SCCA team). \n\n\n\nInformation: J. Thomas vonHatten\, Rallymaster\, 314-715-1398\, tom.vonhatten@gmail.com \n\n\n\nGood things to know: As indicated above\, we will use the Competitor – Richta GPS Checkpoint app for timing and scoring. To compete\, each participating team must have a smartphone or tablet with active data cellular service (no airplane mode and no Wi-Fi-only devices) and the Richta Competitor App installed. The app will report your arrival time and leg score to your cellphone or tablet moments after you pass each GPS checkpoint location. To download the app\, search for “Competitor Richta” or “Richta GPS Competitor App”  at Google Play or Apple’s App Store. For more information about the Richta GPS system\, visit https://richtarally.com. \n\n\n\nThe SCCA Detroit Region’s rally page has an excellent summary of the Richta system\, especially its Competitor App. Visit http://drscca.org/rally/using-the-richta-competitor-app. It is worth your time. \n\n\n\nAbout the St. Louis Region\, SCCA: The SCCA’s St. Louis Region\, with some 600 members\, offers Road Racing\, Performance Driving Experience (PDE)\, RallyCross\, RoadRally\, Solo (autocross)\, and Street Survival School programs to educate and provide safe environments for individuals to enjoy their street-legal (daily driver) cars and purpose-built racecars. The Region is home to more than 80 National Champions and has been recognized four times by the Sports Car Club of America as the Region of the Year in its member category. To learn more about the St. Louis Region\, visit www.stlscca.org. \n\n\n\nEvent Requirements\n\n\n\nRules and Waivers: \n\n\n\nThe standard SCCA rules regarding road rallies will be observed. To wit: proof of valid driver’s license and current auto insurance\, vehicle inspection (self-inspection by the rally team)\, and signing of applicable SCCA forms. \n\n\n\nAll participants will be required to read and sign the standard SCCA waiver before being allowed to participate in this event. The signing of the SCCA “Release and Waiver of Liability\, Assumption of Risk and Indemnity Agreement” is a precondition to participating in any SCCA event. Any adult 18 or older must sign the waiver. \n\n\n\nMinor Participants: A Minor taking part in this event must have an Annual Minor Waiver on file with the SCCA for the current calendar year\, i.e.\, 2024. \n\n\n\nThe Age of Majority is 18 except in Alabama and Nebraska\, where it is 19\, and Mississippi\, where it is 21. \n\n\n\nThe Annual Minor Waiver will be issued to the Minor by the SCCA National Office. For more information about this process\, click on the following document and see the section “Minor Annual Waivers”: Digital Annual Waiver 12-01-2021.pdf. \n\n\n\nBefore obtaining an “Annual Waiver Minor” for a child\, non-member parents/guardians\, as well as the Minor in question\, must obtain an SCCA Guest Account. \n\n\n\n1. Log onto scca.com. \n\n\n\n2. Click “Join/Renew” in the information bar at the top of the page. \n\n\n\n3. Click on “Create a Guest Account.” \n\n\n\n4. Click on “I don’t have a Member ID.” \n\n\n\n5. Complete the required information. \n\n\n\nOnce you\, as parents or guardians\, have received your Guest Accounts\, you can begin the process of acquiring an Annual Minor Waiver for your child. See again the document noted above: Digital Annual Waiver 12-01-2021.pdf. \n\n\n\nDo not wait until the last minute to obtain an Annual Minor Waiver for your Minor child/participant. SCCA staff are normally not available after regular business hours or on weekends\, so a last-minute Waiver request cannot be processed before the start of this road rally. Without a valid waiver\, your Minor will not be allowed to participate. \n\n\n\nFinally\, please read carefully: \n\n\n\nIf you are registering for the first time and paying for the event entry\, choose Option 1 on the order form and follow the prompts. \n\n\n\nIf you are registering as a co-entrant and your partner has already registered\, choose Option 2 on the order form. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n Leave a ReplyCancel reply \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n\n This site uses Akismet to reduce spam. SUMMARY:BC: Rush to Gold Bridge
DESCRIPTION:The Rush to ‘Gold Bridge’ (R2GB) is our end-of-August\, 3-day driving event organized by Classic Car Adventures. Originally conceived as “Dave’s Birthday Touring Adventure\,” our first year took us to Gold Bridge… thus\, the event was called “The Rush to Gold Bridge.” The actual destination is subject to change yearly\, but the name remains the same! The event features a mixed Tarmac and Gravel route\, with additional instructions for those who’d prefer a 100% tarmac adventure. Each entrant will receive both route options and maps to show when and where each route will cross similar points. We’ve made every effort to adjust the routes and timings so that all participants can meet up for breaks mid-day and arrive at the hotels at a similar time.  \n\n\n\nImagine\, if you will\, a group of Classic Car Enthusiasts who literally just love to drive and hang out together. Some of us are going to try some gravel roads. The other members of our group\, the tarmac set\, is made up of folks who love to get out and drive\, but really aren’t sure about subjecting their cars to some gravel. That\, in a nutshell\, is the “Rush to Gold Bridge.” \n\n\n\nThe route for the 2024 R2GB will remain secret until entrants receive their “route-book” at registration. Instructions for this year’s event will be a combination of Google Maps instructions\, photocopies of older CCA event route books\, relevant map sections\, and GPS destination points (where available). Entrants are expected to arrive with good humor and a willingness to explore\, and a sense of humor when a road is found not to exist or a locked gate is encountered. You will not need any special rally equipment or rally knowledge. The event consists of paved and gravel roads through mountainous terrain\, with driving scheduled through daylight hours. \n\n\n\nA sense of humour\, and adventure\, is expected of all our entrants. \n\n\n\nFor more information and to register your team\, click here.

SUMMARY:CA: Cal Club First Friday Niter Social Roadrally
DESCRIPTION:The First Friday Niter Road Rally\, a five-decade tradition\, is sanctioned by the SCCA\, Cal Club Region\, and the Santa Monica Sports Car Club!   \n\n\n\nJoin us for August First Friday Niter on August 2nd for another Tour Rally in the Citrus Blossom Series presented by Santa Monica Sports Car Club. Rallymaster Rachel Smith has written this rally using some of her favorite roads\, which she says are “all about the view.” The rally will head West along SR 126\, but won’t quite go into Ventura County this time. After a few miles in the local hills\, the rally heads back into Santa Clarita\, ending at Toppers Pizza\, 23710 Valencia Blvd\, Santa Clarita (corner of Valencia and Magic Mtn). Come on out and help us celebrate the club’s 64th Anniversary! \n\n\n\nThis rally uses the Competitor—Richta GPS Checkpoints app for timing and scoring\, with timing in tenths of seconds. The maximum penalty this month is 120 seconds (2 minutes) per checkpoint. The app is FREE and easy to use on any GPS-enabled smartphone. Go to the App Store or Google Play Store\, or https://richtarally.com/ to download. There is no need for additional timing equipment or clocks – your Official Time shows in the app!  \n\n\n\n Also\, if you want to see all the scores at the Finish\, download the FREE Richta Scoreboard app. \n\n\n\nPlease try to register online at MotorSportReg at msreg.com/FFN082024. If that doesn’t work for you\, you can still register in person at the start. We start in the rear lot at the Bank of America in Mission Hills.  In-person registration opens at 7:00 pm\, with the first car out at 8:01 pm; there is a beginner/Richta meeting at 7:40 pm. \n\n\n\nIs your usual rally partner not available for this FFN? Let Jeanne know and she will attempt (no guarantees) to match you up with another single.  Contact Jeanne at ean21@juno.com.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n Leave a ReplyCancel reply \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n\n This site uses Akismet to reduce spam. SUMMARY:PA: New Hope Auto Show Every Car Road Rally
DESCRIPTION:The New Hope Automobile Show’s Road Rally has become popular. Many people come year after year to compete for trophies and enjoy the challenges of our scavenger hunt. \n\n\n\nCars of all kinds are welcome to participate. Of course\, being The New Hope Automobile Show\, we encourage people to bring their classic cars\, but your everyday car will work just fine. The cost is $60 per car. \n\n\n\nThis year\, we have a very special Road Rally. After you’ve answered all the clues along the route\, you’ll find yourself in one of Bucks County’s most beautiful parks. We invite you to pack a picnic lunch before leaving home. There will not be any places along the route to purchase lunch. You may not bring alcohol into the park. It’s the law. At the park\, there will be a pavilion where you can sit to eat\, or bring a blanket or lawn chairs and spread out on the ground. \n\n\n\nWelcome SCCAThis year\, we’re again teaming up with the Philadelphia Region of the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA). Their support for our event assures us that it is safe and allows us to continue our road rally for years to come. \n\n\n\nGet a head start.A crucial part of this collaboration with the SCCA will be requiring all participants to complete a temporary SCCA membership form\, which all drivers and navigators must complete before they can drive in the rally. The forms are provided here\, so you can download them\, fill them out\, sign them\, and bring them with you on the morning of the rally. This will allow us to get the rally going on time. \n\n\n\nFor more information and Registration\, click here! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n Leave a ReplyCancel reply \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n\n This site uses Akismet to reduce spam. Each car will drive on paved public roads using a set of predefined route instructions through various checkpoints using the Competitor – Richta GPS app. Participants will be scored based on their arrival time at each defined checkpoint. We will start at McDonald’s in eastern Savannah\, where cars will depart 1 minute apart. The finish will be a sit-down restaurant in Tybee Island\, where scoring\, awards\, and lunch will be available (you are responsible for purchasing your own food; we encourage everyone to eat and support the location).  \n\n\n\nAre you new to road rallies or unsure what this is all about? Check out this (somewhat lengthy but humorous) video explanation.  \n\n\n\nAny car is allowed that meets all Georgia state laws and is insured to meet the state’s minimum requirements. A valid driver’s license and proof of insurance will be required at on-site registration. Each car is allowed as many people as there are seat belts in the vehicle\, but each car must have at least 2 people\, a Driver and a Navigator. There will be a starting location\, five (5) unmanned checkpoints\, followed by a sixth checkpoint at the finishing location. Team numbers will be assigned but the starting order will be determined randomly. \n\n\n\nClasses for this rally: Stock\, Limited\, and Seat of Your Pants. \n\n\n\n\nStock: Using your vehicle’s stock trip/odometer\, smartphone as a calculator\, and a stopwatch (perhaps the same or another smartphone). This is the most common class and recommended for novices.\n\n\n\nLimited: Using the car’s built-in navigation system to show distance traveled\, a 3rd party GPS tracking system via mobile app (i.e. Richta Odometer\, Maps\, or a Odometer/Trip app)\, as long as that information isn’t transferable to the calculating device (i.e. can’t be the same smartphone running the app and calculations).\n\n\n\nSOP: Just your odometer\, pens/pencils\, stopwatch\, and gut instincts. No calculator of any kind.\n\n\n\n\nOnline registration for the Driver and Navigator is required. To register\, please visit:  \n\n\n\nStarting Location: McDonald’s Finishing Location: The Crab Shack\, 40 Estill Hammock Rd\, Tybee Island\, GA 31328Registration Fee: $30 for SCCA members\, $50 for non-SCCA Members (Weekend Membership required)Estimated Duration: 40 miles\, just over 1.5 hours; breaks are allowed along the way at your leisure. Required Equipment: Dedicated smart phone with Richta Competitor mobile app\, cannot be used while the rally is active. Download at https://richtarally.com/ Recommended Equipment: Clipboard\, pencils/pens\, highlighters\, stopwatches (smartphone ok)\, calculator\, secondary (and/or 3rd) smartphone \n\n\n\nEvent Schedule:Monday May 21st at 12:01am – Online event registration opensWednesday July 17th 11:59pm – Online event registration closesSaturday July 20th 9:30am – On-site check-in opensSaturday July 20th 10:45am – First car outSaturday July 20th 12:15pm (estimated) – First car arrivesSaturday July 20th 1:15pm (estimated) – Award ceremony \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n Leave a ReplyCancel reply \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n\n This site uses Akismet to reduce spam. SUMMARY:CA: Cal Club First Friday Niter Social Roadrally
DESCRIPTION:Time is coming soon for the July First Friday Niter Road Rally\, sanctioned by the SCCA\, Cal Club Region\, and the Santa Monica Sports Car Club!  Rallymaster Joe Akerman has written a pure tour course using Monte Carlo-style timing. This is a BEGINNER FRIENDLY event!  It has been created for maximum driving fun and easy navigation. You will get very simple\, turn-by-turn instructions with no tricks\, traps\, or boring average speeds. You will be given “Car Zero Times” at each Checkpoint and exact mileage. So\, no guesswork\, no complicated math. Just add your car number in minutes to the Car Zero Time\, and you will know when to cross each clearly visible Checkpoint sign.  If you get there early\, you may stop or creep without penalty\, so long as you do it safely and out of traffic lanes. \n\n\n\nThis rally uses the Richta GPS Competitor app for timing and scoring\, with timing in seconds. This month’s maximum penalty is 60 seconds (1 minute) per leg. The app is FREE and easy to use on any GPS-enabled smartphone. Go to the App Store\, Google Play Store\, or https://richtarally.com/. There is no need for additional timing equipment or clocks – your Official Time shows in the app!  \n\n\n\nIf you want to see all the scores at the Finish\, download the FREE Richta Scoreboard app. \n\n\n\nPlease try to register online here on MotorSportReg. If that doesn’t work for you\, you can still register in person at the start. We start at the Bank of America rear lot; in-person registration opens at 7:00 PM\, with the first car out at 8:01 PM; there is a beginner/Richta meeting at 7:40 PM. We’ll head out to the backroads of the Angeles National Forest before finishing at the Toppers Pizza at Sierra and Soledad in Santa Clarita. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n Leave a ReplyCancel reply \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n\n This site uses Akismet to reduce spam. SUMMARY:CO: Colorado Adventure Rally
DESCRIPTION:Experience Colorado in the summertime with this week-long car rally. It will take you and your rally partner on an adventure trip through the Colorado Rocky Mountains. No prior rally experience is required\, and any street-legal car is welcome. Bring that car you love to drive and explore the beauty of Colorado with us. \n\n\n\nThe Colorado Adventure Rally is co-Hosted by the Sports Car Club of America Continental Divide and Colorado Regions. \n\n\n\nChair and Rallymaster: Jim CrittendenSCCA precheck and safety steward: Steve Gaddy  \n\n\n\nThe 2024 Colorado Adventure Rally is not a race. It is a time-speed- distance (TSD) rally where the game is precision driving\, maintaining an assigned average speed (never above the legal speed limit)\, and arriving at multiple checkpoints at precisely the right time. You’ll be assigned penalty points for being too fast or slow at each checkpoint. Trophies will be awarded to the teams with the fewest penalty points. \n\n\n\nThe rally route includes both paved and unpaved roads. Approximately 25% of the route is unpaved. All of the roads on the rally can be safely traversed by any street-legal car. This is a Regional Tour rally\, so there are no tricks or traps\, just easy-to-follow route instructions\, gorgeous scenery\, and roads that are great fun to drive. \n\n\n\nColorado Adventure Rally ItinerarySunday\, June 23\, 2024: Rally from Denver to Glenwood Springs\, CO. \n\n\n\nCheck-in at Glenwood Hotel for two nights. \n\n\n\nMonday\, June 24: Free day for activities in Glenwood Springs. You’ll make your own hotel reservations but are not obligated to stay at the rally hotels. The cost of hotels is not included in the rally registration fee. We expect your hotel costs for 6 nights to be around $1600. \n\n\n\nActivities: On the three activity days\, we’ll provide a list of activities for you to choose from. SUMMARY:MN: Green Heck Gravel Rally
DESCRIPTION:The Green Heck Road Rally\, sanctioned by the SCCA Land ‘o Lakes Region\, is a Regional Tour all-night regularity (TSD) rally run on the twisty\, technical\, and hilly forest roads north of Park Rapids\, MN. Honoring the long history of stage rallies in the area\, this event sends you down some of the same stage roads used by John Buffum\, Rod Millen\, and Doug Shepherd in the Group B era. Battle the terrain and your own endurance as you drive toward the sunrise. \n\n\n\nWe have secured a recce exemption from ARA for Ojibwe Forests Rally competitors. \n\n\n\nEach car must include two people: a Driver and a Navigator. No other passengers are allowed. A special release is required if your Navigator is a minor (under 18 years of age). No special equipment is required. We recommend you download the Rabbit Rally 2.0 app to use our interactive digital roadbook and GPS timing for the most fun. You do NOT need to do an odometer calibration for G (GPS) Class\, but one will be available if you choose to do so. Rabbit Rally 2.0 offers an interactive digital roadbook and does all calculations so that you always know if you are on time. Time Allowances are now integrated directly into Rabbit for easier operation. \n\n\n\nScoring is done via independent GPS boxes mounted on your windows. \n\n\n\nRabbit Rally Info \n\n\n\nThe rally will start from the Super 8 in Park Rapids\, MN\, with the first car out at 1131PM\, and end at the Great Northern Cafe\, ±6.5 hours and 193 miles later.Entry fee $75 per car\, plus $20 Weekend Membership for non-SCCA members \n\n\n\nA note on road conditions and vehicle choice—Forest roads can be rough and unpredictable\, but we have found these roads to be generally smooth and without obstructions. Significant hazards will be called out in the roadbook as Cautions. Low-clearance vehicles are not recommended. Since this rally is run in remote forests at night\, we do recommend equipping your vehicle with ample forward lighting and a recovery point on the front and rear of the vehicle. Underbody protection is never a bad idea\, but will not be necessary to complete this rally safely. \n\n\n\nLet’s be good stewards of the forest and the community. The rally will be run below the speed limit with street cars. Wait\, won’t that make it boring? Sorry\, “boring” isn’t in our vocabulary. Get ready for a really fun night. Head over to MotorsportReg and sign up your team today! \n\n\n\nClasses \n\n\n\nAll competitors are expected to use the Rabbit Rally interactive roadbook with GPS mileage. \n\n\n\nClasses are divided based on the age of the competing vehicle. Awards will be presented for the best-scoring vehicle in each category. \n\n\n\n\nClassic (Up to 1972 model year)\n\n\n\nMalaise (1973-1990 model year)\n\n\n\nModern (1991 and later model year)\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n Leave a ReplyCancel reply \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n\n This site uses Akismet to reduce spam. SUMMARY:MI: Top Sun Regional RoadRally
DESCRIPTION:This is a Detroit SCCA Regional Rally\, it does not count toward any Road Rally Championships. The classes run in these championships are different\, and this rally is meant to give you a start/improve your start in road rallying or simply have [safe] fun on roads driving. \n\n\n\n\nYou are a car enthusiast. You enjoy driving on unpaved roads. You like the challenge of arriving at each control point on time [or somewhere near on time]. You are a good Driver-Navigator team [or at least you think so]. You want to enjoy the scenery…if you can. Do you want to learn the whole new world of road rally or learn to achieve low scores? Well then\, come participate in this very 1st Top Sun Road Rally of approximately 4.5 hours\, about 110 miles Time-Speed-Distance [TSD] road rally.  \n\n\n\n\nRallymaster Chandra Kogantis has designed this rally for people with little or no road rally experience. Let this not stop you veterans from re-living your past on how you got your start in rallying and sharing your experience with others. This is a “Tour” type rally with no traps or tricks. You and a partner (Driver and Navigator) will be issued a set of Route Instructions that will take you through the country roads in southeast Michigan. There will be two Sections with an hour break between the Sections. Use the break time to discuss with other competitors and get rally veterans’ input. Trophies will be presented to the teams who do the best job of arriving at the checkpoints at the proper times.  \n\n\n\nWe’ll be using the Richta GPS checkpoint system to record your arrival time at each checkpoint.  Once you register\, you’ll receive information on downloading a custom app to your smartphone.
