DESCRIPTION:The December First Friday Niter\, sanctioned by SCCA Cal Club\, Santa Monica Chapter\, is being written by Rallymaster Joanna Weissen. As is her December tradition\, the rally will highlight Christmas lights and decorations.  \n\n\n\nWe are using the Richta GPS Competitor app for timing and scoring\, with timing to the tenth of a second. All checkpoints are listed in the Route Instructions\, with each leg scored from the most recent restart. The maximum penalty for this FFN is 3 minutes (180 seconds) per leg. Before you arrive at the start\, please download the Richta GPS Competitor app to your phone; it’s a free download for Android and Apple devices. There is no need for additional timing equipment\, your Official Time shows in the app! \n\n\n\nIs your usual rally partner not available for this FFN? SUMMARY:CA: San Diego "It's a Pie Run!" Road Rally
DESCRIPTION:The SCCA San Diego Region is back with It’s a Pie Run! Road Rally on Saturday\, December 3rd. The first car departs around 9A and should be finishing before Noon. A beginner’s video will be shared online the week before the event. The Driver’s meeting will be held on the morning of the event\, around 830A\, at the Freeport Road Park & Ride.  \n\n\n\nTeams will enjoy the twisty back roads of San Diego Country\, covering ±75 miles on fun-to-drive country roads\, following legal limits\, before finishing up at The Cooler\, Tap & Tasting Room near Julian\, CA. \n\n\n\nThe entry fee is $25 per car; one member must be an SCCA Member\, and SCCA Weekend Memberships are available during Registration for $15. These can be used as a credit toward a full SCCA Membership. \n\n\n\nYou will need paper and a pencil/pen\, a watch or clock with a second hand; a stopwatch and a clipboard will be helpful. The object of a navigational rally is to follow the rally course at the assigned (legal) speeds and arrive at each checkpoint precisely on time\, not early or late. Your score on each leg of the rally is based on how early or late you arrive at each checkpoint. All teams must have a smartphone or tablet with the Richta GPS Competitor app to enter. \n\n\n\nA valid Driver’s License and proof of current liability insurance are required. Your vehicle must meet basic safety standards (e.g.\, lights\, brakes\, windshield wipers\, and the horn must work). Each vehicle participating shall have at least two participants\, a Driver and a Navigator. Passengers are allowed\, but no more than can safely be carried in the car\, and they must sign a Speedwaiver and register for the event. \n\n\n\nResults will be posted online\, and trophies will be awarded to the top finishers in each competition class. Real-time results are available through the free Richta GPS Competitor Approad rally competitor app at the event.  \n\n\n\nRegistration is at Motorsportreg\, where you can find more information about the event.

SUMMARY:TX: Texas Region Sasha's Children's Book Run Rally
DESCRIPTION:Join the SCCA Texas Region as we close our 2022 Rally season\, supporting a good cause while honoring Sasha Lanz! The Texas Region of the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) cordially invites all fellow car enthusiasts to Sasha’s Children’s Book Run Rally\, a Trek rally benefiting the Scottish Rite for Children\, one of the nation’s leading pediatric orthopedic centers. All are welcome\, and no prior rally experience is necessary. \n\n\n\nA bit of history: Sasha Lanz was instrumental in building a successful RoadRally program in the SCCA Texas Region and leading it for many years. One of his favorite events was the Children’s Book Run. Entrants were asked to donate two children’s books\, gathered at check-in on Rally Day. Over the six years\, we have held the rally\, hundreds of books were donated to Sottish Rite!  We would like to keep this tradition alive and conduct a Children’s Book Run in his name every year.    \n\n\n\nThis year we plan to conduct the event again as a Trek\, a non-competitive driving event on scenic country roads. No questions\, puzzles\, tricks or traps\, or timed controls\, just a fun drive following a pre-determined route in Collin\, Grayson\, and Denton counties using a “convoy style” format – and a bit of trivia: we’ll pass through 7 towns named after women. We’ll provide basic route instructions as a backup only. Weather permitting\, we’ll stop at one or two places of interest for a group picture. \n\n\n\nEach person in the car is asked to contribute two NEW books for the patients at Scottish Rite. They need books for all ages – 5 through 16 – including Look-and-Find books\, board books\, chapter books\, Spanish-language books\, etc. We will collect the books at registration/check-in. \n\n\n\nWe encourage you to pre-register via this link at Motorsportreg\, where you will find important registration and event details. This helps us plan and have ample copies of the route instructions\, too! \n\n\n\nRegistration/check-in on-site will be open from 10:15 am to 10:45 am\, with a Rally Day Safety Briefing at 10:50 am. Teams leave the start after 11:00 am for the approximately three-hour drive covering 110 miles of countryside.

DESCRIPTION:Our mission\, on the Holiday Shopping Shuffle GTA Road Rally\, is to gather food for a holiday meal and be back at the time that the Rallymaster says we should be back. The catch is that each item must come from a different town. To make it a little easier\, the Rallymaster gives us tasks to complete along the way that can extend the time when we have to be back.  \n\n\n\nThis is a fun event and to make it even better\, the registration fee is waived if you bring a new\, unwrapped toy to donate. (Non-members will still need to pay the $10 weekend membership fee for insurance purposes.) Please remember to bring a little bit of money to purchase food items. All food items will be donated to a local food pantry after the rally.

DESCRIPTION:For the past 32 years\, SCCA Northern New Jersey Region has been hosting this annual event. Over $27\,500 in toys have been donated to the United States Marine Corp Reserve toy drive since the 1st Teddy Bear Rally in 1990. SCCA-NNJR’s Toys for Tots Roadrally is the longest continually run charity event conducted by SCCA. \n\n\n\nThis year’s event will be 55 miles and be a two-and-a-half-hour novice-orientated rally. It will utilize written instructions and photo clues to determine the trophy winners. \n\n\n\nThis is not a timed event. Your ability to follow the course correctly and identify the scenes depicted in the photo clues determines your score. \n\n\n\nNo hard-to-see or tricky questions to answer. \n\n\n\nThe entry fee is a new stuffed animal or unwrapped toy of $35.00 or greater. While stuffed animals will be accepted in 2022\, unwrapped toys are preferred.

DESCRIPTION:The Lone Star Holiday Tree Road Rally aims to enjoy the farm and ranch countryside during the leisurely 90-minute drive. This non-speed event is meant for auto enthusiasts as a family activity. Children are welcome at no extra charge. \n\n\n\nThe route will leave the Summer Moon Coffee\, EVO Entertainment\, and Gold Gyms parking lot and wind through Lockhart\, Rosanky\, Smithville\, and Giddings before stopping at the Lee County Christmas Tree Farm in Lincoln. Afterward\, the route continues to Paige on Texas 21\, the old King’s Highway\, for a late lunch at the Roadhouse. \n\n\n\nThis route is along US\, state\, and farm-to-market roads. Along the way\, you will be given points of local history. \n\n\n\nSCCA events are still asked to observe COVID precautions\, so we ask whoever attends the 10:45 Safety Briefing to wear a mask. If you experience symptoms of COVID immediately before the event\, your money will be refunded. DESCRIPTION:The Route of Some EVO Road Rally is a rally of approximately 125 “interesting” miles using paved and unpaved roads in the New York Southern Tier. SUMMARY:CA: SCCA Cal Club First Friday Niter Social RoadRally
DESCRIPTION:The SCCA Cal Club\, Santa Monica Sports Car Club Chapter\, continues their tradition of its First Friday Niter Series and begins the new year with Rallymaster Larry Scholnick. He describes his rally as “a trip around the rim of the Valley\, the San Fernando Valley.” It really does travel from place to place.  There are some traps on this rally\, but no more than one per leg (and not all legs have traps).  Trap values average about 30 seconds. FYI\, my favorite instruction on the rally is this one:  STRAIGHT(ish) at STOP. \n\n\n\nWe will be using the Richta GPS Competitor app for timing and scoring\, with timing in seconds. The max penalty this month is 120 seconds (2 minutes) per leg. All checkpoints are listed in the route instructions with a Restart after each checkpoint. This app is FREE and easy to use on any GPS-enabled smartphone. Go to the App Store or Google Play Store\, or https://richtarally.com/. There is no need for additional timing equipment or clocks – your Official Time shows in the app!   \n\n\n\nAlso\, if you want to see all the scores at the Finish\, download the free Richta Scoreboard app.  Finish will be at IHOP\, 5031 Kanan Road\, Agoura Hills (at the Kanan offramp of the 101). \n\n\n\nPlease register online at MotorSportReg. This helps us plan for number of instructions to print\, trophies\, and all that good stuff. If that doesn’t work for you\, in-person registration opens at 7:00 pm\, with the first car out at 8:01 pm; there is a beginner/Richta meeting at 7:40 pm.

DESCRIPTION:Tanned\, rested and ready… A northeast Ohio tradition since 1966 is back! Neohio Region\, SCCA invites you to enter the 2023 Ohio Winter Rally. The ~165 mile route will traverse portions of northeast Ohio’s Lake Erie “snowbelt” counties.\n\n\n\nCompetitors can expect an absolutely straightforward\, gimmick-free\, Time-Speed-Distance (TSD) road rally with emphasis on precise timing at well placed controls. DESCRIPTION:The PCA Metro Porsche Club of America proudly announces that the 2023 Road Rally season will start on Sunday\, February 5th\, with the 67th Snowflake Rally. Snowflake is the premier rally of Metro PCA. It is reported to be one of the\, if not the oldest\, continuously run events in PCA. \n\n\n\nHistorically Snowflake has been a TSD (time speed distance) rally. DESCRIPTION:The Texas Region of the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) invites you to join us for Jerry White’s annual Valentine’s Day-themed Sweetheart Ride Road Rally. It will be about a 90-mile drive on some of the scenic hard surfaced country roads in Johnson and Ellis Counties. All are welcome and no prior rally experience is necessary. \n\n\n\nThe challenge is to see how many correct puzzle solutions (many with a sweetheart theme) you can find based on signs and objects along the rally route. Puzzles can have from zero (0) to four (4) correct solutions. Think of it as a visual scavenger hunt. Google Forms will be used to display the route instructions and puzzles and to collect and score you and your sweetheart’s/navigator’s solutions. To use a Google Form you will need a browser on a smartphone\, tablet or laptop computer that can connect to the Internet via Wi-Fi or cellular data. In addition\, you will need a separate smartphone to run the Richta GPS Competitor app. It will use GPS signals to monitor your time and course and to tell you when to stop working on a puzzle and/or when to prepare to do the next route instruction.  \n\n\n\nYou should also participate in the February 11th Zoom Rally School (or watch the recording of it) and visit roadrally.page to help prepare for the rally.  \n\n\n\n\nAwards: First Timers\, Novices (every person in the vehicle has won 2 or less rally trophies)\, and General Class. DESCRIPTION:The Lone Star Region of the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) would like to invite you to join us for the Come and Take It Road Rally. This rally is to honor the 32 Texican volunteers who left Gonzales on 27 February 1836 for the Alamo during the Texas Revolution. Two days later the detachment entered the Alamo which was commanded by William Barrett Travis and Jame Bowie. Except of Travis’s boyhood friend\, James B. Bonham\, who arrived later that day\, these heroes were the last men to enter the Alamo before it was over whelmed by Mexican forces under President/General Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna on March 6 and all of the defenders were killed. This road rally will follow the approximate path of these doomed men from Gonzales to San Antonio (Bexar) but in reverse. \n\n\n\nOn the day of the event\, 25 February 2023\, participants will meet at Dellcrest Plaza in southeast San Antonio at 1:00 PM. After completing a safety briefing\, the rally will began the 90 minute rally at 2:01 PM. The route will visit Martinez\, New Berlin before skirting Seguin and entering Gonzales from the south. The destination is the Gonzales Food Market on Hero’s Square in Gonzales where the group will sample the award winning BBQ and discuss more local history before voting on awards. \n\n\n\nEarly Registration will be through MotorsportReg.com. The price is $25.00 per car regardless of the number of occupants. Children are welcomed but insurance requires that minor children\, under 18\, must have an SCCA Minor Waiver signed by both parents. Each car must have a Driver and a Navigator and each car must have a current inspection sticker and proof of insurance. DESCRIPTION:The Flamethrower Rally is a Regularity Rally run in MN part of the Driftless area. The course traverses the Valleys flowing into the Mississippi River\, taking advantage of the elevation changes and natural twisty roads in the valleys.  \n\n\n\nOnly two people are allowed in the car. If your navigator is a minor a special release is required.  \n\n\n\nNo special equipment is required. A smart phone with built in GPS will make it a lot easier and more fun. A free app is available from your favorite app store. The app not only provides the timing but also provides a digital roadbook similar to the one used at Dakar in 2021 and 2022. The app also does all calculations for you so that you always know if you are on time.  \n\n\n\nFor those without a smartphone or their own navigation systems we have SmartControl devices to do the timing. \n\n\n\nWe suggest you use the Rabbit Rally app to run this event. SUMMARY:CA: SCCA Cal Club First Friday Niter Social RoadRally
DESCRIPTION:On March 3\, 2023\, grab your favorite musketeer and join the Santa Monica Sports Car Club and guest Rallymaster Joe Batwinis for the 3rd First Friday Niter of the year. There will be three legs with three stages per leg on this Tour rally of the Sierra Pelona Ridge. There are no traps this month and plenty of free zones to enjoy some of the region’s best driving roads. Just ensure you’re on time outside those free zones because the checkpoints are unmarked – like the pre-app days.  \n\n\n\nOn that note\, this rally uses the Richta GPS Competitor app for timing and scoring\, with timing in seconds. This month’s maximum penalty is 60 seconds (1 minute) per checkpoint. The app is FREE and easy to use on any GPS-enabled smartphone. Go to the App Store or Google Play Store\, or https://richtarally.com/; there is no need for additional timing equipment or clocks as your Official Time shows in the app!  \n\n\n\nAlso\, if you want to see all the scores at the Finish\, download the FREE Richta Scoreboard app. \n\n\n\nPlease try to register online at msreg.com/FFN032023. This helps us figure out how many sets of instructions to print\, trophies\, etc. If that doesn’t work for you\, you can still register in person at the start. We start in the rear lot of the Bank of America. In-person registration opens at 7:00 pm\, with the first car out at 8:01 pm; there is a beginner/Richta meeting at 7:40 pm. \n\n\n\nThe rally will finish at IHOP\, 1225 Truman St.\, San Fernando\, CA 91340.
