DESCRIPTION:Uh\, oh! The April First Friday Niter is on April Fool’s Day! Come on out to the Santa Monica Sports Car Club\, a Chapter of the SCCA Cal Club\, and see what Rallymaster Larry Scholnick has planned for you. He said\, “The rally is short on miles but long on traps.”   \n\n\n\nTranslated\, ‘It is a short rally\, only about 40 miles; there are\, indeed\, numerous traps…BUT\, there is only one trap per leg\, they are mostly easy to figure out (here’s a hint for one of them – make sure you know what SOL means)\, and all trap values are less than a minute (some much less). What’s really amazing\, is that all of the traps are different! It’s an excellent chance to see how good your rally skills are! \n\n\n\nThe rally finishes in Camarillo at Topper’s Pizza Place\, 425 Arneill Rd\, (805) 385-4444 (call ahead on your way to the finish so your pizza will be ready when you get there). \n\n\n\nWe are using the Richta GPS Competitor app for timing and scoring\, with timing in seconds. The maximum penalty for this FFN is 3 minutes (150 seconds) per leg\, and all checkpoints are referenced in the route instructions. Before you arrive at the start\, please download the Richta Competitor app to your phone; it’s a free download for Android and Apple devices. There is no need for additional timing equipment\, your Official Time shows in the app! \n\n\n\nPlease register here on MotorSportReg at msreg.com/FFN042022\, it helps us plan for how many cars will be attending and makes registration quicker for you. SUMMARY:MA: Cape Cod Courageous Old Timers' Rally
DESCRIPTION:This “scavenger hunt” of Cape Cod is a low-pressure event. Teams will be supplied with a map and clues to locations all over the Cape. The object is to determine from the clues where these locations are on the map\, plan the shortest route to those locations and\, once at the location\, answer the question(s) and do so by driving the fewest miles possible. Each two-person team chooses its own pace. The distance traveled will be at least 120 miles. Above all\, SCCA New England Region hopes you will have FUN and maybe learn some things about the Cape. \n\n\n\nCheck-In/Registration: Between 7:30 am and 9:30 am. After completing check-in/registration and the odometer check\, you will receive your map and clues\, at which point you can begin the rally. \n\n\n\nEntry Fee: $50.00 per car for SCCA members and past Old Timers’ Rally participants if received by March 31\, 2022. (Note: NO entries on the day of the rally). $60.00 per car for non-SCCA members\, non-past participants\, and late entries. Please allow enough time for us to receive mail entries no later than March 31\, 2022\, as we will not have access to postal mail after that date. \n\n\n\nNote: Rally teams usually consist of one Driver and one Navigator. DESCRIPTION:Escape to Wisconsin\, sanctioned by the SCCA Land ‘o Lakes Region\, is our traditional first rally of the Summer Season. It runs mostly in Pierce County Wi. There are many fun roads and almost all paved roads are used to avoid any Spring mud. \n\n\n\nNo special equipment is needed other than a smartphone with built-in GPS. A free app (Rabbit Rally 2) is available from your favorite app store. The app not only provides the timing but also provides a digital roadbook similar to the one used at Dakar in 2021. The app does all calculations for you so that you always know if you are on time. We suggest you use the Rabbit Rally app to run this event.  \n\n\n\nFor those without a smartphone or wishing to use their own navigation systems\, we have SmartControl devices to do the timing. \n\n\n\nWe will be sending out printed material (such as the Roadbook) the week before the rally. DESCRIPTION:The Milwaukee Region of the Sports Car Club of America invites you to join us for the Spring Scamper car rally on Sunday\, April 3\, 2022\, in Madison\, Wisconsin. This 120-mile\, 5-hour Tour-type rally (no traps) will take you and your rally partner (driver and navigator) on a scenic adventure through the rural countryside roads south of Madison. You’ll have lunch in New Glarus (home to Spotted Cow) and then an afternoon break in Monroe\, WI. The rally course features new roads that haven’t been used on previous rallies.  \n\n\n\nWe’ll be using the Checkpoint – Richta GPS app for timing and scoring. This app will run on your smartphone (it’s required that you bring one) and will announce your score immediately at each checkpoint. You can use this instant feedback to learn how to improve your scores as the rally progresses. \n\n\n\nThis year’s Spring Scamper will be a charity event for the Dane County Humane Society. Your entry fee will help this wonderful organization continue to find ‘furever’ homes for hundreds of pets every year. Here’s a link to their website where you can see the list of animals that are currently available for adoption. \n\n\n\nRegistration for Spring Scamper is now open online at msreg.com/DCHS. SUMMARY:NH: NER Seacoast Scramble Road Rally
DESCRIPTION:The Seacoast Scramble Road Rally is a 150 +/- mile TSD Road Rally\, sanctioned by the SCCA New England Region\, that uses a combination of Written Route Instructions\, Tulip Diagrams\, and basic navigation skills. The route will begin in Farmington\, NH\, head into Maine\, and back to New Hampshire. The Seacoast Scramble uses a mixture of paved and unpaved roadways. \n\n\n\nThe Rally will start with a traditional check-in with Registration\, followed by a brief Drivers’ meeting. All Checkpoints\, Timing & Scoring will utilize the Checkpoint – Richta GPS App along the brisk rally route with short stops and a mid-rally fuel/lunch break. For most of the day\, the Driver and Co-driver are in a car and moving along the course. \n\n\n\nThis event is in honor of the Rallymasters’ father\, Paul Poor Sr\, who passed shortly before last year’s inaugural event. If he had been able to participate\, he would have left with a memory\, which would have become a story he would have told for years and years to come. DESCRIPTION:WHAT: \n\n\n\n An SCCA San Diego Region sanctioned Navigational (Time/Speed/Distance) RoadRally.\n\n\n\nWHEN:     \n\n\n\nSaturday\, April 9th\, departing in the morning and finishing before noon. A beginners meeting (an introduction for newcomers) will be held online the week before the event. The drivers meeting will be held online the night before the event at 6:00 PM\n\n\n\nWHERE: \n\n\n\nWe’ll start at La Costa Avenue Park & Ride\, Carlsbad\, CA 92011 before heading to the coast\, then into the twisty back roads of San Diego County and finishing at Tidewater Tavern in Solana Beach\n\n\n\nPRICE:     \n\n\n\nThe entry fee is $25 per car. The Driver must be an SCCA Member\, note that weekend memberships are available during registration for $15 (and these can be used as credit for a full SCCA membership)\n\n\n\nAWARDS:     \n\n\n\nResults will be posted online and trophies awarded to the top finishers in each class of competition. Real time results available through free road rally competitor app at event.\n\n\n\nLENGTH:     \n\n\n\nRally expected to cover 50 to 75 miles\, mostly on fun-to-drive country roads following legal limits. Each rally is designed to be completed in about 2 hours.\n\n\n\nBRING:     \n\n\n\nYou will need paper and pencil/pen\, a watch or clock with a second hand. A stopwatch and a clipboard will be helpful. A valid driver license and proof of current liability insurance are required. Your vehicle must meet basic safety standards (e.g.\, lights\, brakes\, windshield wipers and horn must work).\n\n\n\nParticipants: \n\n\n\nEach vehicle participating shall have at least two participants\, a Driver and Navigator. Passengers are allowed but no more than can safely be carried in the car and they must sign a Speedwaiver and register in the event.\n\n\n\nWHY:     \n\n\n\nThe object of a navigational rally is to follow the rally course at the assigned (legal) speeds and to arrive at each checkpoint on time; not early\, not late. Your score on each leg of the rally is based on how early or late you arrive at each checkpoint.

SUMMARY:MI: Twilight Tour RoadRally
DESCRIPTION:Spring has sprung! Time to roam the county roads for a little TSD road rallying! And Twilight Tour\, coming up on Saturday\, April 16 is just the rally to do that. Traversing ~150 miles of tasty back roads in Washtenaw and surrounding counties\, Twilight Tour is a straightforward time-speed-distance rally with no tricks or traps. Twilight Tour has been missed the past couple of seasons because of the pandemic\, and the SCCA Detroit Region is glad to have its return. It will be entertaining for the novice and experienced teams alike\, and Rallymaster Ken Wiedbusch always works hard to make sure his route instructions are clear and correct. \n\n\n\nEntry fees (per car): $45 for SCCA membersNon-members need to apply for a weekend membership. The cost is $15 per team if neither team member is an SCCA member.   \n\n\n\nAll entries must be done online. There will be no in-person ‘day of’ entries for this event. \n\n\n\nAwards will be presented to the first and second place teams in each of the following classes:E (Equipped) – unlimited equipment.L (Limited) – no limits on distance measuring equipment but only GPS odometer can be connected to computer.G (GPS Source) – all distance information must be derived from a GPS source. Jim Knepper is the Rallymaster for this GTA rally. It is not a precisely timed event\, and no calculations are necessary. Questions that can be answered along the route will provide scoring opportunities. You do not have to be a member to be eligible to earn points. A separate\, non-competitive\, question-free option is available for this drive.  \n\n\n\nPre-registration is strongly encouraged to ensure a place and to facilitate social distancing at on-site check-in. DESCRIPTION:Spend Sunday afternoon\, April 24th\, with the Southern Indiana Region\, navigating the Evansville\, Indiana\, road system. \n\n\n\nRegistered rally entrants will begin assembling at 12:00 PM in the Penn Station Subs\, in the strip mall between Walgreen’s and the Old National Bank at Green River and Lynch in Evansville. \n\n\n\nRoad rally ‘Novice’ instruction will begin at about 12:15 PM and run approximately 30 minutes. \n\n\n\nAt 12:45 PM\, we’ll begin our Drivers meeting in the restaurant. \n\n\n\nAt 1:15 PM\, we’ll head to the First Federal’s parking lot at 4920 Davis Lant to line up for the rally. The odometer check will begin at the First Federal’s lot exit. \n\n\n\nPre-event registration is required. SUMMARY:PA: Steel Haul National Course Rally
DESCRIPTION:The Steel Haul Course Road Rally is a 175-mile route on paved and unpaved roads to Armstrong County. It features Lettered Route Instructions (LRIs)\, Numbered Route Instructions (NRIs)\, and changing Main Road Determinants (MRDs). The Steel Haul Course Road Rally is the first of the two-day weekend\, with the Iron Run Course Rally\, on Sunday\, May 1st.  \n\n\n\nRallymaster Chuck Larouere will use Open Controls and DIYCs to test contestants’ thorough understanding of the General Instructions. The course is not fast; course following is the challenge. The scenery in the area is superb\, with many streams\, valleys\, and beautiful vistas. \n\n\n\nAn SCCA National Course Rally\, Steel Haul is sanctioned by the SCCA Steel Cities Region and co-hosted by the Blue Ridge Mountain Sports Car Club. SUMMARY:MI: Metamora Road Rally Scavenger Hunt
DESCRIPTION:The Metamora Lioness Lions will hold a Road Rally Scavenger Hunt on Saturday\, April 30. Start and finish are the Metamora Lions Hall\, 3790 N. Oak St. in Metamora. Arrive at 5:30 PM for a 6 PM start. The rally finish is at 10 p.m. \n\n\n\nThe road rally allows participants to test their GPS skills\, answer questions\, solve riddles\, and capture pictures/items along the designated route. The road rally is composed of a series of encrypted messages that need to be solved. Once understood\, each message will direct teams to drive to a specific location where they must find the answer to a question. Each correct answer is worth points. The most points win. \n\n\n\nDrinks and snacks will be provided at the hall from 9-11:30 p.m. Alcohol is BYOB at the after-party. Prizes will be awarded to first\, second and third-place finishers. \n\n\n\nThe maximum is four people per vehicle. Must be 21 to attend. \n\n\n\nAll proceeds will go to the Metamora community through partner charities Leader Dogs for the Blind and Bear Lake Camp. \n\n\n\nEarly registration is $30 per person.
