SUMMARY:MI: Keweenaw Winter Rallye
DESCRIPTION:The SCCA Lake Superior Region has joined up with the Arrowhead Sports Car Club to host the Keweenaw Winter Rally. \n\n\n\nRegistration: 11 am – 12:30 pm \n\n\n\nRally Route: Approx. 250 miles that will take you around Baraga\, Houghton\, and Keweenaw counties. All the roads are good county roads that should be snow-covered. Start and finish at Sheldon Grille\, 7th floor of Franklin Square Inn in Houghton. There will be a meal break at Sheldon Grille and a fuel stop in Houghton. The first car starts at 1 pm and should finish around 9:30 pm. \n\n\n\nEntry Fee: Early registration (before Thursday\, Feb 18th) is $40 per team for SCCA members. $45 per team for non-members. Registering at the event adds $5. The price includes lunch. To register early\, call Scott Carlborn 906-231-5842. \n\n\n\nRoute Book Format: The Route Book will be set up in easy-to-follow Performance Rally format. You will be given mileage\, tulip\, and instructions. Any novice should have no problem finding their way. TSD\, a form of RoadRally\, stands for Time\, Speed\, and Distance. In TSD\, any car will work as long as it is licensed and road worthy. TSDs are run on Public Roads at legal speeds; you are given instructions on where to go and the average speeds you must maintain. The winner is the one who can not only get to the right place but also get there at the right time. Accuracy\, not speed\, is the key. Come for a drive and share in an evening of Rally stories; they seem to get better each time they’re told. \n\n\n\n#comeroadrally

SUMMARY:PA: It’s About Time XXI Road Rally
DESCRIPTION:The Blue Ridge Mountain Sports Car Club presents It’s About Time XXI Road Rally on February 21\, 2016. \nRegistration:  Registration is at 12:00PM and the first car starts at 1:01 PM. Rally fee is $10. \nStart: McDonald’s on Route 22 in Delmont. \nThere will be a break at the Sheetz in Blairsville\, and the event will end at the Boulevard Restaurant across US22 from the start. \nDescription: A trap rally with changing main road rules and lettered route instructions (only 5). These will all be on stickers. The course is 65 miles\, and the first car should finish about 4:45 PM. \nTo receive a copy of the General Instruction set by email\, contact Chuck by Thursday Feb 18th at refdesignpit@comcast.net \nWhat beginners should bring with them: \nFor starters – there should be two of you in the car: a driver\, and a navigator (who isn’t inclined to get car-sick reading while moving\, or has an antidote for it). \nBring a mechanically sound car* that has a tenths -reading odometer (a resettable trip odometer can be a help)\, a clipboard\, a four function calculator\, several working pens\, a set of highlighters (for marking up the route instructions) and post-it notes. \nIf you can choose between a mechanical odometer that ‘rolls’ and a digital display\, the mechanical will enable you to interpolate to the hundredths. If you only have the digital tenths\, then you’ll have to do a lot more ‘guessing’ in between the numbers clicking over. We have folks who have gotten good at this with practice! \nWhile every team has their own procedure\, it’s useful to be able to highlight things like speed changes\, and free zones (remember – there is a tutorial to get you started!) so that ‘on the road’ it helps you remember them better.  The post-its are to stick on your dashboard to remind the driver of the assigned speeds and what the active course following priorities are. \nAlso – having a good map of the area that includes secondary (and tertiary roads) can be very helpful if you get lost and can’t regain the rally course. \n*While a cell phone and a AAA membership can’t hurt\, a lot of the time\, we’ll be traveling on roads that are well off the beaten track\, and you may not have much of a description of where you are!  ‘Well – we got here by turning left after ‘Snodgrass’\, then right at T\, and left by protection… ‘  While a GPS unit probably won’t help you very much while running the rally\, it may be very useful for telling AAA where you are if you break down.

SUMMARY:OR: Monte Shelton Northwest Classic Rally XXVIII
DESCRIPTION:The Alfa Romeo Owners of Oregon invites you to participate in the Northwest Classic Rally. Each year the Northwest Classic Rally visits a wonderful resort where we end Friday’s and Saturday’s rallying and touring with social activities including optional car washing\, general tire-kicking\, and banquet dinners\, and we conclude the event on Sunday morning with the Awards Brunch. Our 2016 destination is The Oregon Garden Resort. \n\n\n\nThere are four great ways: \n\n\n\nRALLY — The Northwest Classic Rally is a classic time-speed-distance road rally\, and competitors may register for either of two classes: Standard or Vintage. The allowed equipment for each class is defined in the 2015 General Instructions\, but basically\, the Standard Class allows the use of the car’s original speedometer and odometer\, clocks and watches\, slide rules\, and single-memory\, non-programmable calculators. The Vintage Class allows only the original speedometer and odometer\, plus clocks and watches. \n\n\n\nCars Eligible for the Rally A key element of this event is the enjoyment of older vehicles. The sights\, sounds\, and smells of classic or vintage vehicles form essential aspects of the event. Therefore\, cars participating in the competitive rally must be sports sedans\, sports cars\, and other special interest vehicles manufactured before 1981. (Exceptions for cars manufactured after 1980 may be made by the organizers\, in advance only\, for cars that are not substantially different from cars of the same marque and model made in 1980. If the car you wish to enter requires an exception\, contact the organizers by June 30 for a determination of acceptability.) \n\n\n\nTOUR — Competitive rallying is not for everyone\, but the Northwest Classic Rally is! If you would like to participate without the route-following challenges and the calculations necessary to remain “on time\,” we offer the option to register for a tour only. The tour is conducted in a follow-the-leader format\, generally following the rally route and sharing the same great roads\, great scenery\, and great food of the competitive rally. To register for the tour\, please check the Tour box in the YOUR CAR section of the Registration Form. \n\n\n\nCars Eligible for the Tour Any car may be entered in the Tour\, and we encourage you to get your favorite car of any vintage on the road in the Tour. This is also an excellent option for those still shopping for a rally-qualifying car\, or for those whose rally-qualifying car is under restoration or repair. \n\n\n\nVOLUNTEER — Another great way to participate is by volunteering.  We have a wide variety of requirements for volunteers ranging from Thursday set-up\, checkpoint workers\, and food and beverage coordinators. Please get in touch with the Volunteer Coordinator for a list of available positions. Volunteers pay no registration fee\, and they enjoy complimentary meals throughout their volunteer duties. \n\n\n\nSPONSOR — Yet another great way to participate is via sponsorship. We offer three levels of support ranging from $1\,000 to $300. In-kind sponsorships and product donations are also considered. Please get in touch with the Sponsor Coordinator for a Sponsorship Schedule and to discuss the possibilities. \n\n\n\nhttp://montesheltonnorthwestclassicrally.org/registration.html
