SUMMARY:MN: Land 'O Lakes Minnesota Valley Winter Rally
DESCRIPTION:The Minnesota Valley Winter Rally is a Regularity Rally run in the Minnesota Valley near Henderson and Le Sueur. The course traverses the Valleys along the Minnesota river taking advantage of the elevation changes and natural twisty roads in the valleys.  \n\n\n\nNo special equipment is needed other than a smartphone with built-in GPS. A free app is available from your favorite app store. The app not only provides the timing but also provides a digital roadbook similar to the one used at Dakar in 2021. The app also does all calculations for you so that you always know if you are on time.  \n\n\n\nFor those without a smartphone or their own navigation systems\, we have SmartControl devices to do the timing. \n\n\n\nWe suggest you use the Tabbit Rally app to run this event. It’s a Rally Computer app that does all the work for you to stay on time. \n\n\n\nMore information and registration at MotorsportReg!

SUMMARY:Texas Region Sasha's Children's Book Run Rally
DESCRIPTION:Let’s close out the Rally season supporting a good cause while honoring Sasha Lanz! The Texas Region of the Sports Car Club of America would like to cordially invite all fellow car enthusiasts to this Trek rally benefiting the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children. No prior rally experience is necessary. \n\n\n\nA bit of history: Sasha Lanz was instrumental in building a successful RoadRally program in the SCCA Texas Region and leading it for many years. Sadly\, Sasha passed away earlier this year. One of his favorite events was the Children’s Book Run. Entrants were asked to donate 2 children’s books\, which were gathered at check-in on Rally Day. Over the course of the five years that we held the rally\, hundreds of books were donate to Sottish Rite!  We would like to keep this tradition alive and conduct a Children’s Book Run in his name every year.    \n\n\n\nThis year we plan to conduct the event as a Trek. This is a rally format recently added to the SCCA RoadRally event mix. A Trek is a non-competitive driving event on scenic country roads. No questions\, puzzles\, tricks or traps\, or timed controls\, just a fun (and stress-free) drive following a pre-determined route in northern Denton County using a “convoy style” format. We’ll provide basic route instructions as a back-up only. Weather permitting\, we’ll stop in Pilot Point for a group picture in front of a historic site. \n\n\n\nEach person in the car is asked to contribute two books\, which must be NEW books due to the Hospital’s current COVID-19 guidelines. They need books for all ages — 5 through 16\, including Look-and-Find books\, board books\, chapter books\, Spanish-language books\, etc. We will collect the books at Registration/Check-in. \n\n\n\nRegistration/check-in: 1:00 pm to 1:30 pm on Rally Day and Teams depart at 2:00 PMLength: 65 miles (~2 hours)Finish: The Horny Toad Café & Bar\, 5812 I-35\, Denton\, TX 76207\, where we can gather for announcements\, a beverage or meal and to receive a rally mementoRoute: paved roads in northern Denton County\, TexasVehicles: Sports Cars\, Family Cars\, Classic Cars\, Antiques\, anything with 4 wheels that’s street legal is OK in this Rally. Note: Speed is not a factor. No requirement for at least two people in each car\, unless you separate from the group and rely on (back-up) route instructionsContact rally@texasscca.org if you have a minor child (<18) in the car\, as a form will need to be signedRally entry fee: $10.00 per vehicle (covers insurance and preparation and administration expenses)Rally Master: John Poulos

SUMMARY:Lone Star Region Christmas Tree Social Road Rally
DESCRIPTION:To initiate the 2021 Christmas season and to assist people to get out of the house after this past year\, the Lone Star Region of SCCA is sponsoring a Christmas Tree Social Road Rally to the Seiler Christmas Tree Farm south of Seguin. This rally will start from Bluebonnet Jeep on Interstate 35 East in New Braunfels and will wind through south Central Texas to the Tree Farm. \n\n\n\nAlong the way\, we will travel on state\, rural\, and country roads. These roads are paved but many do not have center stripes. This is a non-speed event but you will be given historical notes along the route and you will be asked to answer questions about the route at various points. At the Seiler Christmas Tree Farm\, you may buy the Christmas tree of your choice or just enjoy the scenery. Trees are four to nine feet in height and sell for $6.00 per foot. The Rally will then leave the tree farm and continue to Kirby’s Korner in Sequin to enjoy their famous burgers and malts and to discuss cars and the rally. \n\n\n\nThis is a non-speed social Road Rally whose route will be along paved roads although some have not been paved very recently. Registration between 1:00 and 2:00 PM will be at Bluebonnet Jeep so come early and look over their fine vehicles. After a safety briefing at 1:45\, cars will be released at intervals to proceed on their scenic journey. It should take between 90 minutes and two hours for this Road Rally as you learn about the history of Central Texas. Questions will be asked along the way but awards will not be based on questions or on a car’s finish position. \n\n\n\nThis Road Rally is meant to be a fun social outing and a learning event. Children are welcome but insurance requires that they have a waiver signed by both parents. Minors may be either navigators or drivers.  \n\n\n\nThe Social Road Rally fee for this event is $25.00 (the same for both SCCA members and non-SCCA members).  \n\n\n\nIf you would like additional information\, contact the Rally Organizer\, Ken McElroy\, at aggsip67@yahoo.com or at 512-695-9410.

SUMMARY:CA: First Friday Niter Social RoadRally
DESCRIPTION:The First Friday Niter Series has a long history with the Santa Monica Sports Car Club\, a Chapter of the SCCA California Sports Car Club. \n\n\n\nRegistration opens at 7 PM\, with a Beginner/Richta App meeting at 740 PM. The first car is out at 801 PM. The entry is $25\, with a $10 discount if either the Driver or Navigator is an SCCA Member. Should you run the FFNs regularly\, this becomes an excellent reason to join the SCCA and other discounts available from National. \n\n\n\nWe are still practicing COVID-19 restrictions – primarily wearing masks and social distancing. We continue to use the Richta Competitor GPS app for checkpoints\, so no manned checkpoints or control cards to pass in and out of the car; there’s a new version\, 1.20\, that should automatically update on your phone when you log in. Each checkpoint sign will be clearly shown in the instructions\, so no guesswork will be needed.

SUMMARY:NY: Route of All Evil Road Rally...All in Good Time and Deceptive Bends for 2021
DESCRIPTION:A short message from Rallymaster Extraordinaire Frank Beyer (aka Dr. Devio) about the 2021 Route of All Evil Weekend — this year\, there will be two Regional Route(s) of All Evil: All in Good Time on Saturday\, October 30th and Deceptive Bends on Sunday\, October 31st. You can run one or both! \n\n\n\nExpect a couple of things to be missing from my turn as a Rallymaster for the Finger Lakes Region: darkness and snow (probably). The fields are limited to 30 cars each. Early registration is now open to cars with at least one full-time SCCA member. \n\n\n\nBoth courses feature smooth paved and unpaved roads; no car-breakers. Saturday’s route is about 190 miles long and Sunday’s about 175 miles. Speeds will be appropriately brisk for the roads and conditions. The Route and General Instructions are straightforward\, but you’ll need to stay alert and be ready to react to the situations presented. I expect you’ll rack up a bunch of zeros but you’ll work for them. Timing will be done with the Competitor – Richta GPS Checkpoints\, using your smartphone in your car. \n\n\n\nCLASSES for the 2021 Route of All Evil: \n\n\n\n(E)quipped – no restriction on equipment. (E on Sunday will not qualify for some of the overall prizes to give L and S a chance in the spotlight). \n\n\n\n(L)imited – all mileage information must be manually entered in full (no constants) into calculating equipment \n\n\n\n(S)tock – all mileage information must be derived from the stock odometer in the stock location and must be manually entered into calculating equipment \n\n\n\nAWARDS will be in cash; perhaps other trinkets if the budget allows.                                                 \n\n\n\nSCHEDULE:                                             Saturday                          Sunday \n\n\n\nCheck in & pay\, connect with Richta   9:45 – 10:30                    7:15 – 7:45     \n\n\n\nFirst Car Out                                            11:01                                8:01 \n\n\n\nFirst Car In\, approximately                     6:00                                2:30 \n\n\n\nI plan to negotiate a lodging “special” but haven’t had a chance to set something up yet. This is a busy season in Oneonta until the colleges get back in session and the Baseball Hall of Fame ceremonies are completed in early September.  There are three hotels within walking distance and more close by. I will make info available as soon as possible to entrants. \n\n\n\nENTRY IS BY PRE-REGISTRATION ONLY\, LIMITED TO 30 CARS per rally. Entry opens on SEPT 7th TO CREWS WITH AT LEAST ONE full-time SCCA MEMBER on a first-come\, first-served basis. Entry OPENS OCTOBER 1st\, to crews with no SCCA members (they will become temporary members). Entry closes when we have 30 entries and/or October 26th. \n\n\n\nEntry fees are due at Check-In. Payment in EXACT CASH in an envelope with your car # on it\, please\, to limit contact. No checks\, credit cards\, or excuses. \n\n\n\nENTRY –                                                                One rally                 Both rallies \n\n\n\nAt least one full-time SCCA member in the car:        $50                          $95 \n\n\n\nTwo non-members*                                                    $65                          $110 \n\n\n\n*One crew member will become a Weekend Member of SCCA\, which costs $15; I encourage you to become full-time SCCA members to support rally programs. \n\n\n\nI’ll send the General Instructions by email. I’ll try to have a “competitors’ meeting” online a couple of weeks before the events where I’ll respond to any questions you have. \n\n\n\nFrank Beyer\, aka Dr Devio\, Rallymaster \n\n\n\nREGISTRATION STUFF (Motorsport.Reg didn’t work out) There’s no entry form; please send the following information to: rallydr@gmail.com \n\n\n\n>Indicate which Rally and/or rallies you intend to compete on \n\n\n\n>Indicate which Class and/or classes you intend to compete in on each rally \n\n\n\nDriver:  Name\, mailing address\, email address\, phone #\, SCCA member # & region \n\n\n\nNavigator: Name\, mailing address\, email address\, phone #\, SCCA member # & region \n\n\n\n>Vehicle: Year\, make and model\, State and License # \n\n\n\n-Let me know if you need a 2021 Minor Waiver Form. \n\n\n\n-Let me know if you have a preferred Car #.

SUMMARY:OH: Johnny Appleseed Road Rally
DESCRIPTION:Neohio Region\, SCCA will host the Johnny Appleseed Rally on Saturday\, October 23\, 2021. The ~150 mile route will wind through the hills of Ohio’s Tuscarawas\, Harrison and Belmont counties. Foliage should be at near peak coloration. \n\n\n\nThe Johnny Appleseed name is a legacy from a National rally that was hosted by Neohio Region\, SCCA in the 1950’s and 1960’s\, and resurrected in the early 1990’s. Competitors can expect an absolutely straightforward\, gimmick-free Time-Speed-Distance (TSD) road rally\, with emphasis on precise timing at well-placed controls. Columnar ‘tulip’-style route instructions will be used. \n\n\n\nThe rally will count toward both the SCCA Great Lakes Division (GLD) Rally Championship and the SCCA National Touring Rally (NTR) Championship (Divisional Rally). \n\n\n\nNOTE: All teams must enter here. NO ‘WALK-IN’ ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED ON THE DAY OF THE RALLY!\n\n\n\nSCCA members are urged to apply for an annual waiver so that they can bypass the signing of a paper waiver at each SCCA event. \n\n\n\nIf either team member is a minor\, please contact the organizers as soon as possible to obtain an SCCA minor waiver form. This form must be properly executed in advance of the rally by the minor’s parent(s) or guardian(s). \n\n\n\nThis rally will be timed with the Richta automated checkpoint system. Each team must carry a ‘smart’ phone or tablet (Android or iOS) running the current version of the Richta Competitor ‘app.’ Look for ‘Competitor Richta GPS Checkpoints’ app on Google Play Store or Apple App Store or click on the appropriate link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.richta.cpa2&hl=en_UShttps://apps.apple.com/us/app/competitor-richta-checkpoint/id1448298019 Prior to the rally\, checkpoint information (Latitude/Longitude coordinates and target arrival times) will be uploaded to the ‘cloud.’ All teams will receive a password that will allow them to download this information. Competitors will NOT be able to view this information in advance. Upon arrival at each checkpoint\, a team’s device will sound an alert. It will then display the team’s recorded arrival time\, its score for that checkpoint\, and its cumulative score. The device may also display leg ‘critique’ information provided by the rallymaster. \n\n\n\nSome helpful Richta user information can be found on the Detroit Region\, SCCA website: http://drscca.org/rally/using-the-richta-competitor-app/ \n\n\n\nTeams are welcome to register a second (backup) phone or tablet under a ‘phantom’ car number 100 greater than their assigned numbers (i.e. Car#1/101\, Car #2/102\, etc.). The second device will serve as an in-time ‘insurance policy’\, and will help organizers gain a better understanding of the relative timing behavior of various platforms. SUMMARY:TX: ONTO Fall National GTA RoadRally
DESCRIPTION:Join us this Fall to help us celebrate 70 years of the Texas Region SCCA with a fun-packed weekend of National-level RoadRally on North Texas country roads. \n\n\n\nHere’s what Rick Beattie wrote about the 2019 ONTO Fall National GTA Rally: “The General Instructions described many things like numbered route instruction\, main road determinants\, and course following rules that made it more of an untimed National Course Rally.” Winner Bruce Gezon described it as “really hard\, but nevertheless the best Course Rally he had run that year.” Jerry White described the traps as “just plain fun.” Rallymaster Witt will send you the Generals\, RI’s\, and detailed descriptions of the traps and loops from the 2019 GTA if you email her at lizwitt@yahoo.com. \n\n\n\nWe’re going to do it again with a course-following GTA and a Course Rally. On some of the best rally roads around\, mainly in Collin County. And Texas is usually beautiful in October. \n\n\n\nONTO Fall National Course Rally: Saturday will be a 180-mile course-following rally through the countryside on rural Texas’ beautiful\, paved roads. And with a grand tour of the town of Farmersville\, home of Audie Murphy. Designed for the experienced rallyist\, it will have variable Main Road Rule priorities\, and both numbered and lettered Route Instructions. Additionally\, some of the numbered instructions will have a choice of actions. Speeds will be moderate with the generous use of Free Zones. The Richta app will time you. \n\n\n\nONTO Fall National GTA Rally: The Saturday GTA Rally is also course-following and has many of the same traps as the Course Rally. But it has no lettered instructions\, so many of the traps are implemented differently. You will be scored by your answers to questions designed to determine if you followed the correct course and/or applied the rules correctly. \n\n\n\nPre-registration on MSReg.com is recommended – registration opens July 1st. Click here for registration. You can enter either the Course or the GTA event on Saturday. If you’re running a Saturday event and the Sunday event\, you must register for each separately. \n\n\n\nIn light of the current COVID-19 situation\, every attempt will be made to minimize the risks of exposure to the virus. New processes and procedures have been developed and will be put into place to support this objective. Ultimately\, it is your responsibility to assess the risk to you and to make the decision on whether or not to participate. \n\n\n\nTentative schedule: \n\n\n\nFriday\, October 22nd\, 2021  \n\n\n\n5:00 PM to 8:00 PM                           Check-in at the headquarters hotel  \n\n\n\nSaturday\, October 23rd\, 2021: ONTO Fall National Course and GTA Rallies  \n\n\n\n7:30 AM                                                     Late registration by prior appointment  \n\n\n\n7:46 AM                                                     Car #1 receives Route Instructions  \n\n\n\n8:31 AM                                                     Car #1 starts rally at headquarters hotel  \n\n\n\n~ 5:30 PM                                                  Car #1 finishes rally

SUMMARY:NC: Cedar Mountain Rotary Fundraiser Road Rally
DESCRIPTION:The Cedar Mountain Rotary is planning their Inaugural Road Rally for Saturday\, Oct. 9\, as part of a fundraiser for Rise & Shine.  \n\n\n\nThe objective of the rally is for a team of two\, a driver and a navigator\, to use a set of clues to reach designated points of interest in Transylvania County and Pickens County. The date was selected to take advantage of the scenic beauty of the area in the fall season. Those taking part will be asked to answer questions in the clues and take pictures of the designated points to score “points.” It is much like a scavenger hunt but on wheels.  \n\n\n\nThe starting and ending points will be at Oskar Blues Brewery\, with rally teams being sent out in two directions over the same course. We will award the teams with the most points prizes at the end. We will be using a “Rotary” themed bag to hold a lunch for the team and any handouts from sponsors and the charitable recipient\, Rise & Shine. \n\n\n\nFor more information\, contact Cathy or Len Haupert at (607) 280-0889 or (828) 885-7582 or via email at Cathy.haupert@ gmail.com.

SUMMARY:New Jersey National RoadRally Weekend
DESCRIPTION:In the fall of 2020\, with the popularity of the Richta GPS Timing System\, the two New Jersey Regions agreed to host the first New Jersey National RoadRally Weekend on October 9/10 of 2021. South New Jersey Region will be presenting a straightforward National Tour Rally starting near Atlantic City and traveling North By Northwest into the New Jersey Highlands. The Northern New Jersey Region’s New Jersey Monte\, a National Course Rally – Map Rally\, will begin from that locale.  \n\n\n\nOrson Wells Martians landed in Grover Mills – the North by Northwest Rally will take you by this landmark!\n\n\n\nOctober 9 – North by Northwest is an all-day 180+ mile straight forward Time-Speed-Distance Rally. Hosted by SJR is the first event of a New Jersey National Weekend. The route will start near Atlantic City and travel north by northwest ending in Clinton\, NJ.  \n\n\n\nThe route will have over 120 timed control locations. It will include some sand trails in the New Jersey Pine Barrens\, home of the New Jersey Devil\, pass by Grover Mills where Martians first landed in Orson Welles’ War of the Worlds 1938 radio drama\, and traverse the rolling county side of central New Jersey with its many one-lane bridges and scenic farmlands.  \n\n\n\nAll control locations will be listed in the route instructions. Including the control locations in the route instructions bring a special challenge and an increased focus to stay “on-time all the time” to get good scores on the event. Rallymaster Jim Wakemen and Event Chair Clyde Heckler are well known on the SCCA National Series circuit and have many National Championships to their names. \n\n\n\nOctober 10 – New Jersey Monte is an all-day 160+ mile Time-Speed-Distance Map Rally. This second event of the New Jersey National Weekend will start in Clinton\, NJ\, and end in Long Valley\, NJ. The route will be based on the ‘historic’ New Jersey ‘Esso’ map. All Timing Controls will be listed on the map with associated Car Zero ‘Key Time’ and Official Mileage. All you have to do is stay on course by following the route highlighted on the map and get to each of the Timed Controls ‘on time.’ How hard can it be? \n\n\n\nSet your own speeds between each control\, just as long are you arrive ‘on time’ at each of the twenty timed checkpoints\, but remember to stay on course per the route listed on the map to avoid additional penalties associated with hidden route controls. The New Jersey Monte is in honor of NNJR’s member Dave Panas who was one of the original organizers of the NJ Monte in the early 60s. The route will travel the rural roads of the New Jersey Highlands and skirt Blairstown\, home of Jason Voorhees\, the main character of the 1980 cult classic horror film Friday the 13th. The New Jersey Monte was last listed on the SCCA National Course Rally schedule in March of 1992 and marks NNJR’s return to the National Rally Series after an almost 30 years absence. Rallymaster Peter Schneider and Event Chair Bob Shore are best known as SCCA Regional organizers; last year\, 20% of all individuals attending an SCCA RoadRally in the United States attended one of their events. \n\n\n\nFor more information and to register\, click here!
