SUMMARY:WI: Milwaukee Region Spring Scamper RoadRally
DESCRIPTION:The Milwaukee Region of the Sports Car Club of America invites you to join us for the Spring Scamper car rally on Sunday\, April 3\, 2022\, in Madison\, Wisconsin. This 120-mile\, 5-hour Tour-type rally (no traps) will take you and your rally partner (driver and navigator) on a scenic adventure through the rural countryside roads south of Madison. You’ll have lunch in New Glarus (home to Spotted Cow) and then an afternoon break in Monroe\, WI. You can use this instant feedback to learn how to improve your scores as the rally progresses. \n\n\n\nThis year’s Spring Scamper will be a charity event for the Dane County Humane Society. Here’s a link to their website where you can see the list of animals that are currently available for adoption. \n\n\n\nRegistration for Spring Scamper is now open online at msreg.com/DCHS. You do not need to be a member of SCCA to run. Any street-legal car is eligible. The cost is $20/per person ($40/per car). All you need is a smartphone and a rally partner. SUMMARY:Cal Club First Friday Niter Social Roadrally
DESCRIPTION:Uh\, oh! The April First Friday Niter is on April Fool’s Day! Come on out to the Santa Monica Sports Car Club\, a Chapter of the SCCA Cal Club\, and see what Rallymaster Larry Scholnick has planned for you. He said\, “The rally is short on miles but long on traps.”   \n\n\n\nTranslated\, ‘It is a short rally\, only about 40 miles; there are\, indeed\, numerous traps…BUT\, there is only one trap per leg\, they are mostly easy to figure out (here’s a hint for one of them – make sure you know what SOL means)\, and all trap values are less than a minute (some much less). What’s really amazing\, is that all of the traps are different! It’s an excellent chance to see how good your rally skills are! \n\n\n\nThe rally finishes in Camarillo at Topper’s Pizza Place\, 425 Arneill Rd\, (805) 385-4444 (call ahead on your way to the finish so your pizza will be ready when you get there). \n\n\n\nWe are using the Richta GPS Competitor app for timing and scoring\, with timing in seconds. The maximum penalty for this FFN is 3 minutes (150 seconds) per leg\, and all checkpoints are referenced in the route instructions. Before you arrive at the start\, please download the Richta Competitor app to your phone; it’s a free download for Android and Apple devices. There is no need for additional timing equipment\, your Official Time shows in the app! \n\n\n\nPlease register here on MotorSportReg at msreg.com/FFN042022\, it helps us plan for how many cars will be attending and makes registration quicker for you. If that doesn’t work for you\, you can still register in person at the start. We start at the Bank of America rear lot\, 10300 Sepulveda Blvd (Sepulveda and Devonshire) in Mission Hills. In-person registration opens at 7:00 pm\, with the first car out at 8:01 pm; there is a beginner/Richta meeting at 7:40 pm.

SUMMARY:TX: Back-to-Basics RoadRally Series #2 - Signs and Landmarks
DESCRIPTION:In 2022\, in addition to rallies that we have put on regularly in recent years (e.g.\, Sweetheart Ride\, Tick-Tock\, DFW Map\, Children’s Book Run)\, the Texas Region of the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) will be conducting a series of road rallies and schools. \n\n\n\nThe Region is designing these to introduce rallying to newcomers and refresh and reinforce key concepts for our more experienced rallyists. This “Back-to-Basics” series will consist of four events of progressive challenge levels staged over several months. These will be SCCA GTA (Games\, Tours\, Adventures) Social Rallies\, about 45-60 miles and 2 ½ – 3 hours long. We will score them and present awards to the most successful. The objective is to conduct events in accordance with the SCCA RoadRally Rules\, starting with simple rules and instructions. Then each succeeding rally will introduce more advanced topics. \n\n\n\nThere will be a virtual Road Rally School\, six days before each rally\, where we will present the rules and instructions for that rally\, demonstrate “how-to\,” and go through applicable examples. Liz Witt\, Rallymaster for the four B2B rallies\, will be your lead instructor. \n\n\n\nThe tentative schedule for the Back-to-Basics (B2B) events is as follows: \n\n\n\nB2B #1 – Focus on General Instructions\, Route Instructions\, Questions• Rally School (via Zoom session): January 9th• Rally: January 15th – Did You SEE That? \n\n\n\nB2B #2 – Focus on Signs and Landmarks• Rally School (via Zoom session): March 13th• Rally: March 19th \n\n\n\nB2B#3 – Focus on Main Road Concepts• Rally School (via Zoom session): May 1st• Rally: May 7th \n\n\n\nB2B#4 – Focus on Roads and Intersections• Rally School (via Zoom session): May 29th• Rally: June 4th \n\n\n\nThe Rally Schools will be conducted via Zoom and recorded for later on-demand viewing. After each rally\, a packet of materials (General Instructions\, Route Instructions\, Question and Answer Sheet\, Explanation/Critique Sheets) will be made available. This way\, if you miss any of the rallies or schools or only become aware of our program part of the way into the year\, you can watch the recording(s) and run the rally(ies) at your convenience (not scored) to get up to speed on covered skills and concepts. \n\n\n\nThe Back-to-Basics Series will help prepare you for a “course-following” (aka\, trap) rally. We plan to conduct a National or Divisional GTA rally in the Fall\, a perfect opportunity for putting what you learned into practice! \n\n\n\nHead over to Motorsportreg for more information and register today!

SUMMARY:CA: Ron Dunlop Memorial Road Rally
DESCRIPTION:Please join us for a fun and exciting car road rally celebrating the life of Ron Dunlop\, a great guy and a tremendous rally organizer and competitor\, on Saturday\, March 19\, 2022. The Ron Dunlop Memorial Rally\, sponsored by the Into the Night Rally Team\, is sanctioned as an SCCA Divisional Tour Rally and will explore the amazing Wine Country backroads around Santa Barbara and Santa Maria. \n\n\n\nRallymaster Paul McGaffey’s Route Instructions will use a simple Monte Carlo format\, meaning you get turn-by-turn directions\, AND you will get your target time at each Checkpoint. All Timed Checkpoints are listed in the Route Instructions\, and all are referenced by prominent signs on the course. The rally is a little over 200 miles long\, and you will have seven hours of driving nirvana with many breaks for gas\, food\, and rest stops. \n\n\n\nThe object of this event is to enjoy driving sweeping\, beautiful\, challenging back roads at legal speeds while following simple directions to pass a series of checkpoints at just the right time.  \n\n\n\nThere is no need for advanced math\, no riddles\, compasses\, maps\, or gimmicks\, just glorious roads to drive with a focus on precision and accuracy. Rallying is a team sport; the Driver and Navigator must work together to get it right. \n\n\n\nThere are no average speeds. Just run at the posted speed limits (rally is timed at least two mph BELOW those limits and has pauses where needed). If you reach a timed Checkpoint early\, you can pull over\, get out of traffic lanes\, and either creep in or wait for your target time to pass by the Checkpoint. \n\n\n\nWe will be using the Richta GPS Competitor app for timing and scoring. This app is FREE and easy to use on any GPS-enabled smartphone or appropriate tablet. Go to the App Store\, Google Play Store\, or direct to https://richtarally.com/ and download it. There is no need for additional timing equipment; your Official Time shows in the app! \n\n\n\nWe’ve designed it to be EV-friendly. There are five stations and a Tesla Dealership near the Start in Camarillo\, five near the lunch break in Santa Maria\, two fast-charging stations\, and a Tesla Supercharger in the parking lot at the Finish in Goleta.  \n\n\n\nPlease register online here at MotorsportsReg. The registration fee is $60 per car\, with a $15 discount for SCCA members. You may still register in person at the Start. (Sorry\, but we will not be able to accept credit cards at Registration. Please use the MSR website to pay by credit card.) Both Driver and Navigator are required to complete the Waiver. To save time for both you and us at the Start\, we ask you to please enter your cell phone number where indicated near the bottom of the registration page\, and please check the ‘yes’ button just below that. Speedwaiver will send you a text\, and you follow their directions to use your phone to complete the Waiver. \n\n\n\nWe start at the Mcdonald’s rear lot. In-person Registration opens at 9:00 am; there is a beginner/Richta GPS meeting at 9:40 am\, and the first car out at 10:01 am. Yet we encourage you to Pre-Register so that we can have ample copies of the Route Instructions! \n\n\n\nThe finish will be at Camino Real Marketplace (near Starbucks)\, 7030 Market Place Dr\, Goleta\, CA 93117. The first car should be arriving around 5 pm. \n\n\n\nTrophies will be awarded to the top teams in Classes E (Equipped)\, L (Limited equipment)\, S (Stock)\, G (GPS-driven rally computers)\, and N (Novice – 3 or fewer previous rallies). \n\n\n\nMore rally information can be found at www.itnrally.org and on our ITN Facebook page. A free app is available from your favorite app store. The app not only provides the timing but also provides a digital roadbook similar to the one used at Dakar in 2021 and 2022. SUMMARY:TX: Sweetheart Ride RoadRally
DESCRIPTION:The Texas Region of the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) invites you to join us at Logan’s Roadhouse for Jerry White’s annual Valentine’s Day-themed road rally. It will be about a 90-mile drive on some of the scenic hard surfaced country roads in the Brazos River Valley in Parker\, Hood\, and Palo Pinto Counties. No prior rally experience or SCCA membership is necessary. \n\n\n\nThe challenge is to see how many correct puzzle solutions (many with a sweetheart theme) you can find based on signs and objects along the rally route. Puzzles can have from zero (0) to four (4) correct solutions. One (1) penalty point is awarded for each findable puzzle solution you miss marking as found and one (1) is awarded for each solution you mark as found when it didn’t exist or in some way was not a correct solution. Low score wins. There will never be more than one puzzle active at a time. Think of it as a visual scavenger hunt. \n\n\n\nGoogle Forms will be used to display the route instructions and puzzles and to collect and score you and your sweetheart’s/navigator’s solutions. To use a Google Form\, you will need a browser on a smartphone\, tablet\, or laptop computer to connect to the Internet via Wi-Fi or cellular data.  \n\n\n\nIn addition\, you will need a separate smartphone to run the Richta GPS Competitor app. It will use GPS signals and a minor amount of cellular data to monitor your time and course and tell you when to stop working on a puzzle and/or prepare to do the next route instruction. You should also participate in the February 12th Zoom Rally School (or watch its recording) and visit roadrally.page to help prepare for the rally. \n\n\n\nAwards: First Timers\, Novices (every person in the vehicle has won 2 or fewer rally trophies)\, and General Class.Optional Master Class for those who want bragging rights\, yet don’t want more trophies.Start and finish at: Logan’s RoadhouseRegistration/Check-In: 11:00am – noon.Mandatory Safety Briefing: 12:10pm.Car 1 receives the code that will allow them to submit their Google Forms: 12:21pm (Car 2\, 12:22pm\, etc.).There will be a rest break approximately midway at a gas station along the course. The first car should finish at Logan’s Roadhouse around 5:00 pm; results will be announced\, and trophies will be awarded around 6:00pm.Click “Submit” on completed Google Forms for instant feedback on what you missed.Vehicles: Sports cars\, family sedans\, pickup trucks\, SUV’s and anything else with four wheels that’s street legal (bring something that you will be comfortable in and will have fun driving on back roads and byways\, many of which are oil & chip). Speed is not a factor.Optional: Get photographed making a splash through a ford (if the weather cooperates and we can find a photographer). At least two people (a driver and a navigator) are required in each car; contact rally@texasscca.org if you have a minor child (<18) in the vehicle\, as a form will need to be signed.SCCA membership requirements: at least one SCCA Member required in each car\, either regular/annual Member or Weekend Member; if not currently a Member\, you will be able to become a Weekend Member during online pre-registrationRally entry fee: regular SCCA Members $25; Weekend Members $35 (includes membership fee). You must preregister on MotorsportReg.com.About two weeks before the rally the General Instructions will be posted on roadrally.page . The General Instructions will be emailed to those who preregister by then about a week before the event.Contact the Rallymaster if you have any questions.\n\n\n\nCome on out and discover what game/tour/adventure (GTA) rallying is all about! \n\n\n\nAll entrants must preregister – no same-day registration allowed – and you are advised to preregister as early as possible. Notice that registration closes two days before the rally rather than the evening before the event. To preregister\, page down and click on “Continue.” The Rally Committee reserves the right to limit entries. \n\n\n\nThe Sweetheart Ride RoadRally is the second event in the 2022 Texas Region SCCA RoadRally Series. The rally is sanctioned as a Regional Rally by the SCCA under Sanction Number 22-RRRG-57546; it qualifies for Regional Championship points but does not qualify for the National SCCA RoadRally Championship.

SUMMARY:LA: Red River Region Gimmick Road Rally
DESCRIPTION:Do you want to do something fun with your car that doesn’t involve speed and won’t cost you much money? For the first time in over a decade\, the Red River Region is holding a road rally. Mark your calendars for Sunday\, February 20th. We’ll gather at the old VF Outlets Mall in Arcadia at 9:00 am. \n\n\n\nAs long as it’s registered\, licensed\, and road-worthy\, any vehicle may be used. Each team must have at least a Driver and a Navigator. One of them must be an SCCA member — either an Annual Member or a Weekend Member\, and everyone else in the vehicle needs to be at least a Trial Member. You’ll need to show your Driver’s license and proof of insurance at Registration. You’ll also need something to write with and a clipboard or some other solid object to use as a ‘desk.’ \n\n\n\nA rally is a non-speed event\, driven on regular roads and obeying all traffic laws. The object is to see how close you can follow directions and how well you can answer questions along the way. You’ll be assigned a number at Registration\, and your starting mileage will be recorded. \n\n\n\nFollowing a short Drivers’ meeting\, at which you’ll be given the route directions\, you’ll be sent out at two-minute intervals. Your starting time will be recorded. When you return\, your arrival time and ending mileage will be recorded. You’ll also turn in your answer sheet. This will be a very simple ‘gimmick’ rally designed to introduce you to rallying and see if there’s enough interest and participation to re-start the active rally program that we used to have. It’s a great way to have some fun with your car when we’re not autocrossing.Entry fees: $10 for SCCA Members and $20 for Weekend Members

SUMMARY:VT: Winter Challenge RoadRally
DESCRIPTION:The long-awaited Winter Challenge Road Rally\, sanctioned by the SCCA New England Region\, met its entry cap on February 2nd! \n\n\n\nRallymaster John Buffum will be providing updates for this year’s event: Generals\, Richta GPS Training\, and practice rallies for a map rally and route instructions on the winterchallengerally.com website. \n\n\n\nThe Winter Challenge Rally weekend\, which Vermont SportsCar presents\, will consist of a single New England Regional\, SCCA rally running from 4 pm Saturday until 2 am Sunday with two breaks. Although no car-breaking roads will be used\, the majority of the roads chosen are rural\, unpaved roads\, which will undoubtedly be snow and ice-covered. The rally will go no further east than Woodsville\, N.H.; no further north than Calais\, VT; no further west than Randolph\, VT; and no further south than Sharon\, VT. This year the rally again will have straightforward course instructions\, with a few bits to keep your mind occupied early in the event (about the same as in 2017); you do need to pay attention and drive ‘briskly.’ \n\n\n\nFor 2022\, the classes: \n\n\n\n\nClass A    Calculating equipment may receive a direct input from a mileage-measuring device.  Typical calculating devices in this Class include: Alfa\, Chronar\, Timewise\, and Zeron rally computers.\n\n\n\nClass L    If distance information is acquired only from a mechanical odometer\, it must be manually fed into any calculation device; the distance measuring device must be separate from the calculation device.  (e.g. Curta calculators\, tables\, laptop computer\, electronic APP\, programmable and nonprogrammable electronic calculators.   If the distance information is derived solely from GPS signals\, then any electronic APP may be used.\n\n\n\nClass S   Distance information must be visually acquired from the vehicle’s stock\, non-adjustable odometer in the stock location.

SUMMARY:TX: Back-to-Basics RoadRally Series #1 - Generals\, RI's and Questions

For those who can’t join the live session\, we will post a YouTube video recording of the session and will share information on how to access it after the Rally School. \n\n\n\nThere is no charge for this event. You must preregister on MotorsportReg.com. Registration is per individual\, not per team/car. To keep track of who attended and any follow-ups\, please register each individual attendee separately\, if possible. \n\n\n\nNote: if you plan to register for the Did You SEE That? Rally (see above)\, we strongly urge you to do so early and in time to also attend this Rally School and/or view the recorded session.  \n\n\n\nThis Back-to-Basics RoadRally School is the first of four that will take place\, each of them taking place six days before a Back-to-Basics RoadRally: January 9th\, March 13th\, May 1st\, and May 29th. See MotorsportReg link above for more information!
