DESCRIPTION:Soon\, the Finger Lakes Region’s 2024 Winter Rally Series will kick-off. The December Dash 2023 Road Rally is a novice rally\, training rally\, and tune-up rally all in one. Come learn to do time-speed-distance rallies! This is a straightforward TSD rally. Instructions will be very verbose to help the first-time rallyist. Roads are generally paved but may go onto smooth\, wide dirt roads. Yes! you can bring your lowered Miata. \n\n\n\nEntry fees are $25/car. There is a 30-car limit\, so early registration is recommended. Classes are Equipped and Novice. Experienced means you’ve rallied a few times before. \n\n\n\nAll-season tires are fine\, yet a tow rope/strap\, 90 minutes of flares or one DOT triangle\, are required to compete. Please make sure your head/tail lights and horn work on your car; there will be a light tech inspection for all cars. SUMMARY:NJ: Ciocca Corvette Fall 2023 RoadRally
DESCRIPTION:The South Jersey Region of the Sports Car Club of America cordially invites you to join our fellow car enthusiasts for our Ciocca Corvette Fall Road Rally. The rally starts at Ciocca Corvette in Atlantic City NJ on October 28\, 2023 with check in time of 9:00 am. The rally will be about a 4-hour 100-mile drive on all paved back roads through sparsely populated southern NJ\, finishing at the Finish Line Pub at New Jersey Motorsports Park. You and your teammate\, as Driver and Navigator\, will follow written route instructions at assigned average speeds. Average speeds are always at or below the speed limit for the road. You will have your time of arrival at each checkpoint recorded. The goal is to arrive at each checkpoint precisely on time. Penalty points are given equally for arriving to early (to fast) or to late (to slow). Awards will be presented in eligible classes at the finish about 3pm. \n\n\n\nNo prior rally experience is necessary. This rally is designed for people who are new to the sport of road rallying. There are no tricky instructions. There is a 50 car/small truck limit to the number of entries. \n\n\n\nThe rally will use a smart phone app for timing the contestants’ arrival at the checkpoints. The app uses GPS information from your phone to record your arrival time and will\, within a tenth of a seconds\, tell you how early or late you arrived. The app will also display your total score as you progress through the checkpoints. All contestants must have a cell phone with them for the rally. Cell phone signal strength is not an issue since you will download all the data needed to your phone prior to the rally. The app is free to download. Go to the Apple App Store or Google Play Store and search Richta. Download the Richta competitor app. \n\n\n\nYou only need the following things: \n\n\n\nAny 4 wheeled street legal and insured car or small truck. \n\n\n\nA team of two people consisting of a Driver and Navigator. \n\n\n\nDriver must possess a current Driver’s license.  \n\n\n\nPay the entry fee of $30 per car ($15.00 per person). All cars with an SCCA member on the team will only pay $30 per car to enter. Cars with no SCCA members must pay an additional $15 for an SCCA Weekend Membership for the weekend and be covered by our club insurance. \n\n\n\nThe rally starts at Ciocca Corvette in Atlantic City\, NJ. Day of event check in begins at 9:00 am\, Contestants meeting at 10 am\, Rally begins at 10:30 am. \n\n\n\nThe rally finishes at the Finish Line Pub (NJMP\, 8000 Dividing Creek Rd\, Millville\, NJ 08332). First car should finish about 2:00pm. Trophy presentation will be about 3:00. \n\n\n\nSelect a Class as described below: Newbies should enter Stock \n\n\n\nStock: No limit on road rally calculating equipment but your mileage must be measured by the vehicle’s stock odometer located in its’ stock position. \n\n\n\nOpen: No limit on your road rally equipment\, trophy eligible at 5 cars entering this class. \n\n\n\nFor more information contact Rallymaster Jim Wakemen. \n\n\n\nEvent requirements\n\n\n\nThe RoadRally will be conducted in full compliance with the Abridged Road Rally Rules (RRRs) as supplemented by the event’s General Instructions (GIs). \n\n\n\nEach rally team will be required to bring a smartphone that is equipped with the Richta Autonomous GPS Checkpoint App. This app will monitor your car’s position during the rally and will record the precise time at which you arrive at each Timing Control on the rally. Once you have arrived at a Timing Control\, the app will calculate your score for that leg and display it to you. \n\n\n\nEach rally team will be required to bring a completed emergency contact\, vehicle inspection\, and insurance form to registration when you perform on-site registration.

SUMMARY:PA: USRRC 50th Anniversary Little Appalachian Rally
DESCRIPTION:Clyde Heckler\, Rallymaster\, is celebrating an anniversary during the 2023 United States Road Rally Challenge (USRRC) on Friday\, October 20th. This year’s Little Appalachian National Course Rally is the 50th Anniversary year of his first rally for the SCCA Philadelphia Region in 1973. It is also the first National Championship rally sanctioned by the Philadelphia Region since the 1983 Appalachian Road Rally\, 40 years ago! \n\n\n\nThe 50th Little Appalachian will be a throwback event\, as it is a course rally of moderate difficulty and will use the Abridged RoadRally Rules. It uses a fixed priority list\, including the principal road rule. There are no main road determinants\, yet we’ll use the onto rule and letter instructions. The route will be in Chester County\, known for its horse farms\, and Lancaster County\, an Amish area. \n\n\n\nAt the rally’s conclusion\, the contestants will head down to New Jersey for the final two rallies of the USRRC – The Jersey Devil National Tour and Up the Creek National Course Rally by Rallymaster Jim Wakemen. \n\n\n\nThis rally will use the Richta GPS Competitor App and the SCCA Abridged RoadRally Rules. \n\n\n\nHere are some images from the early years of the Appalachian National Rally: 1960 Rally Regulations and the 1958 rally plate.

DESCRIPTION:Raindrop 2023 Trees to Seas will start in Monroe and tour for 120 miles over 5-1/2 hours. Roads will be paved and suitable for any automobile.  \n\n\n\nRaindrop is a leisurely paced Time-Speed-Distance (TSD) rally with fine driving roads\, minimum traffic\, and wonderful scenery. The rally is geared toward the novice entrant with no traps\, and with mileages for every instruction\, but precise timing will still be required to score well. Entrants receive instructions with specific\, clear directions at speeds at or below legal limits\, with specific times to start each section at one-minute intervals. Raindrop is a “closed control” (passage control) format where cars do not stop at checkpoints. The goal is to pass each checkpoint at the correct second\, and the car with least number of points wins. Precision timing is the main criteria\, but Rainier also emphasizes remote areas and spectacular scenery. \n\n\n\nDate: NOTE — RESCHEDULED to October 8\, 2023 (was May 7\, 2023) \n\n\n\nStart Location: Monroe Square (between Taco Time and Jack-in-the-Box).  \n\n\n\nFirst Car Out: 10:00 AM \n\n\n\nFinish Location: Orlando’s BBQ\, Oak Harbor\, WA \n\n\n\nRallymaster: Bill Walsh \n\n\n\nRegistrar: Eric Horst Contact Eric for questions about your registration or to make any changes after you register. \n\n\n\nEntry Fee: $50 per prepaid auto entry\, $15 for extra route book. DESCRIPTION:The Great American Mountain Rally Revival (GAMRR) will return to the beautiful Green Mountain State of Vermont this Fall. This fall will be the 70th Anniversary of the first running of the Great American Mountain Rally! \n\n\n\nThanksgiving weekend in 1953 started the Great American Mountain Rallye that ran for four years – through 1956. In 2018\, my friend Steve McKelvie and I decided to revive this historical event as the Great American Mountain Rally Revival (GAMRR). \n\n\n\nSince that first revival running in 2018\, our entries have traversed almost 1600 miles through some of New England’s most beautiful countryside. We have run through New York’s Adirondack Mountains\, Vermont’s Green Mountains\, and New Hampshire & Maine’s White Mountains and Lakes Regions. We have retraced hundreds of miles of the original routes that were run in the 1950s. \n\n\n\nIn 2023\, we will run the event out of the Bolton Valley area of Vermont\, which affords us access to great mountain passes\, rolling farmland\, and the Lake Champlain Valley. If you have participated in GAMRR before\, you know the quality of Vermont roads; otherwise\, you will surely enjoy what we have in store for this year. As we did last year\, we have a very special stop for lunch on day one at an amazing automotive facility. \n\n\n\nPricing and lodging details will be forthcoming in the next few weeks\, and we anticipate opening registration in May. SUMMARY:KS: Kansas Rib Run Rally
DESCRIPTION:The Kansas Rib Run Rally\, sanctioned by the Kansas City Chapter of the Vintage Triumph Registry will run on Saturday\, September 16th. Rallymasters (or should that be Grillmasters) Rich Bireta and Albert Weaver have laid out the route\, which will be 100-miles in length and traverse the counties of Leavenworth\, Douglas\, Shawnee\, and Jefferson Counties. The Event Chair is Jeff Givens. \n\n\n\nThe event is only open to classic British sports car entries (think MG\, Triumph\, Jaguar\, Austin Healy). A sweep vehicle and Lucas parts depot will follow the field through the route.  \n\n\n\nWe will start from The Fuel House in Bonner Springs\, with Registration at 8:00 AM and the first car off on the route at 9:01 AM. SUMMARY:OR: Nor'wester Rally 2023 - Oregon Backroads Tour
DESCRIPTION:Nor’wester is a Time-Speed-Distance (TSD) rally conducted since 1967\, by the Rainier Auto Sports Club. Entrants receive instructions with specific\, clear directions at speeds at or below legal limits\, with specific times to start each section at one-minute intervals. Nor’wester is a “closed control” format where cars do not stop at checkpoints. \n\n\n\nIt’s a pure touring rally with no tricks or traps and an equal penalty for passing a checkpoint (which may be hidden) early or late. Speeding is a sure way to lose as the goal is to pass at the correct second\, and the car with the least number of points wins. Precision timing is the main criterion\, but Nor’wester also emphasizes remote areas and spectacular scenery. \n\n\n\nRallymaster: Jim Breazeale\n\n\n\nRoutemaster: Ron Sorem\n\n\n\nRegistrar: Contact Eric Horst for questions about your registration or to make any changes after you register.\n\n\n\nEntry Fee: $300 per pre-paid auto entry\, $15 for an extra route book. SUMMARY:FL: Buccaneer Region SCCA Inaugural RoadRally
DESCRIPTION:We are excited to host the first-ever Buccaneer Region SCCA RoadRally! This first event will be a “GTA” or “gimmick” road rally in the style of a “poker run.” Each car will drive on paved public roads to a specific checkpoint using their provided GPS navigation where they will draw a playing card from a deck of cards and be given an envelope with the next checkpoint’s address. This will continue until the participants reach the final destination\, a restaurant where scoring\, awards\, and lunch will be available (you are responsible for purchasing your own food\, we encourage everyone to eat and support the location).  \n\n\n\nAny car is allowed\, such that it meets all Florida and Georgia state laws and is insured to meet those states’ minimum requirements. A valid driver’s license and proof of insurance will be required at on-site registration.  \n\n\n\nThere will not be any official classes or required car numbers for this event. Each car is allowed as many people as there are seatbelts in the vehicle\, but it is recommended that each car have at least two people\, a Driver and a Navigator\, such that teams can participate in the optional quizzes that will be provided at each checkpoint. There will be a starting location\, five (5) checkpoints\, followed by a finishing location.  \n\n\n\nOnline registration is required to attend\, there will be no on-site registration available. COURSE FOLLOWINGAt check-in\, participants will be given an envelope that contains the first checkpoint’s name and street address\, along with a few questions that we encourage you to answer related to things you should see along that leg of the rally. Participants will enter the checkpoint address into their GPS or cell phone and follow the instructions it states to reach the destination. This is not a timed event\, and you must obey all local posted traffic laws – including the speed limits! If you are given a citation for any reason while participating\, your entry will be disqualified and no scores provided.  \n\n\n\n3. RALLY LEGSThe rally has six total legs. At each checkpoint\, the participants will select a card from a deck of cards\, and be provided with a new envelope containing the next checkpoint’s name and address\, along with a new set of questions for that leg. The entrant enters the newly provided street address into their GPS and continues on. It is encouraged that the questions provided are read prior to leaving the checkpoint as you never know when the answers may appear!  \n\n\n\n4. SCORINGAs this event is a “poker run”\, the participant’s “poker hand” will determine the winner. In the event of a tie\, the total number of correct answers to the questions will be used as the tiebreaker.  \n\n\n\n5. SAFETYPlease drive carefully. Obey the speed limit at all times. Anyone receiving a citation of any kind will be disqualified. All roads used are paved and open to the public. DESCRIPTION:The SCCA New England Region’s All the Myriad of Ways is a National GTA (Game-Tour-Adventure) Road Rally and a NER special event. After a short odometer check\, contestants will receive a map of Connecticut and a list of questions. The objective is to answer as many questions as possible in the least amount of miles (think scavenger hunt). \n\n\n\nAs a National Championship SCCA event\, all competitors must be SCCA members; a Weekend Membership is available for $15. Non-SCCA members are encouraged to enter the Hurdle 2023 Regional GTA which runs the same day. \n\n\n\nTeams are limited to two adults (over age 16) per vehicle.
