DESCRIPTION:The SCCA NEOhio Region invites you to enter the 2023 Vertigo Rally. The ±180-mile route will wind through the hills of Ohio’s Stark\, Carroll\, Columbiana\, and Jefferson Counties\, utilizing many of the same roads as an old rally of the same name. \n\n\n\nCompetitors can expect an absolutely straightforward\, gimmick-free\, Time-Speed-Distance (TSD) road rally with emphasis on precise timing at well-placed controls. Route Instructions will include Official Mileages for all action points. \n\n\n\nThe Vertigo Rally will count toward the SCCA Great Lakes Division Rally Championship and the SCCA National Touring Championship. \n\n\n\nStart Location:  Bob Evans Restaurant\, 5375 Dressler Rd.\, North Canton\, Ohio  44720 (Latitude N41.85920˚\, Longitude W080.64255˚). \n\n\n\nTentative Schedule (all times EDT): \n\n\n\nSaturday\, May 6\, 2023: 23:59 – Early entry cutoff \n\n\n\nWednesday\, May 10\, 2023: 18:00 – Registration closes. General Instructions and Richta password distributed via email. \n\n\n\nThursday\, May 11\, 2023: 20:00 – Competitor briefing / Novice Q & A session (via Zoom) \n\n\n\nSaturday\, May 13\, 2023: \n\n\n\n     09:30-10:40 – On-site registration \n\n\n\n     11:01 – Car #1 starts rally. \n\n\n\n      17:30 (approx) – Car #1 finishes. \n\n\n\nCompetition Classes: \n\n\n\n     E – Equipment unrestricted. \n\n\n\n     L – Odometer unrestricted. Calculating device is restricted only in that it may not be integrated with odometer. \n\n\n\n     G – GPS–derived odometer only and any calculating device. \n\n\n\n     S – Stock odometer only. Calculating device is restricted only in that it may not be integrated with odometer. \n\n\n\n     Novice – Class S entry in which neither team member has previously entered more than 5 TSD rallies. \n\n\n\nEntry Fees: \n\n\n\n     SCCA Members (Driver and/or Navigator have an annual membership): $45.00/car before the early entry cutoff\, $55.00 after that. \n\n\n\n     Others: Add $20.00 to the above (Member) fees (to purchase the mandated SCCA Weekend/Trial memberships for both team members). Individuals that purchase a Weekend Membership are eligible for a $15.00 credit toward an annual SCCA membership for 60 days following the rally.  \n\n\n\nNOTE: All teams must pre-register! Click here for MotorsportReg\, where you’ll find more information about the Vertigo Rally and get your team registered. There will be no walk-in entries on the day of the rally. SCCA Members are urged to apply for an Annual Waiver to bypass the signing of the paper waivers at each SCCA event. Should either of your team be a Minor (under 18 years of age)\, don’t hesitate to contact Rallymaster Ron Johnstonbaugh to obtain an SCCA Minor Waiver form to be properly executed before the rally by the Minor’s parents/guardian. \n\n\n\nThis rally will be timed with the Richta GPS Competitor automated checkpoint system. Each team must carry a “smart” phone or tablet (Android or iOS) running the current version of the Richta GPS Competitor “app.” Before the rally\, all the checkpoint information (Latitude/Longitude coordinates and target arrival times) will be uploaded to the “cloud.” Teams will receive a password allowing them to download this information for their entry. Competitors will NOT be able to view this information in advance. Upon arrival at each checkpoint\, a team’s device will sound an alert\, displaying the team’s recorded arrival time\, the score for that control\, and cumulative score. The device may also display leg “critique” information provided by the Rallymaster Ron Johnstonbaugh. \n\n\n\nSome helpful Richta user information can be found on the Detroit Region\, SCCA website: http://drscca.org/rally/using-the-richta-competitor-app/ \n\n\n\nTeams are encouraged to register a second (backup) phone or tablet under a “phantom” car number 100 greater than their assigned car number (Car #1/101\, Car #2/102\, etc.). The second device will serve as an arrival time “insurance policy” and help organizers better understand the relative timing behavior of various platforms. It will not be used for scoring unless there is a failure of the primary device.

This month’s maximum penalty is 120 seconds (2 minutes) per checkpoint. SUMMARY:WI: Roads Scamper 2023 National Tour Rally
DESCRIPTION:Join your fellow RoadRally enthusiasts for this 180-mile time-speed-distance National Tour RoadRally in the beautiful Wisconsin countryside. You and your rally partner will enjoy a scenic adventure through the marvelous country roads from Prairie du Chien to Madison on the north side of the Wisconsin River.   \n\n\n\nThis rally will use the Richta GPS Competitor app. Contestants will download the app to their smartphones in advance of the rally. During the rally\, this app will use the GPS signals and automatically record your arrival time at each checkpoint and then display your score to you!!  No more waiting until the rally is over to find out how you did. A bonus feature of this Richta GPS checkpoint system is that we can provide many more checkpoints and more challenging checkpoint locations. Expect at least 100 checkpoints in this 180-mile rally. Contestants will need a smartphone to run this event. If you plan to run another rally app during the event\, you’ll need to do that on a separate device; the Richta GPS Competitor app needs to be the only app running on your phone during the rally. \n\n\n\nThis is a tour-type rally\, so there are no tricks or traps. There are no unpaved roads on the Roads Scamper National Tour Rally route. \n\n\n\nSchedule: Check-in – 7:30 AM to 8:00 AM Sunday \n\n\n\nFirst Car Off – 8:31 AM  First Car Finished – Approx 3:15 pm at the Dorf Haus Restaurant\, Roxbury\, WI. \n\n\n\nCost: $70/car. Both members of the rally team must have an SCCA membership. DESCRIPTION:Over the June 9-11th Weekend\, the MG Car Club (of England)\, Rocky Mountain Centre\, will be hosting Rallye Glenwood Springs\, billed as the oldest continuously run TSD rally in the U.S.\, and celebrating the 100th Anniversary of the MG car company. After WW II\, returning military officers came home with the MG TC\, a lightweight roadster suitable for road\, track\, and hill climbs. The cars created a sensation\, leading to the rapid expansion of sports car ownership in the U.S. in the early 1950s. These cars\, together with Jags\, 356 Porsches\, and the occasional Allard\, first contested the Rallye Glenwood Springs.  \n\n\n\nThe MGCC\, RMC was chartered in 1954. Among the founding members were Hazel Hopkins Marble\, a local road race and hill climb enthusiast\, and Doreen Evans\, a member of the famous “Dancing Daughters\,” an all-woman MG factory race team of the 1930s. The MGCC\, RMC\, currently has more than 200 member families. \n\n\n\nThe centerpiece of a three-day sports car event\, the Rallye is run in and around beautiful Glenwood Springs\, Colorado\, on Saturday\, June 10th. All makes\, and models are invited\, though sports cars and classics are strongly encouraged.  \n\n\n\nThe Friday History Repeats Itself Tour begins at Gunther Toody’s Restaurant\, 8266 W Bowles Ave\, Littleton\, CO\, and may be started at your leisure; however\, we recommend you depart no later than 9:00A so you can be at the hotel in time to complete the tie-breaker questions. Tour instructions are given out between 7:30A and 9:00A at Gunther Toody’s. As in the past\, pay attention to everything along the way\, as successfully answering the tie-breaker questions at the end may rely upon that particular skill.   \n\n\n\nTour Classes \n\n\n\nYou can only enter one class. \n\n\n\nThe MG class is for all MG vehicles driven on the tour.  \n\n\n\nThe Vintage class is for cars\, including MGs\, made before 1970.  \n\n\n\nThe Modern class is for all non-MG cars made from 1970 onwards.  \n\n\n\nFirst\, second\, and third-place trophies will be presented for each class. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOn Saturday\, the Rallye Glenwood Springs begins with registration at 7A. The First Car Departs at 8:01A from the Courtyard Glenwood Springs\, our host hotel. This year’s Rallye is a traditional Time Speed Distance (TSD) Rallye. The Rallyemaster has avoided hard-to-see signs and other annoyances to ensure a fun and challenging rallye experience. An insurance waiver must be signed by both driver and navigator before departing. \n\n\n\nA clipboard\, pen/pencil and paper\, stopwatch\, and a well-read copy of the Rallye General Instructions will be helpful. Please visit the MGCC.org website to read the Rallye General Instructions and the Rallye Primer. A draft copy of the Supplement will also be posted\, with a final version in your Rallye packet. One or more experienced rallyists will be available at the start location to answer questions. \n\n\n\nThe route is on paved roads. All assigned speeds will be at or below posted speed limits. There will be breaks along the route\, including a lunch break.  \n\n\n\nRallye Classes \n\n\n\nNovice SOP (Seat of the Pants) – Rallyists are eligible for Novice class until they win a First Place or have competed in THREE TSD Rallyes. Pencil and paper calculations only.  \n\n\n\nIntermediate SOP – Rallyists are eligible for Intermediate class until they have won First Place in Intermediate class.  Pencil and paper calculations only.  \n\n\n\nExperienced SOP – No limit on experience. Pencil and paper calculations only. Rallye charts and tables are permitted.  \n\n\n\nVintage – Any equipment must be period correct. Cars must be forty years old or older (1982 or older).  \n\n\n\nComputer – No limit on equipment. \n\n\n\nParticipants must properly determine their Rallye class and enter it on their scorecard. Failure to indicate your class on the scorecard will place you in Experienced SOP class.  \n\n\n\nTrophies are awarded in first through fourth places in Novice and Intermediate Classes\, and first through third places in Experienced\, Vintage\, and Computer Classes. \n\n\n\nAnd the festivities don’t end there! On Sunday\, there will be a Car Show and a Funkhana\, Youth Judging\, and Special Awards for the weekends activities.

SUMMARY:IN: Putnam Purple Cow Precision RoadRally
DESCRIPTION:Putnam Purple Cow Precision is a Tour RoadRally designed to be run by individuals attending the SCCA Time Trial event at Putnam Park Road Course the weekend of July 1-2\, 2023. While the goal on track is to go fast\, the goal of a RoadRally is to drive with precision and observation. The course will take participants into Cloverdale and back to Putnam Park while highlighting some of the amenities and unusual sites in the area. The entire course can be driven in less than an hour.  \n\n\n\nThe rally uses Richta GPS Checkpoints\, and participants may run it any time at their convenience from registration on Saturday until mid-afternoon on Sunday\,  If you are joining us for pizza in Cloverdale on Saturday evening\, you can drive the first part of the rally from Putnam Park to Cloverdale on the way and then finish the return trip whenever you would like. \n\n\n\nThe cost of the RoadRally is $25 per car for members. If you are not an SCCA Member but are running the Time Trial Event the same weekend\, then your weekend membership also covers this event. If you are not an SCCA member and have not purchased a weekend membership covering July 1-2\, you must pay a $ 15 Weekend Membership fee at event check-in. \n\n\n\nTo make things interesting\, live scoring for the RoadRally may be viewed with the Richta GPS Competitor system all weekend. If you run the rally and think you could do better\, we will assign you a new car number for a $10 donation to the rally pot\, and you can rerun the event. The event winners will get 50% of the rally pot\, 2nd place will get 30%\, and 3rd place will receive 20%. \n\n\n\nThe only class for this event is Stock. You must use your car’s odometer. A simple calculation device is permitted. The rally is designed so that you can get a good score just by following the directions and maintaining the correct speed between checkpoints. It is designed for those who have not rallied before but is also challenging for experienced rallyists. DESCRIPTION:Join the SCCA San Diego Region\, on its Backcountry Bliss Rally\, on Saturday\, July 15th. The TSD Tour Rally will be using the Richta GPS Checkpoints app for scoring. SUMMARY:OR: Northwest Classic Car Challenge
DESCRIPTION:In 2023\, the NW Classic Car Challenge will have it’s 34th running over the August 3-6th weekend. The rally will hold close to its roots\, featuring a classic TSD (time-speed-distance) road rally complete with MRDs/TRAPS\, rigorous course following (using OR and ITIS instructions)\, and this year we have added a relaxed Tour rally. Both travel wonderful twisty backroads from Portland\, OR to Eugene\, Oregon\, over two days of driving. \n\n\n\nBut we have also made some changes to change with the times. First\, you no longer need an old car to participate. We ENCOURAGE new sports car owners to join! We have special recognition planned for new Alfa owners. But ANY suitable modern car can sign up. If you don’t want to drive that finicky Spider or MG\, you can bring out your Mustang\, BMW\, or… \n\n\n\nOur presenting sponsor\, Vintage Underground\, forged another change to encourage new and younger participants. The tour can now be a traditional “follow-the-leader” format or ON YOUR OWN with a simplified route book. And all tour participants can take some pictures along the way\, like their car going through one of the seven covered bridges or other landmarks along the route. If they post the photos to Instagram or FaceBook with the event hashtag #NWCCRALLY\, they receive a raffle ticket for items raffled during the Awards Brunch on Sunday. The goal is to encourage and engage tour participants and have something for them to look forward to on Sunday besides the People’s Choice “Concours and Coffee.” \n\n\n\nAlso added to Sunday is a classic\, 1960s-style gymkhana. There is no cost; teams can watch\, participate\, or both (see details below in the comprehensive schedule). As of April 25th\, we have 34 RALLY entries and eight TOUR entrants at the time of writing. We expect 50-60 cars in total. \n\n\n\nHere is the planned schedule for the 34th NW Classic Car Challenge. The committee has created an enjoyable and complete weekend with social aspects and events beyond just a RALLY or a TOUR. It is a true bucket list event! \n\n\n\n#NWCCRALLY \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThursday Eve\, August 3rd\, 5–9:00 PM – SCRUTINEERING PARTY at Ron Tonkin Alfa Romeo in Beaverton. Come out and see the cars — everyone is welcome! \n\n\n\nFriday\, August 4th\, 8:00 AM – Ceremonial start of the NW Classic Car Challenge Rally and Tour from Ron Tonkin Alfa Romeo with a TV crew like Tony Martinez\, a Shriner as the starter\, and Scott Fisher has agreed to be the announcer. \n\n\n\n• SPECTATOR AREA along the route: Friends\, family\, and photographers cheer on the cars as they pass through a spectator point in the Portland/Tigard area. \n\n\n\n• Catered Lunch at the ZCBJ Hall in Scio\, OR. WiFi will be available for uploading Tour Challenge photos. \n\n\n\n• Day 1 ends at Valley River Inn\, Eugene ~4:30 PM\, with BEER sponsored in the parking lot \n\n\n\n• Evening Banquet – 6:30 PM with a slide show and KaHoots! DESCRIPTION:Time for the August First Friday Niter!  Rallymaster Paul McGaffey has written a pure tour course using the Monte Carlo style timing. You will be given “Car Zero Times” at each Checkpoint. Just add your car number in minutes to the Car Zero Time to get your time to cross each Checkpoint. If you get there early\, you may stop or creep without penalty\, so long as you do it safely and out of traffic lanes. The course will take you through the magnificent driving roads of the Santa Monica Mountains and Finish at BJ’s Brewhouse\, 3955 Thousand Oaks Blvd\, Westlake Village. \n\n\n\nThis rally uses the Competitor Richta GPS Checkpoints app for timing and scoring\, with timing in seconds. This month’s maximum penalty is 60 seconds (1 minute) per checkpoint. The app is FREE and easy to use on any GPS-enabled smartphone. Go to the App Store or Google Play Store\, or https://richtarally.com/. DESCRIPTION:You’re invited to the Tick Tock Rally\, an SCCA Regional Time-Speed-Distance (TSD) Tour Rally on scenic paved backroads of Denton County. All entrants are welcome. No prior rally experience is necessary—a precision driving event at fun speeds. Course following is easy with GPS mileage on every turn. We assign the speeds to drive. The object is to arrive at checkpoints along the route at the correct time. We score you on how close to the perfect time you arrive at checkpoint locations. No calculations are necessary. Come on out and join the SCCA Texas Region! \n\n\n\nWe will send you information on the app after you pre-register on MotorsportReg. There are 67 timing checkpoints in about 81 miles of the rally route. DESCRIPTION:All roads look different after sunset. Driving a night rally is like stepping into a parallel universe\, defined only by the route instructions\, odometer\, and headlights. Please join the Redwood Region PCA for our annual night rally and experience rallying in an alternate\, dark reality. The Hot August Night is a Monte Carlo-style rally. \n\n\n\nThere will be no onsite registration\, so head over to MotorsportReg for more information and to register. Entry fees are $25 for PCA Members and $30 for non-PCA. \n\n\n\nPCA membership is not required\, and all cars are welcome. There are no experience or equipment-based classes. A 13 or older navigator is required\, and additional occupants are always welcome. \n\n\n\nAll roads are paved and in good condition. The route will be well-defined\, with miles to each turn and a diagram of each intersection. The exact location of each checkpoint\, and the time you are due\, will be included in your route instructions. You will use the free Competitor Richta GPS Competitor app on your smartphone\, which includes the official rally time. Simply pass the checkpoint at your assigned time for a zero!

DESCRIPTION:The SCCA San Francisco Region is returning to the SCCA National Tour RoadRally Championship with its Gold Rush National Tour Rally on August 27th\, a day after Golden West 2023 Road Rally\, a National Course RoadRally Championship event. The Entry Fee for SCCA Members is $90 for each rally or $170 for the weekend. An SCCA Weekend Membership is available for an additional $15\, as may be needed by a team. General Instructions will be emailed on August 19th\, and all entries must be received by August 21st. \n\n\n\nAs of April 20th\, the tentative schedule: Registration at Headquarters: Friday\, August 25th\, 5:00-7:30 PM \n\n\n\nThe Gold Rush National Tour Rally\, by Rallymaster Stu Helfer\, will be a low-pressure\, low-scoring touring event through southern Sacramento and San Joaquin Counties—an easy-to-follow drive with mileages at most route instructions and many GPS scoring opportunities. \n\n\n\nRallymaster Andy Stocker encourages rallyists to compete in the two National Championship RoadRally events by Cal Club Region and the Santa Monica Sports Car Club the prior weekend\, August 19th and 20th\, and then spend several days heading north along the amazing California coastline. Visit places like the Getty Museum\, Santa Barbara\, Hearst’s Castle\, Big Sur\, Carmel\, Monterey Bay Aquarium\, Santa Cruz\, Bodega Bay\, Napa Valley Wineries\, and more!
