SUMMARY:VT: New England Region Winter Challenge RoadRally\, Barre
DESCRIPTION:The Winter Challenge Rally\, by Rallymaster John Buffum\, will take place February 28th and end in the early morning hours of March 1st. The rally will generally follow the NER (New England Region) Road Rally Regulations (RRR)\, which can be viewed at (NER.ORG). We have condensed the RRR’s and these ‘Generals’ should be all you need to follow the correct course. Interested teams can find more information at winterchaallengerally.com. \nRally Philosophy: \nWINTER CHALLENGE RALLY (WC) is not a ‘trap rally; it has a couple of thinking situations in Section 1) – don’t overthink every NRI. There will be 15-20 Regularity Sections (RS) throughout the day (night).  The controls at the start of Regularity Sections are called CZT’s (Car Zero Time); you should self-start (at 1 minute intervals) at your start time. No penalties will accrue at these controls. Within the RS’s\, starting at the CZT\, there will be timed portions (Legs). \nYou will be penalized for every SECOND you arrive early or late at timing control points in these Legs. There may be multiple controls in each timed portion (leg). After the last timing CP or the notation “End Regularity timing” (whichever comes first)\, there are no controls and competitors can travel at their own pace. Driving normally\, you should get to the start of the next RS 2 minutes before your RESTART time.  The Route Instructions will show the RESTART time for Car 0. Your Richta phone will show your ideal RESTART time.

SUMMARY:IN: More Scrambled Legs Road Rally\, Evansville
DESCRIPTION:The SCCA Southern Indiana Region kicks off their rally season on Sunday\, March 8th\, with More Scrambled Legs. The event will start from Hardee’s in Evansville\, and Rallymaster Bob Sonntag encourages you to arrive a little early if this is your first rally or first rally in a long time.; there will be some brief tutoring to make your day more fun!\n\nHere’s the link to information and registration in MSR:  https://msreg.com/2026-RALLY-1. Preregistration is required; there is no onsite registration. Drivers register first and then the Navigator. Please\, do not bring someone who is not registered. Guests should use the SpeedWaiver process during registration.\n\nThe route is all paved. Nearly all of it nicely paved. There’s spot about 40 feet long of “tough winter” and it’s not a problem.\n\nThose with good memories may remember last year’s Scrambled Legs and this second helping is a different take on much of that route.  Oh sure\, there’s a visit to Buente Road\, a touch of Trapp Road\, a little counting of Opps at Ts\, some loops\, and one other little thing to see who will drop shell into their omelet.\n\nAdjustments have been made for the 90s that aren’t “CASTable.”\n\nWith breaks & no mistakes\, the route runs about 97 miles and will take about 3.25 hours to get to Los Bravos on Evansville’s west side.\n\nJoin us and see if\, as a friend put it\, if this rally is all it’s cracked up to be.\n\n\n\n\n

SUMMARY:FL: Around Again Road Rally\, Macclenny
DESCRIPTION:We are excited to announce our latest road rally for the 2026 Buccaneer Region SCCA Road Rally Championship! So far in our series\, the rally route instructions have contained street names\, increment mileage\, and CASTs for every instruction and have been classified as a Tour-style rally. This time we’re changing it up and introducing participants to the concepts of Main Road (a.k.a. Principal Road) style instructions with a Course-style TSD (Time-Speed-Distance). Instead of having street names and speeds for every turn\, you’ll have instructions that will read “Left at 4th opportunity.” For more information on main road rallies and what they entail\, review Article 22 and Article 23 of the 2026 SCCA NRRRs: https://www.scca.com/downloads/78459-2026-scca-roadrally-rulebook/download. \nEach car will drive on paved public roads using a set of predefined route instructions through various checkpoints using the Richta GPS Checkpoints Road Rally mobile application. Participants will be scored based on their arrival time at each of the defined checkpoints. We will start at Burger King\, where cars will depart 1 minute apart. The finish will be Sixth Street Steakhouse\, also in Macclenny\, where scoring\, awards\, and lunch will be available (you are responsible for purchasing your own food\, we encourage everyone to eat and support the location). \nAny car is allowed\, such that it meets all Florida state laws and is insured to meet the state’s minimum requirements. A valid driver’s license and proof of insurance will be required at on-site registration. Each car is allowed as many people as there are seatbelts in the vehicle\, but each car is required to have at least 2 people\, a driver and a navigator. Drivers without a navigator will not be allowed to participate. There will be a starting location\, five (5) unmanned checkpoints\, followed by a sixth checkpoint at the finishing location. Team numbers will be assigned but the starting order will be determined at random. \nRegistration Fee: $25 for SCCA members\, $50 for non-SCCA members (includes required Weekend Membership). Classes will be Stock\, Limited\, and SOP. You can learn more about the classes and event details at the event website shown below.\nEstimated Duration: 93 miles\, 2-2.5hrs in duration\, breaks are allowed along the way at your leisure.\nRequired Equipment: Dedicated smart phone with Richta Competitor mobile app\, cannot be used while the rally is active. Download at https://richtarally.com/\nRecommended Equipment: Clipboard\, pencils/pens\, highlighters\, stopwatches (smartphone ok)\, calculator\, secondary (and/or 3rd) smartphone \n

SUMMARY:IL: USRRC St. Louis Region RoadRally Weekend
DESCRIPTION:The 31st Annual SCCA United States Road Rally Challenge® is hosted by the St. Louis Region\, SCCA. \nPlease join us! \nOur Objective:\nTo provide you\, the competitor\, with an exceptional USRRC weekend that will\, regardless of your skill or experience level\, polish your rally skills and show you some of the most enjoyable sports-car roads in southern Illinois. Along the way\, we’ll introduce you to a bit of history\, showcase some out-of-the-way communities\, host a reception or two\, and allow plenty of time for socializing and just plain fun—all in the hope that you will have as much fun participating in this weekend as we’ve had organizing it for you. \nWe will conduct the 2026 USRRC in accordance with the SCCA Road Rally Rules (RRRs)\, 2026 Edition (available online in the RoadRally section at scca.org\, as well as from Amazon.com)\, as amended by our General Instructions for the weekend. \nIf you will have Monday\, Oct. 12\, as a holiday (Columbus Day/Indigenous Peoples Day)\, we urge you spend an extra day here in southern Illinois (and in St. Louis) and enjoy some of the great things our region has to offer. Actually\, visit a day early\, too. There’s a lot to do and see here (e.g.\, visit riversandroutes.com\,  downstateil.org\, and explorestlouis.com). You won’t regret it. \nThe 2026 USRRC Rallies: \n\nSouth by Southeast National Course Rally\nGreat River Road National Touring Rally\nRoute 66 Ramble National Touring Rally (Monte Carlo format)\n\nThe South by Southeast National Course Rally makes its inaugural appearance on the National Championship schedule as part of this year’s USRRC. The Great River Road Tour made its first appearance on the National schedule as part of the 2001 USRRC\, which we hosted from the lodge at Pere Marquette State Park outside Grafton\, Ill. The Route 66 Ramble made its first appearance on the National schedule as a Divisional Tour in 2016. This year\, in honor of the centenary of Route 66\, we have made it a National\, with the hope that we can show you more of that historic route in southern Illinois than we did in 2016. \nWho’s Who on the 2026 USRRC Committee: \n\nChairman: James Heine\nRallymasters: Tom vonHatten\, James Heine\nControl corrdinator: David Dunn\nRegistrar: Rose vonHatten\nSafety Steward: Stan Lawson\nOfficial precheck: Jessica Toney\nLong-distance prechecks: Joe Akerman\, Larry Scholnick\nRRB liaison: Mike Thompson\n\nProvisional Schedule: \n\nTuesday\, Sept. 8: Last day to reserve a hotel room at the group rate\nWednesday\, Sept. 23: Drawing for car numbers\nFriday\, Sept. 25: General Instructions posted/emailed\nThursday\, Oct. 8: Evening registration and hospitality\nFriday\, Oct 9: South by Southeast National Course Rally\nSaturday\, Oct. 10: Great River Road National Touring Rally\nSunday\, Oct. 11: Route 66 Ramble National Touring Rally\, \n\n\n\n\n\n      Awards and goodbyes\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nUSRRC Classes: \nAs defined by the RRRs—Equipped\, Limited\, GPS\, Stock. \nThe USRRC Gateway Challenge Cup: \nIn addition to classes defined by the RRRs\, this year’s USRRC\, as in 2018\, will include a Gateway Challenge Cup as part of Saturday’s Great River Road Tour and Sunday’s Route 66 Ramble. \nWe offer the Regional-sanctioned Challenge Cup as an introduction to classic SCCA TSD road-rallying and as a fun way for the occasional rally team\, or the new rally team\, to explore National-level rallying\, enjoy their wheels\, and at the same time discover the great roads and countryside of southern Illinois. \nTo qualify for this class\, a team (driver and navigator) must have participated in no more than four SCCA Divisional or National road rallies. \nAs SOP (seat-of-the-pants) rallies\, team equipment will be limited but include a provision for a GPS rally odometer\, e.g.\, Richta\, which will help Challenge Cup teams with mileage and rally time. (Should sufficient interest be expressed\, i.e.\, a minimum of six teams\, the Committee will consider the addition of an Historic Gateway Challenge Cup class for 2026. The class would use the rules noted above\, with Historic defined as in production as of Dec. 31\, 1990). \nTiming and scoring:\nAll three National rallies\, as well as the USRRC Gateway Cup\,  will use Richta GPS Checkpoint System for timing and scoring. To compete\, each participating team will need a smartphone or tablet with active data cellular service (no airplane mode and no wi-fi only devices) with the Richta Competitor app installed. The Richta app will report your arrival time and leg score to your cellphone or tablet moments after you pass each GPS checkpoint location. For more information about the system visit richtarally.com. Also\, the SCCA Detroit Region’s rally page has a good summary of the Richta system\, especially its Competitor App: www.drscca.org/rally/using-the-richta-competitor-app. \nInformation:\nJames H. Heine\, Chairman\n314-922-6120\nroadrallychair@stlscca.org \nRegistrar:\nRose vonHatten\n314-477-6432\nrose.vonh@gmail.com \nWebsite: scca.org or stlscca.org \nEntry Fees:\nYour entry fee will be charged to your credit card about six weeks before the start of the USRRC. \nComplete 2026 USRRC for Equipped\, Limited\, GPS\, and Stock: $300.00 \nSingle-Day Entries: \n\nFriday: $125.00\nSaturday: $125.00\nSunday: $125.00\n\nGateway Challenge Cup Entries: \nComplete 2026 weekend (two rallies): $120.00 \nSingle-Day Entries: \n\nSaturday: $70.00\nSunday: $70.00\n\nUSRRC Weekend Memberships:\nIn a change from past USRRCs all non-SCCA competitors must obtain an SCCA Weekend Membership ($25.00) that is good for the entire weekend\, whether one runs one\, two\, or all three rallies. \nFor the concurrent Saturday and Sunday Gateway Challenge Cup rallies\, the regular rules regarding Weekend Memberships for Regional rallies will apply. The non-SCCA Primary Entrant must obtain a Weekend Membership; the Co-Entrant will receive a free Trial Membership for the weekend\, as will the non-SCCA member of an SCCA team\, which is defined as a team with at least one regular SCCA member. \nENTRY DEADLINE: Oct. 5\, 2026. \nEvent requirements\n\nRules and Waivers: \nThe standard SCCA rules regarding RoadRallies will be observed. See registration page for more information. \n____________ \n\nABOUT THE ST. LOUIS REGION\, SCCA \nThe St. Louis Region\, with some 600 members\, offers Club Racing\, Performance Driving Experience (PDX)\, RallyCross\, RoadRally\, Solo (autocross)\, and Street Survival School programs to educate and provide safe environments for individuals to enjoy their street-legal (daily driver) vehicles and purpose-built racecars. The Region is home to more than 80 National Champions and has been recognized four times by the Sports Car Club of America as the Region of the Year in its member category. In 2026\, the Region will become the first SCCA Region to host the United States Road Rally Challenge (USRRC) five times\, having hosted the premier event previously in 1998\, 2001\, 2005\, and 2018. To learn more about the St. Louis Region\, visit stlscca.org or the region’s Facebook page. \nABOUT THE SOUTHERN ILLINOIS REGION\, SCCA\nEncompassing the State of Illinois’ southern counties\, the SCCA’s Southern Illinois Region works closely with the St. Louis Region to host events at World Wide Technology Raceway and other venues throughout metropolitan St. Louis. Its southern Illinois counties have long served as as resource for both St. Louis and Southern Illinois Region Rallymasters.  \nABOUT EDWARDSVILLE\, Ill.\nNamed for Ninian Edwards\, influential Kentucky and Illinois businessman and politician\, governor of the Illinois Territory from 1809 to 1818\, War of 1812 hero (native Americans and people of color might have a different view of him)\, and third governor of Illinois (1826–30)\, Edwardsville was first settled in 1805 and incorporated in 1818\, when Illinois became a state. (Before 1818\, the Illinois Territory that Edwards governed included all of what we know today as Illinois and Wisconsin\, as well as parts of modern-day Michigan and Minnesota.) \nToday\, Edwardsville is the county seat of Madison County\, Illinois\, an affluent business and bedroom community in the Illinois portion of metro St. Louis\, the home of Southern Illinois University Edwardsville\, and the location of several residential districts included on the National Register of Historic Places\, including the village of Leclaire\, established in 1890 by St. Louis industrialist N. O. Nelson as a model workers’ village\, and incorporated into the City of Edwardsville in 1934. \nEdwardsville also is the headquarters of Prairie Farms Dairy\, one of the largest dairy cooperatives in the United States and a company ranked among the top 10 largest privately held companies in the St. Louis region. \nABOUT SOUTHERN ILLINOIS \nComprising the southern third of the state and beginning roughly south of Interstate 70\, southern Illinois offers features distinct from other parts of the Land of Lincoln. The farther south one travels\, the more “southern” the region becomes\, a heritage of its early 19th-century immigrants from Kentucky and other parts of the upper antebellum south. In terms of population and economy\, southern Illinois claims the largest metropolitan region—“the Metro East”—outside of Chicago\, an energetic business climate\, two of the state’s leading universities—Southern Illinois University–Carbondale\, and Southern Illinois University–Edwardsville—and a major military installation\, Scott Air Force Base\, as well as Scott’s civilian aviation neighbor\, MidAmerica St. Louis Airport. In terms of topography\, the region offers a more varied landscape than the tabletop evenness of central Illinois or the glaciated ruggedness of its northwestern portion. As in much of Illinois\, agriculture remains an economic cornerstone\, but it is a more diverse industry in southern Illinois than the corn/soybeans monoculture prevalent in central and northern Illinois. As a home for SCCA rallying\, the St. Louis and Southern Illinois Regions of the SCCA have explored the country lanes\, roads\, and highways of southern Illinois with great success since the founding of the two regions in the years after World War II. We will do so again in 2026\, with great pleasure.
