SUMMARY:WI: United States Road Rally Challenge
DESCRIPTION:The 2021 United States Road Rally Challenge\, sanctioned by the Sports Car Club of America over the July 30 – August 1st weekend\, will consist of one National Course Rally followed by two National Tour Rallies. All events will follow the 2021 RRR’s for Championship rallies. At this time it’s hard to say anything about the gatherings before and after the rally. There are no known COVID rules at the Hotel or other gathering points. \n\n\n\nThe weekend kicks off with a reception on Thursday evening at the host hotel. Clarence Westberg will be the Rallymaster for the Sparta Trails National Tour on Saturday\, and Mike Thompson will be the Rallymaster for the Sturculinus Creek National Course on Friday and the Badger Bash National Tour on Sunday. Three National Rallies in three days! \n\n\n\nAll rallies will begin at the Best Western Plus Sparta Trail Lodge (608-269-2664). The block on rooms expires on June 30. The magic words for called-in reservations are United States Road Rally Challenge\, Rally\, or Road Rally. The rate is $119 per night. \n\n\n\nRegistration closes July 25th\, 11:59PM.

SUMMARY:CA: First Friday Niter Social RoadRally
DESCRIPTION:The First Friday Niter Series has a long history with the Santa Monica Sports Car Club\, a Chapter of the SCCA California Sports Car Club.  \n\n\n\nJoin us for the August First Friday Niter on August 6. Jeanne English is the Rallymaster\, and she has written a rally again using some of her favorite roads in the foothills surrounding the Santa Clarita Valley. This time there will be some traps\, all less than a minute in trap value. We will be using the Richta Competitor app (free download) for timing to the nearest second. There will be a restart after each checkpoint\, and each checkpoint is listed in the route instructions. This means\, in effect\, that the rally is mostly a free zone since you only need to be on time at the checkpoints\, and they are all listed. The rally finishes at Topper’s Pizza Place\, 18417 Soledad Canyon Rd\, Santa Clarita\, 661-222-7888. \n\n\n\nRegistration opens at 7 PM\, with a Beginner/Richta App meeting at 740 PM. The first car is out at 801 PM. The entry is $25\, with a $10 discount if either the Driver or Navigator is an SCCA Member. Should you run the FFNs regularly\, this becomes an excellent reason to join the SCCA and other discounts available from National.

DESCRIPTION:You are invited to join the SCCA Detroit Region for this 190-mile time-speed-distance National Course RoadRally run on an entertaining mix of well-maintained paved (60%) and unpaved (40%) country roads around the state recreation areas and farmlands of Southeastern Michigan. Chelsea\, Michigan\, is conveniently located just 45 miles from the Detroit Metro Airport. This late summer daytime event will challenge your ability to apply the route following rules and directions to follow the prescribed rally route. Both Numbered and Lettered Route Instructions will be used on the Are you Territorial Road Rally?\, along with modified “Onto” and “T” Main Road Determinants. The rally will be novice-friendly for any rallyists already experienced with Tour rallies. The traps will be looped to minimize the chances of getting lost and GPS recovery points if you do. \n\n\n\nNOTE: This rally will use the Richta app for timing and scoring. SUMMARY:ON: Automatic Road Rally
DESCRIPTION:Automapic is a rally with a long history\, at one time it focused almost exclusivity on map reading skills. Now there is less of that\, especially in the novice and beginner classes. \n\n\n\nWhen:Car 1 out at 11:01AMEnd of Leg A about 1:00PMEnd of Leg B about 3:45PM \n\n\n\nCost$50 for the ORRC$20 for the SNATRIf you enter the ORRC you are automatically entered in the SNATR\, no extra fee. \n\n\n\nThis navigational rally consists of two legs. Leg A will count as one ORRC (Ontario Championship) and also be one of our SNATR’s (Saturday Night at the Rallies). Leg B will just be ORRC. The ORRC has novice & expert instructions\, the SNATR has beginner and novice. \n\n\n\nFor the purpose of ORRC series points only\, legs A & B are scored as two individual rallies. The awards will be for the entire rally \n\n\n\nLeg A classes:ORRC ExpertORRC Novice (same as SNATR Novice)SNATR beginner \n\n\n\nLeg B ClassesORRC ExpertORRC Novice \n\n\n\nThe SNATR beginner instructions will be easier than the ORRC novice. There is no SNATR for leg B but you are welcome to continue in leg B with novice instructions. \n\n\n\nThe  distance is for  leg A is about 100km\, Leg B 130km.  There is a 25 minute break between the two legs at the restaurant. There is no halfway point break in the SNATR.  Murray has picked all the obscure and interesting roads in the area where he grew up so it will interesting for both the driver and navigator. \n\n\n\nNavigational rally teams a driver and navigator to find their way through the route using sometimes cryptic instructions while staying on route and on time. Checkpoints at undisclosed locations along the route record your arrival time and penalties are accessed for early or late arrival. Average speeds needed to stay on time are usually at least 10% below the posted limit. It’s not a race\, it’s route finding and timing.  We have two levels of instructions\, beginner and novice. Beginner is perfect if you’ve never done this before.  Check out the brief overview of navigational rallying and here are some sample instructions. Want to bring the kids along? That’s fine\, if we know we can even print extra sets of instructions for them. \n\n\n\nWe’ve still got some Covid regulations to follow so we’re keeping contact to a minimum. SUMMARY:New Jersey National RoadRally Weekend
DESCRIPTION:In the fall of 2020\, with the popularity of the Richta GPS Timing System\, the two New Jersey Regions agreed to host the first New Jersey National RoadRally Weekend on October 9/10 of 2021. South New Jersey Region will be presenting a straightforward National Tour Rally starting near Atlantic City and traveling North By Northwest into the New Jersey Highlands. The Northern New Jersey Region’s New Jersey Monte\, a National Course Rally – Map Rally\, will begin from that locale.  \n\n\n\nOrson Wells Martians landed in Grover Mills – the North by Northwest Rally will take you by this landmark!\n\n\n\nOctober 9 – North by Northwest is an all-day 180+ mile straight forward Time-Speed-Distance Rally. Hosted by SJR is the first event of a New Jersey National Weekend. The route will start near Atlantic City and travel north by northwest ending in Clinton\, NJ.  \n\n\n\nThe route will have over 120 timed control locations. It will include some sand trails in the New Jersey Pine Barrens\, home of the New Jersey Devil\, pass by Grover Mills where Martians first landed in Orson Welles’ War of the Worlds 1938 radio drama\, and traverse the rolling county side of central New Jersey with its many one-lane bridges and scenic farmlands.  \n\n\n\nAll control locations will be listed in the route instructions. Including the control locations in the route instructions bring a special challenge and an increased focus to stay “on-time all the time” to get good scores on the event. Rallymaster Jim Wakemen and Event Chair Clyde Heckler are well known on the SCCA National Series circuit and have many National Championships to their names. \n\n\n\nOctober 10 – New Jersey Monte is an all-day 160+ mile Time-Speed-Distance Map Rally. This second event of the New Jersey National Weekend will start in Clinton\, NJ\, and end in Long Valley\, NJ. The route will be based on the ‘historic’ New Jersey ‘Esso’ map. All Timing Controls will be listed on the map with associated Car Zero ‘Key Time’ and Official Mileage. All you have to do is stay on course by following the route highlighted on the map and get to each of the Timed Controls ‘on time.’ How hard can it be? \n\n\n\nSet your own speeds between each control\, just as long are you arrive ‘on time’ at each of the twenty timed checkpoints\, but remember to stay on course per the route listed on the map to avoid additional penalties associated with hidden route controls. The New Jersey Monte is in honor of NNJR’s member Dave Panas who was one of the original organizers of the NJ Monte in the early 60s. The route will travel the rural roads of the New Jersey Highlands and skirt Blairstown\, home of Jason Voorhees\, the main character of the 1980 cult classic horror film Friday the 13th. The New Jersey Monte was last listed on the SCCA National Course Rally schedule in March of 1992 and marks NNJR’s return to the National Rally Series after an almost 30 years absence. Rallymaster Peter Schneider and Event Chair Bob Shore are best known as SCCA Regional organizers; last year\, 20% of all individuals attending an SCCA RoadRally in the United States attended one of their events. \n\n\n\nFor more information and to register\, click here!

DESCRIPTION:Join us this Fall to help us celebrate 70 years of the Texas Region SCCA with a fun-packed weekend of National-level RoadRally on North Texas country roads. \n\n\n\nHere’s what Rick Beattie wrote about the 2019 ONTO Fall National GTA Rally: “The General Instructions described many things like numbered route instruction\, main road determinants\, and course following rules that made it more of an untimed National Course Rally.” Winner Bruce Gezon described it as “really hard\, but nevertheless the best Course Rally he had run that year.” Jerry White described the traps as “just plain fun.” Rallymaster Witt will send you the Generals\, RI’s\, and detailed descriptions of the traps and loops from the 2019 GTA if you email her at lizwitt@yahoo.com. \n\n\n\nWe’re going to do it again with a course-following GTA and a Course Rally. On some of the best rally roads around\, mainly in Collin County. And Texas is usually beautiful in October. \n\n\n\nONTO Fall National Course Rally: Saturday will be a 180-mile course-following rally through the countryside on rural Texas’ beautiful\, paved roads. And with a grand tour of the town of Farmersville\, home of Audie Murphy. Designed for the experienced rallyist\, it will have variable Main Road Rule priorities\, and both numbered and lettered Route Instructions. Additionally\, some of the numbered instructions will have a choice of actions. Speeds will be moderate with the generous use of Free Zones. The Richta app will time you. \n\n\n\nONTO Fall National GTA Rally: The Saturday GTA Rally is also course-following and has many of the same traps as the Course Rally. But it has no lettered instructions\, so many of the traps are implemented differently. You will be scored by your answers to questions designed to determine if you followed the correct course and/or applied the rules correctly. \n\n\n\nPre-registration on MSReg.com is recommended – registration opens July 1st. SUMMARY:VT: Winter Challenge RoadRally
DESCRIPTION:The long-awaited Winter Challenge Road Rally\, sanctioned by the SCCA New England Region\, met its entry cap on February 2nd! \n\n\n\nRallymaster John Buffum will be providing updates for this year’s event: Generals\, Richta GPS Training\, and practice rallies for a map rally and route instructions on the winterchallengerally.com website. \n\n\n\nThe Winter Challenge Rally weekend\, which Vermont SportsCar presents\, will consist of a single New England Regional\, SCCA rally running from 4 pm Saturday until 2 am Sunday with two breaks. Although no car-breaking roads will be used\, the majority of the roads chosen are rural\, unpaved roads\, which will undoubtedly be snow and ice-covered. The rally will go no further east than Woodsville\, N.H.; no further north than Calais\, VT; no further west than Randolph\, VT; and no further south than Sharon\, VT. This year the rally again will have straightforward course instructions\, with a few bits to keep your mind occupied early in the event (about the same as in 2017); you do need to pay attention and drive ‘briskly.’ \n\n\n\nFor 2022\, the classes: \n\n\n\n\nClass A    Calculating equipment may receive a direct input from a mileage-measuring device.  Typical calculating devices in this Class include: Alfa\, Chronar\, Timewise\, and Zeron rally computers.\n\n\n\nClass L    If distance information is acquired only from a mechanical odometer\, it must be manually fed into any calculation device; the distance measuring device must be separate from the calculation device.  (e.g. Curta calculators\, tables\, laptop computer\, electronic APP\, programmable and nonprogrammable electronic calculators.   If the distance information is derived solely from GPS signals\, then any electronic APP may be used.\n\n\n\nClass S   Distance information must be visually acquired from the vehicle’s stock\, non-adjustable odometer in the stock location.

DESCRIPTION:Uh\, oh! The April First Friday Niter is on April Fool’s Day! Come on out to the Santa Monica Sports Car Club\, a Chapter of the SCCA Cal Club\, and see what Rallymaster Larry Scholnick has planned for you. He said\, “The rally is short on miles but long on traps.”   \n\n\n\nTranslated\, ‘It is a short rally\, only about 40 miles; there are\, indeed\, numerous traps…BUT\, there is only one trap per leg\, they are mostly easy to figure out (here’s a hint for one of them – make sure you know what SOL means)\, and all trap values are less than a minute (some much less). What’s really amazing\, is that all of the traps are different! It’s an excellent chance to see how good your rally skills are! \n\n\n\nThe rally finishes in Camarillo at Topper’s Pizza Place\, 425 Arneill Rd\, (805) 385-4444 (call ahead on your way to the finish so your pizza will be ready when you get there). \n\n\n\nWe are using the Richta GPS Competitor app for timing and scoring\, with timing in seconds. The maximum penalty for this FFN is 3 minutes (150 seconds) per leg\, and all checkpoints are referenced in the route instructions. Before you arrive at the start\, please download the Richta Competitor app to your phone; it’s a free download for Android and Apple devices. There is no need for additional timing equipment\, your Official Time shows in the app! \n\n\n\nPlease register here on MotorSportReg at msreg.com/FFN042022\, it helps us plan for how many cars will be attending and makes registration quicker for you. SUMMARY:CA: Coast to Coast Road Rally
DESCRIPTION:WHAT: \n\n\n\n An SCCA San Diego Region sanctioned Navigational (Time/Speed/Distance) RoadRally.\n\n\n\nWHEN:     \n\n\n\nSaturday\, April 9th\, departing in the morning and finishing before noon. A beginners meeting (an introduction for newcomers) will be held online the week before the event. The drivers meeting will be held online the night before the event at 6:00 PM\n\n\n\nWHERE: \n\n\n\nWe’ll start at La Costa Avenue Park & Ride\, Carlsbad\, CA 92011 before heading to the coast\, then into the twisty back roads of San Diego County and finishing at Tidewater Tavern in Solana Beach\n\n\n\nPRICE:     \n\n\n\nThe entry fee is $25 per car. The Driver must be an SCCA Member\, note that weekend memberships are available during registration for $15 (and these can be used as credit for a full SCCA membership)\n\n\n\nAWARDS:     \n\n\n\nResults will be posted online and trophies awarded to the top finishers in each class of competition. Real time results available through free road rally competitor app at event.\n\n\n\nLENGTH:     \n\n\n\nRally expected to cover 50 to 75 miles\, mostly on fun-to-drive country roads following legal limits. Each rally is designed to be completed in about 2 hours.\n\n\n\nBRING:     \n\n\n\nYou will need paper and pencil/pen\, a watch or clock with a second hand. A stopwatch and a clipboard will be helpful. A valid driver license and proof of current liability insurance are required. Your vehicle must meet basic safety standards (e.g.\, lights\, brakes\, windshield wipers and horn must work).\n\n\n\nParticipants: \n\n\n\nEach vehicle participating shall have at least two participants\, a Driver and Navigator. Passengers are allowed but no more than can safely be carried in the car and they must sign a Speedwaiver and register in the event.\n\n\n\nWHY:     \n\n\n\nThe object of a navigational rally is to follow the rally course at the assigned (legal) speeds and to arrive at each checkpoint on time; not early\, not late. Your score on each leg of the rally is based on how early or late you arrive at each checkpoint.

SUMMARY:WI: Milwaukee Region Roads Scholar National Course Road Rally
DESCRIPTION:Join your fellow RoadRally enthusiasts for this 180 mile time-speed-distance National Course RoadRally in the beautiful Wisconsin countryside. You and your rally partner will enjoy a scenic rally adventure through the marvelous country roads west of Madison\, Wisconsin. \n\n\n\nYou’ll be tested on your ability to observe\, reason\, maintain the assigned average speeds\, and follow explicit directions. This year’s event will use both Numbered and Lettered Route Instructions. There will be a variable Main Road rule. Experienced rallyists will find this rally to be one of the easier National Course rallies of the year. However\, it is not recommended for people who have never rallied before. It would be like a first-time skier attempting a blue diamond (moderate difficulty) ski trail.\n\n\n\nPRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED. \n\n\n\nHeadquarters Hotel:  Country Inn and Suites. A block of rooms with 2 queen beds has been reserved for contestants at a special rate of $75/night plus tax\, but only until May 14th.  This includes a hot breakfast buffet. Ask for ‘SCCA Car Rally’ to get this rate. \n\n\n\nSchedule: Check-in – 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday \n\n\n\nFirst Car Off – 8:31 AM  Saturday \n\n\n\nFirst Car Finished – Approx 5:30 pm \n\n\n\nCost:  $85/car for SCCA members\, $95/car if neither contestant is an SCCA member. Two people per car is required. \n\n\n\nPre-registration is required for this event. SUMMARY:CA: First Friday Niter Social Road Rally
DESCRIPTION:The October First Friday Niter\, coming up on October 7\, is being written by guest Rallymasters Revere Jones and Jared Leadbetter. The odometer check heads east on the 210 to Sunland. The rally travels up Big Tujunga Canyon to Angeles Forest and down Angeles Crest into La Canada-Flintridge\, where the rally then travels on and around Chevy Chase. About half of the legs have traps\, which means that about half don’t! The finish is at The Habit Burger\, 990 Town Center Drive\, La Canada-Flintridge. \n\n\n\nWe are using the Richta GPS Competitor app for timing and scoring\, with timing to the second. All checkpoints are listed in the route instructions\, with a Restart after each one. SUMMARY:CA: Cal Club Eureka Divisional Course Road Rally
DESCRIPTION:Eureka Road Rally is an SCCA Divisional Course Rally written by Jeanne English. It is a companion rally to ITN’s Thunder Road\, a Monte Carlo-style SCCA National Tour Rally written by Joe Akerman on Saturday\, October 15. Both are headquartered at the Hampton Inn in Arvin (Tejon Ranch)\, CA.  Registration for Eureka opens at 8:00A; route instructions are handed out at 8:30A plus your car number in minutes. Official start time is 9:00A plus your car number\, in minutes\, but once you receive your route instructions\, you are free to leave. \n\n\n\nFrom the start\, Eureka will head east to Stallion Springs (west of Tehachapi). Besides some fun roads\, the rally will visit the Tehachapi Loop and go through a covered bridge! The rally will be lightly trapped\, with Jeanne expecting most cars to do most legs correctly. You can run it using either the SCCA RRRs or SMSCC’s General Instructions\, there will be an addendum to help make that happen. \n\n\n\nThe rally will use the Richta GPS Competitor app for timing and scoring\, with timing to the second.   The maximum penalty for Eureka is 1 minute (60 seconds) per leg. SUMMARY:CA: SCCA Cal Club First Friday Niter Social RoadRally
DESCRIPTION:The SCCA Cal Club\, Santa Monica Sports Car Club Chapter\, continues their tradition of its First Friday Niter Series and begins the new year with Rallymaster Larry Scholnick. He describes his rally as “a trip around the rim of the Valley\, the San Fernando Valley.” It really does travel from place to place.  There are some traps on this rally\, but no more than one per leg (and not all legs have traps).  Trap values average about 30 seconds. FYI\, my favorite instruction on the rally is this one:  STRAIGHT(ish) at STOP. \n\n\n\nWe will be using the Richta GPS Competitor app for timing and scoring\, with timing in seconds. The max penalty this month is 120 seconds (2 minutes) per leg. All checkpoints are listed in the route instructions with a Restart after each checkpoint. This app is FREE and easy to use on any GPS-enabled smartphone. Go to the App Store or Google Play Store\, or https://richtarally.com/. SUMMARY:PA: Steel Haul Course Road Rally
DESCRIPTION:A sure sign of Spring is the Steel Haul Course and Tour Rallies sanctioned by the SCCA Steel Cities and Blue Ridge Mountain Sports Car Club; this year\, they take place over April 29-30th. Registration will occur Friday evening\, April 28th\, 6-9:00 PM\, in the Holiday Inn breakfast area. \n\n\n\nChuck Larouere will serve as Rallymaster for the Steel Haul Course Rally\, and Carl Staab will Rallymaster the Steel Haul Tour Rally. The rallies are eligible for the National Championships. \n\n\n\nThe Richta GPS Competitor will be used for scoring\, and all teams must have the App loaded on their smart device (phone or tablet) before Registration. \n\n\n\nRegistration is via paper\, and forms with payment shall be mailed to Registrar Rick Beattie\, 352 Woodside Road\, Pittsburgh\, PA 15221. SUMMARY:NY: Do It Again RoadRally
DESCRIPTION:The SCCA Finger Lakes Region invites you to join them for a little Spring Rally fun\, with its Do It Again RoadRally. It is a Social Rally and not apart of any series or serious points race. \n\n\n\nHere are the details: \n\n\n\n\nYou follow the course\, maintaining speeds below the posted speed limit.\n\n\n\nAs you follow the route\, you will be timed at locations unknown to you. All checkpoints will be closed (you do not stop at them.)\n\n\n\nThe course is approximately 31 miles and should take about 56 minutes to complete.\n\n\n\nTeams then repeat the course route at 2:00+car #.\n\n\n\nFor the second time around the route\, checkpoint signs will be out where the cars are timed again. The score will be how close the minute and hundredths is to the time you passed on the first loop (if you did it the first time\, you should be able to do it a second time\, right?)\n\n\n\nIf you take a TA on the second passage\, text it to the phone number on the routes with a mileage where it occurred. Once a TA is taken\, the TA time applies for the rest of the second loop.\n\n\n\nCars will have a window chalk or magnetic number on each side of the car so the checkpoint worker can identify the car as it passes.\n\n\n\nRoutes would be handed out to the teams at Registration\, at the event.\n\n\n\nThere will be a brief Driver’s meeting at 12:45\, before the event.\n\n\n\nThe results will be calculated after the event and also emailed to all competitors in case you have to leave.\,\n\n\n\nWe will do results at the finish as quickly as we can so we can share rally stories and enjoy some after event camaraderie.\n\n\n\n\nClasses:    Experienced (if any team member has done more than 5 rallies)    Novice (new to rally where neither team member has done more than 5 rallies) \n\n\n\nRegistration is online with MotorsportReg and you can click here for more information\, too. SUMMARY:CA: Highway Robbery National Course Rally
DESCRIPTION:Highway Robbery\, an SCCA National RoadRally Course Championship Rally\, will run on Saturday\, August 19th. It’s a course rally that will test your ability to stay on course and on time. The rally will run primarily in San Bernardino County. There will be no absence of the sign traps and no lettered instructions. There will be ITIS (If There Is Such) instructions and a sign Aristotle (as per SMSCC Generals). There will be variable main road determinants\, but no more than four at any time (often only two). In fact\, you can run Highway Robbery using the SMSCC General Instructions with a short addendum instead of the RRRs if you want to. These are mostly the same generals we used on previous Highway Robberies. Jeanne English\, Rallymaster\, expects most contestants to do most legs correctly.

SUMMARY:CA: Golden West 2023 Road Rally
DESCRIPTION:The SCCA San Francisco Region is returning to the SCCA National Course RoadRally Championship with its Golden West 2023 Road Rally on August 26th and Gold Rush National Tour Rally on Sunday\, August 27th. The Entry Fee for SCCA Members is $90 for each rally or $170 for the weekend. An SCCA Weekend Membership is available for an additional $15\, as may be needed by a team. All registrations will be handled through MotorsportsReg. General Instructions will be emailed on August 19th\, and all entries must be received by August 21st. \n\n\n\nAs of April 20th\, the tentative schedule: \n\n\n\nRegistration at Headquarters: Friday\, August 25th\, 5:00-7:30 PM \n\n\n\nSaturday Schedule is for Car #1 to receive the Route Instructions at 8:01 AM with an 8:30 AM departure. Teams will gather at Skipolini’s Pizza\, Folsom\, CA\, ±4:45 PM. \n\n\n\nThe Golden West 2023 National Course Rally will be a scenic 190-mile rally through the foothills and Mother Lode Mining Areas southeast of Sacramento. It will be a challenging event designed for experienced rallyists familiar with SCCA RoadRally Rules and will use both Lettered and Numbered instructions and changing MRDs (Main Road Determinants). Yet the course is also easy to follow for a Novice teams with all paved roads and no special equipment or math skills required.  \n\n\n\nRallymaster Andy Stocker encourages rallyists to compete in the two National Championship RoadRally events by Cal Club Region and the Santa Monica Sports Car Club the prior weekend\, August 19th and 20th\, and then spend several days heading north along the amazing California coastline. Visit places like the Getty Museum\, Santa Barbara\, Hearst’s Castle\, Big Sur\, Carmel\, Monterey Bay Aquarium\, Santa Cruz\, Bodega Bay\, Napa Valley Wineries\, and more! Then finish with the SCCA San Francisco Region’s two Sacramento rallies – Golden West 2023 National Course Rally and the Gold Rush National Tour Rally. \n\n\n\nEntrants must have the Richta GPS Competitor App installed on their phones (available for free for iOS/Android)\, as the event will use the Richta GPS Competitor App for scoring. \n\n\n\nStay tuned for more details!
