SUMMARY:TX to CA: The 4th Trans-America
DESCRIPTION:America is a land intrinsically linked with the automobile\, and whilst the United States cannot lay a claim to being the ones that invented the contraption that we are all obsessed with\, thanks to the likes of Ford and Durant et al. the motor car became something that would touch the lives of many and not just a few. It is a country that has inspired many\, with its tall tales\, cities that reach up to the heavens\, huge landscapes and its all-encompassing skies. There is a long tradition of travel and a pull to enjoy life on the road\, whether that be mounted on a Hog on Route 66\, cruising in a Cadillac on the road to nowhere on Highway 3 or following in the footsteps of Kerouac\, Moriarty and Ginsberg\, on the road is very much a way of life. \n\n\n\nOur own On the Road adventure will take us from Houston to San Francisco\, on a route that heads almost all the way north to the Canadian border and then back down to the ‘city by the bay.’ As always\, with our adventures\, the route will take us on roads less travelled and whilst to see America is to cruise the freeways and highways\, the roads that beckon those who choose to take on this trip will be an altogether less straight forward affair\, giving us all the pleasure of seeing an America that many eyes never get to see. As Kerouac himself said\, “There is nowhere to go\, but everywhere.” \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOver 21 days and thousands of miles our adventure will find our America\, it will introduce us to a land of contrasts\, some expected and some unexpected. Cowboy territory and the great plains will give way to the Rocky Mountains and high altitude passes\, as well as tumultuous river crossings as we forge our own route across the great divide. Gravel roads will often be our friends\, as we retrace the footsteps of the first pioneers that crossed these great lands\, national parks will be our solace against the dust of the plains and deserts\, offering a luscious oasis of green flora amongst fast flowing rivers and spectacular wildlife. For those with a head for heights the mighty Teton range will leave us breathless\, and the venerable and ancient trees of the Klamath Forest will leave us humbled. \n\n\n\nThe event is open for vintage and cars built before 1948 and for Classic cars of a type built before 1986. Cars of a later date but unchanged mechanical specification will be considered at the Organisers’ discretion. Classes based on engine size will subdivide these categories. \n\n\n\nThe event is suitable for both novice and more experienced crews. Many roads are good tarmac and gravel\, with competition on more remote roads\, private land or race circuits. An easy to follow tulip route book will be supplied. Our experienced team of officials will be at your disposal at all times to support you and we will provide hints and tips on navigation. \n\n\n\nWho can participate?\n\n\n\nThe event is open for vintage and cars built before 1948 and for Classic cars of a type built before 1986. SUMMARY:PERU: Lima to Cape Horn 2022
DESCRIPTION:Lima to Cape Horn 2022\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis event was first listed in 2021 and amended to 2022\, and we have not updated the following for this event. We will\, yet we wanted to give you a heads-up. \n\n\n\nStarting at sea level in Lima\, Peru\, only six days later\, we will sleep at over 3\,600 metres in La Paz\, the Bolivian capital. The salt flats of Bolivia and northwestern Argentina will give way to the green vineyards of Mendoza. Following the Andes south\, we enter the breathtaking lake district around Bariloche before making our way into Chile\, where the days will get decidedly cooler as the scenery becomes ever more dramatic. Glaciers and deep blue lakes surrounded by snow-peaked mountains will abound before we finally enter magical Patagonia\, where our destination is the city at the end of the earth\, Ushuaia. \n\n\n\nOur route designers have searched for the finest roads this continent can supply. At the same time\, the entire ERA team will provide the mechanical\, medical\, and logistical support for which the organisation is world-famous. Join us on this fantastic and challenging adventure… rally with us to the end of the world! \n\n\n\nFurther Information will be available soon… \n\n\n\nWho can participate?\n\n\n\nThe event is open for vintage cars built before 1948 and for Classic cars of a type built before 1975. Cars of a later date\, but unchanged mechanical specification\, will be considered at the Organisers’ discretion. SUMMARY:NH: Great American Mountain Rallye Revival
DESCRIPTION:History of the Original Great American Mountain Rallye 1953-1957 \n\n\n\nThe flag dropped on the first GAMR on Thanksgiving Day of 1953\, and the rally continued every November through 1957. Described in the April 1956 issue of Auto Age as “America’s longest\, toughest\, and coldest rallye\,” the races attracted driving teams from across America\, Europe\, and Scandinavia. Conducted the weekend of American Thanksgiving\, the rally typically featured challenging snowy weather through New York’s Adirondack\, New Hampshire’s White\, and Vermont’s Green Mountains. Tire chains were an absolute must! \n\n\n\nIn its day\, the Great American Mountain Rallye attracted top teams from around the world. The Rootes Team entered Sheila van Damm in 1953 and 1954. The late great Stirling Moss also competed in this rally in 1954. The great Maurice Gastonides\, the 1953 Monte Carlo Rally winner\, was also a competitor. One year\, the official starter was multi-time world driving champion Juan Manuel Fangio. \n\n\n\nThis year will be the fourth running of the “Revival.” Our first three years were huge successes\, and we plan for this year to be as good or better than last! \n\n\n\nGAMRR 2022 \n\n\n\nGAMRR is a hybrid rally incorporating a “Tour” and a Regularity Rally traversing approximately 400 miles. There will be a course to follow through the New Hampshire Lakes Region\, the White Mountains\, and Maine utilizing written (NRIs) and Tulip instructions and a short map-reading section. The Great American Mountain Rallye is well suited for inexperienced and veteran rallyists alike.  \n\n\n\nJoin the GAMRR mailing list to learn the latest details\, and we’ll be updating details here by June 1st. Please reach out to Rallymaster Gary Hamilton and check out the GAMR web page and Facebook for previous event coverage and the Great American Mountain Rallye news.

SUMMARY:AZ: 28th Annual Copperstate 1000
DESCRIPTION:The Copperstate 1000 is one of the premier vintage car road rallies in North America. The Men’s Arts Council (MAC) created the event in 1990 as a fundraiser for Phoenix Art Museum\, and this event continues to set the benchmark for excellence. The finest vintage automobiles in the world have graced the scenic highways of Arizona during this annual four-day event.\nThis annual event celebrates the automotive cultural legacy by featuring some of the finest working examples of vintage\, sports\, racing\, classic\, and grand touring automobiles manufactured before the 1974 model year. \nEach year\, a new route covers 1\,000 miles of beautiful desert terrain\, verdant river valley\, and alpine landscape throughout Arizona and beyond. Approximately 80 qualifying vintage automobiles with drivers and co-drivers from all over the United States\, Canada\, Mexico\, and Europe. The relationships that are made during these rallies often develop into lifelong friendships. Many participants return year after year. \nThe collector car hobby continues to thrive into a lifestyle as more collectors are driving and enjoying their vintage automobiles. The Bell Lexus North Scottsdale Copperstate 1000 epitomizes such a lifestyle event. It allows participants to enjoy four fully catered days of glorious driving with fellow enthusiasts while having only the sheer exhilaration of the open road to contend with as all the details have been handled by our more than capable staff – from luxury accommodations to fully catered meals\, parking lot hospitality parties and a U-Haul sponsored luggage truck\, the MAC crew thinks of everything. Copperstate’s team of mechanics and professional tow drivers is also on hand to provide any roadside assistance. \nCheck out this video from the 2017 COPPERSTATE 1000: \n2017 COPPERSTATE 1000
