SUMMARY:PA: Choose Your Own Citrus Road Rally\, Part II Revenge of the Stone Fruit
DESCRIPTION:Inspired by the nationally-known (but in no way affiliated) Lemons Rally\, the Choose Your Own Citrus Road Rally\, Part II Revenge of the Stone Fruit is designed to provide an enjoyable drive through the countryside while conducting a Scavenger Hunt. This “Rally” is a social event and is not based on accurate time and distance – in fact\, each team picks their own route to maximize points the way that suits each team the best. Scoring is based on the ability of the team to use clues to find target locations\, while leaving enough time to finding their own way to the finish location in the allotted time frame. Each team will be provided with a packet with rules and instructions on how to post pictures on Instagram to mark way-points and collect points. Someone on your team needs an Instagram account for your team to get points! This is a great opportunity to get younger family members involved in a driving activity. This event will take place rain or shine. Only extreme weather conditions warrant cancellation. \n\n\n\nA Road Rally is not a race! OBEY ALL TRAFFIC LAWS. The roads are challenging\, sharp curves\, steep climbs and wildlife crossings all combined with an unknown route. The driver and navigator must work together to stay alert while looking for clues. Speed does not improve the score. Bring water for the team\, and fuel up when you can there isn’t any sweep car…it’s up to the team to make it back \n\n\n\nEvent requirements\n\n\n\nREGISTRATION \n\n\n\nRegister here for $45. All licensed drivers are welcome to participate! Once registered\, make sure that your name shows up on the entry list to confirm your entry.  Walk-ups will NOT be accepted. An SCCA membership is required for insurance purposes. For all drivers that are not annual SCCA members\, weekend memberships are required and can be purchased during online registration. All passengers that are non-SCCA members will have to sign up for a trial membership at no additional cost. We will have trial membership form on site.  \n\n\n\nEVENT OVERVIEW \n\n\n\nThis is a GTA/Social Road Rally. There are no points towards any championship. \n\n\n\nThere are many variations of Road Rally—this is a “social” rally\, which does not require participants to track time and accurate distance. Instead\, each vehicle has a navigator who will read directions and figure out the best route\, and the driver will follow the instructions. The goal is to drive and find the best route to maximize points. At the end of the rally\, there will be a small award ceremony where winners will be announced. \n\n\n\nThe intention is to have a pleasant Saturday drive\, following the speed limits and all local laws. Enjoy yourself\, enjoy the view and spot some random stuff \n\n\n\nAdditional Notes of Importance: \n\n\n\n\nThe official instructions will be provided at the check-in at on-site registration; you get to determine your own route.\n\n\n\nEach team should have a pencil or pen (and perhaps a clip board) to record stuff and things at this event.\n\n\n\nVehicles will depart the start point at after the driver meeting.\n\n\n\nEach team will need an Instagram account\n\n\n\nThere will be no checkpoints along the route to verify that participants are on the correct route.\n\n\n\nWarning: don’t play follow the leader! Or do\, the other team could be doing something dumb.\n\n\n\nEach car/team will need a mascot that must be included in all photographs/Instagram posts of way-points/checkpoints for scoring purposes\n\n\n\nMascot should be a handheld item to represent the team\n\n\n\nEach team should bring a Hot Wheels or Matchbox car for the judges (it could help your score).\n\n\n\nThis is NOT a race; ALL traffic laws must be followed.\n\n\n\nSpeeding ticket will disqualify you from this event.\n\n\n\n\nREQUIREMENTS \n\n\n\nYou must show your valid driver’s license. If you are not an SCCA member\, a weekend membership form must be completed via MotorsportReg.com for $15. Other team members/navigators that are not SCCA members will need to fill out a trial membership form on site \n\n\n\nDriver qualifications:  \n\n\n\n\nA valid driver’s license and a car\n\n\n\nCapable of listening to the navigator or team or pack of wolves and remembering what they were told about why they are driving around South Central PA\n\n\n\n\nTeam qualifications: \n\n\n\n\nSome organizational ability (to handle the paperwork and keep track of route instructions)\n\n\n\nNot prone to motion sickness while reading in the car (if you do get motion sick\, taking medicine prior to the event often allows you to still enjoy the event)\n\n\n\nAbility to post to Instagram\n\n\n\nSome light googling\n\n\n\n\nNotes: \n\n\n\n\nNumber of passengers in the vehicle must not exceed the legal passenger capacity for the vehicle.\n\n\n\n\nEVENT VENUE AND TIMETABLE \n\n\n\nCheck-in: Hickory Bridge Restaurant \n\n\n\n\n9:30AM: Registration opens\n\n\n\n10:00AM: Registration closes and Driver’s meeting\n\n\n\n10:15ishAM: Vehicles begin rally\n\n\n\n3:30PM: Finish Location \n\n\n\n4:00PM: Sharing of food and tall tales of the road  \n\n\n\n5:00PM (or earlier): Results and award ceremony\n\n\n\n6:00PM (or earlier) Please help tear down and clean up!\n\n\n\n\nFinal Destination: will be in the rally packet  \n\n\n\nGeneral Scoring Tips \n\n\n\nThese things could help you points \n\n\n\n\nthemes (costume for you or your car)\n\n\n\nsafe\, legal wackiness that makes the judges laugh

SUMMARY:TX: Come and Take It Road Rally
DESCRIPTION:The Lone Star Region of the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) would like to invite you to join us for the Come and Take It Road Rally. This rally is to honor the 32 Texican volunteers who left Gonzales on 27 February 1836 for the Alamo during the Texas Revolution. Two days later the detachment entered the Alamo which was commanded by William Barrett Travis and Jame Bowie. Except of Travis’s boyhood friend\, James B. Bonham\, who arrived later that day\, these heroes were the last men to enter the Alamo before it was over whelmed by Mexican forces under President/General Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna on March 6 and all of the defenders were killed. This road rally will follow the approximate path of these doomed men from Gonzales to San Antonio (Bexar) but in reverse. \n\n\n\nOn the day of the event\, 25 February 2023\, participants will meet at Dellcrest Plaza in southeast San Antonio at 1:00 PM. After completing a safety briefing\, the rally will began the 90 minute rally at 2:01 PM. The route will visit Martinez\, New Berlin before skirting Seguin and entering Gonzales from the south. The destination is the Gonzales Food Market on Hero’s Square in Gonzales where the group will sample the award winning BBQ and discuss more local history before voting on awards. \n\n\n\nEarly Registration will be through MotorsportReg.com. The price is $25.00 per car regardless of the number of occupants. Children are welcomed but insurance requires that minor children\, under 18\, must have an SCCA Minor Waiver signed by both parents. Each car must have a Driver and a Navigator and each car must have a current inspection sticker and proof of insurance. People who register through MotorsportReg.comwill find the waiver form (must be printed it in color) and may pay online. SUMMARY:TX: Sweetheart Ride Road Rally
DESCRIPTION:The Texas Region of the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) invites you to join us for Jerry White’s annual Valentine’s Day-themed Sweetheart Ride Road Rally. It will be about a 90-mile drive on some of the scenic hard surfaced country roads in Johnson and Ellis Counties. All are welcome and no prior rally experience is necessary. \n\n\n\nThe challenge is to see how many correct puzzle solutions (many with a sweetheart theme) you can find based on signs and objects along the rally route. Puzzles can have from zero (0) to four (4) correct solutions. Think of it as a visual scavenger hunt. Google Forms will be used to display the route instructions and puzzles and to collect and score you and your sweetheart’s/navigator’s solutions. To use a Google Form you will need a browser on a smartphone\, tablet or laptop computer that can connect to the Internet via Wi-Fi or cellular data. In addition\, you will need a separate smartphone to run the Richta GPS Competitor app. It will use GPS signals to monitor your time and course and to tell you when to stop working on a puzzle and/or when to prepare to do the next route instruction.  \n\n\n\nYou should also participate in the February 11th Zoom Rally School (or watch the recording of it) and visit roadrally.page to help prepare for the rally.  \n\n\n\n\nAwards: First Timers\, Novices (every person in the vehicle has won 2 or less rally trophies)\, and General Class. SUMMARY:NJ: SCCA Northern New Jersey 32nd Teddy Bear Rally

Over $27\,500 in toys have been donated to the United States Marine Corp Reserve toy drive since the 1st Teddy Bear Rally in 1990. SCCA-NNJR’s Toys for Tots Roadrally is the longest continually run charity event conducted by SCCA. \n\n\n\nThis year’s event will be 55 miles and be a two-and-a-half-hour novice-orientated rally. It will utilize written instructions and photo clues to determine the trophy winners. \n\n\n\nThis is not a timed event. SUMMARY:TX: Texas Region Sasha's Children's Book Run Rally
DESCRIPTION:Join the SCCA Texas Region as we close our 2022 Rally season\, supporting a good cause while honoring Sasha Lanz! The Texas Region of the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) cordially invites all fellow car enthusiasts to Sasha’s Children’s Book Run Rally\, a Trek rally benefiting the Scottish Rite for Children\, one of the nation’s leading pediatric orthopedic centers. All are welcome\, and no prior rally experience is necessary. \n\n\n\nA bit of history: Sasha Lanz was instrumental in building a successful RoadRally program in the SCCA Texas Region and leading it for many years. One of his favorite events was the Children’s Book Run. Entrants were asked to donate two children’s books\, gathered at check-in on Rally Day. Over the six years\, we have held the rally\, hundreds of books were donated to Sottish Rite!  We would like to keep this tradition alive and conduct a Children’s Book Run in his name every year.    \n\n\n\nThis year we plan to conduct the event again as a Trek\, a non-competitive driving event on scenic country roads. No questions\, puzzles\, tricks or traps\, or timed controls\, just a fun drive following a pre-determined route in Collin\, Grayson\, and Denton counties using a “convoy style” format – and a bit of trivia: we’ll pass through 7 towns named after women. We’ll provide basic route instructions as a backup only. Weather permitting\, we’ll stop at one or two places of interest for a group picture. \n\n\n\nEach person in the car is asked to contribute two NEW books for the patients at Scottish Rite. They need books for all ages – 5 through 16 – including Look-and-Find books\, board books\, chapter books\, Spanish-language books\, etc. We will collect the books at registration/check-in. \n\n\n\nWe encourage you to pre-register via this link at Motorsportreg\, where you will find important registration and event details. This helps us plan and have ample copies of the route instructions\, too! \n\n\n\nRegistration/check-in on-site will be open from 10:15 am to 10:45 am\, with a Rally Day Safety Briefing at 10:50 am. Teams leave the start after 11:00 am for the approximately three-hour drive covering 110 miles of countryside.

SUMMARY:PA: Ghost Tracks GTA Rally
DESCRIPTION:The Ghost Tracks GTA Rally is sanctioned by the SCCA Allegheny Highlands Sports Car Club and was upgraded to a National GTA Rally. \n\n\n\nGhost Tracks is a shortest-distance rally\, an untimed RoadRally following an undefined route. Instead of the usual route instructions and timing controls\, contestants are given a map and a list of waypoints to be visited. Contestants receive penalty points for each 0.10 mile traversed during the rally. Thus\, the goal is to visit all the required sites (waypoints) in the allotted time while traversing the shortest distance possible. These waypoints may be visited in any order of your choosing after leaving the start control and before you arrive at the finish control. Unlimited use of additional maps\, GPS\, Waze\, etc.\, is permitted. \n\n\n\nThe available roads are all public roads in and bordering Indiana County\, PA. Typical fall foliage and scenery should be superb as you travel on many roads most of you will have never seen before. Each team (minimum of two people) will use their maps and waypoint list to plot a course and may drive at whatever legal speeds are comfortable for them. Six hours are allotted to complete the rally\, but it should take less time. Awards for best overall finishing position(s) and best finishing position of any team with no prior experience with the shortest distance rally. \n\n\n\nIf you prefer a shorter version\, please consider our As The Crow Flies on the same day. Register for Ghost Tracks at Motorsportreg today and try this rally style. \n\n\n\nEntrants can approach the waypoint from any direction and be assured that the transponder provided by the Rally Committee will confirm their arrival at the waypoint. Mileage will be zeroed at the Start Control and frozen at the Finish Control\, having accumulated all of the mileage the transponder has traversed. This total mileage will be the final score after adding a penalty of fifteen miles for each waypoint not attained if applicable. The shortest distance wins. \n\n\n\nThis will be the first of its kind and requires no equipment\, not even a cell phone. The rally is intended to be a model for other Regions to host a rally that requires minimal effort on the part of a Rally Committee. Rallymaster Bruce Gezon strongly believes that the format may become a preferred rally type.

SUMMARY:PA: Catch 22 - Puzzles and Conundrums
DESCRIPTION:Update October 20th — Fifty-six teams and two buses puzzled their way through some of Adams County most beautiful roads on Saturday\, October 15. A great time was had by all as we drove past 19 preserved properties over 48 miles\, and competed and learned at three fun-filled stops. The Land Conservancy of Adams County has already set Saturday\, October 21st\, 2023 for their 25th Anniversary edition next year.  \n\n\n\n√. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEach year the Land Conservancy of Adams County organizes a Road Rally over lesser-traveled routes in the region. This year\, the 24th Annual Land Conservancy Fall Classic Road Rally\, features a meandering drive through rural Adams County\, highlighting vistas and scenic roads that showcase our beautiful countryside. \n\n\n\nOn October 15\, Road Rally teams will be delighted and confused as they meander through Adams County on roads less traveled. Teams will be challenged with paradoxical situations with no apparent way out. It’s a logical conundrum where circumstances feed each other and bring you back to square 1. \n\n\n\nWhat came first the chicken or the egg? \n\n\n\n Catch 22 – Puzzles and Conundrums is a fundraiser for LCAC that often leaves participants amazed and with a newfound appreciation for the landscape around us.

SUMMARY:TX: Back-to-Basics RoadRally Series #4 - Roads and Intersections
DESCRIPTION:In 2022\, in addition to rallies that we have put on regularly in recent years (e.g.\, Sweetheart Ride\, Tick-Tock\, DFW Map\, Children’s Book Run)\, the Texas Region of the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) will be conducting a series of road rallies and schools. \n\n\n\nThe Region is designing these to introduce rallying to newcomers and refresh and reinforce key concepts for our more experienced rallyists. This “Back-to-Basics” series will consist of four events of progressive challenge levels staged over several months. These will be SCCA GTA (Games\, Tours\, Adventures) Social Rallies\, about 45-60 miles and 2 ½ – 3 hours long. We will score them and present awards to the most successful. The objective is to conduct events in accordance with the SCCA RoadRally Rules\, starting with simple rules and instructions. Then each succeeding rally will introduce more advanced topics. \n\n\n\nThere will be a virtual Road Rally School\, six days before each rally\, where we will present the rules and instructions for that rally\, demonstrate “how-to\,” and go through applicable examples. Liz Witt\, Rallymaster for the four B2B rallies\, will be your lead instructor. \n\n\n\nThe tentative schedule for the Back-to-Basics (B2B) events is as follows: \n\n\n\nB2B #1 – Focus on General Instructions\, Route Instructions\, Questions• Rally School (via Zoom session): January 9th• Rally: January 15th – Did You SEE That? \n\n\n\nB2B #2 – Focus on Signs and Landmarks• Rally School (via Zoom session): March 13th• Rally: March 19th \n\n\n\nB2B#3 – Focus on Main Road Concepts• Rally School (via Zoom session): May 1st• Rally: May 7th \n\n\n\nB2B#4 – Focus on Roads and Intersections• Rally School (via Zoom session): May 29th• Rally: June 4th \n\n\n\nThe Rally Schools will be conducted via Zoom and recorded for later on-demand viewing. After each rally\, a packet of materials (General Instructions\, Route Instructions\, Question and Answer Sheet\, Explanation/Critique Sheets) will be made available. This way\, if you miss any of the rallies or schools or only become aware of our program part of the way into the year\, you can watch the recording(s) and run the rally(ies) at your convenience (not scored) to get up to speed on covered skills and concepts. \n\n\n\nThe Back-to-Basics Series will help prepare you for a “course-following” (aka\, trap) rally. We plan to conduct a National or Divisional GTA rally in the Fall\, a perfect opportunity for putting what you learned into practice! \n\n\n\nHead over to Motorsportreg for more information and register today!
