DESCRIPTION:In 2022\, in addition to rallies that we have put on regularly in recent years (e.g.\, Sweetheart Ride\, Tick-Tock\, DFW Map\, Children’s Book Run)\, the Texas Region of the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) will be conducting a series of road rallies and schools.  \n\n\n\nThe Region is designing these to introduce rallying to newcomers and refresh and reinforce key concepts for our more experienced rallyists. This “Back-to-Basics” series will consist of four events of progressive challenge levels staged over several months. These will be SCCA GTA (Games\, Tours\, Adventures) Social Rallies\, about 45-60 miles and 2 ½ – 3 hours long. We will score them and present awards to the most successful. The objective is to conduct events in accordance with the SCCA RoadRally Rules\, starting with simple rules and instructions. Then each succeeding rally will introduce more advanced topics. \n\n\n\nThere will be a virtual Road Rally School\, six days before each rally\, where we will present the rules and instructions for that rally\, demonstrate “how-to\,” and go through applicable examples. DESCRIPTION:The Texas Region of the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) invites you to join us at Logan’s Roadhouse for Jerry White’s annual Valentine’s Day-themed road rally. It will be about a 90-mile drive on some of the scenic hard surfaced country roads in the Brazos River Valley in Parker\, Hood\, and Palo Pinto Counties. No prior rally experience or SCCA membership is necessary. \n\n\n\nThe challenge is to see how many correct puzzle solutions (many with a sweetheart theme) you can find based on signs and objects along the rally route. Puzzles can have from zero (0) to four (4) correct solutions. One (1) penalty point is awarded for each findable puzzle solution you miss marking as found and one (1) is awarded for each solution you mark as found when it didn’t exist or in some way was not a correct solution. Low score wins. There will never be more than one puzzle active at a time. Think of it as a visual scavenger hunt. \n\n\n\nGoogle Forms will be used to display the route instructions and puzzles and to collect and score you and your sweetheart’s/navigator’s solutions. To use a Google Form\, you will need a browser on a smartphone\, tablet\, or laptop computer to connect to the Internet via Wi-Fi or cellular data.  \n\n\n\nIn addition\, you will need a separate smartphone to run the Richta GPS Competitor app. It will use GPS signals and a minor amount of cellular data to monitor your time and course and tell you when to stop working on a puzzle and/or prepare to do the next route instruction. SUMMARY:LA: Red River Region Gimmick Road Rally
DESCRIPTION:Do you want to do something fun with your car that doesn’t involve speed and won’t cost you much money? For the first time in over a decade\, the Red River Region is holding a road rally. Mark your calendars for Sunday\, February 20th. We’ll gather at the old VF Outlets Mall in Arcadia at 9:00 am. \n\n\n\nAs long as it’s registered\, licensed\, and road-worthy\, any vehicle may be used. Each team must have at least a Driver and a Navigator. One of them must be an SCCA member — either an Annual Member or a Weekend Member\, and everyone else in the vehicle needs to be at least a Trial Member. You’ll need to show your Driver’s license and proof of insurance at Registration. You’ll also need something to write with and a clipboard or some other solid object to use as a ‘desk.’ \n\n\n\nA rally is a non-speed event\, driven on regular roads and obeying all traffic laws. The object is to see how close you can follow directions and how well you can answer questions along the way. You’ll be assigned a number at Registration\, and your starting mileage will be recorded.  \n\n\n\nFollowing a short Drivers’ meeting\, at which you’ll be given the route directions\, you’ll be sent out at two-minute intervals. Your starting time will be recorded. When you return\, your arrival time and ending mileage will be recorded. You’ll also turn in your answer sheet.This will be a very simple ‘gimmick’ rally designed to introduce you to rallying and see if there’s enough interest and participation to re-start the active rally program that we used to have. It’s a great way to have some fun with your car when we’re not autocrossing.Entry fees: $10 for SCCA Members and $20 for Weekend Members

DESCRIPTION:To initiate the 2021 Christmas season and to assist people to get out of the house after this past year\, the Lone Star Region of SCCA is sponsoring a Christmas Tree Social Road Rally to the Seiler Christmas Tree Farm south of Seguin. This rally will start from Bluebonnet Jeep on Interstate 35 East in New Braunfels and will wind through south Central Texas to the Tree Farm.  \n\n\n\nAlong the way\, we will travel on state\, rural\, and country roads. These roads are paved but many do not have center stripes. This is a non-speed event but you will be given historical notes along the route and you will be asked to answer questions about the route at various points. At the Seiler Christmas Tree Farm\, you may buy the Christmas tree of your choice or just enjoy the scenery. Trees are four to nine feet in height and sell for $6.00 per foot. The Rally will then leave the tree farm and continue to Kirby’s Korner in Sequin to enjoy their famous burgers and malts and to discuss cars and the rally. \n\n\n\nThis is a non-speed social Road Rally whose route will be along paved roads although some have not been paved very recently. Registration between 1:00 and 2:00 PM will be at Bluebonnet Jeep so come early and look over their fine vehicles. After a safety briefing at 1:45\, cars will be released at intervals to proceed on their scenic journey. It should take between 90 minutes and two hours for this Road Rally as you learn about the history of Central Texas. Questions will be asked along the way but awards will not be based on questions or on a car’s finish position.  \n\n\n\nThis Road Rally is meant to be a fun social outing and a learning event. Children are welcome but insurance requires that they have a waiver signed by both parents. On some of the best rally roads around\, mainly in Collin County. And Texas is usually beautiful in October. \n\n\n\nONTO Fall National Course Rally: Saturday will be a 180-mile course-following rally through the countryside on rural Texas’ beautiful\, paved roads. And with a grand tour of the town of Farmersville\, home of Audie Murphy. Designed for the experienced rallyist\, it will have variable Main Road Rule priorities\, and both numbered and lettered Route Instructions. Additionally\, some of the numbered instructions will have a choice of actions. Speeds will be moderate with the generous use of Free Zones. The Richta app will time you. \n\n\n\nONTO Fall National GTA Rally: The Saturday GTA Rally is also course-following and has many of the same traps as the Course Rally. But it has no lettered instructions\, so many of the traps are implemented differently. DESCRIPTION:It’s time for another CATS Rally. This year it is a charity rally benefiting the Westmoreland Land Trust\, and the SCCA Steel Cities Region sanctions the event. Starting in Greensburg\, PA\, the 66-mile rally will run through beautiful fall foliage enveloped scenic roads in the Laurel Highlands as you attempt to find the correct answer to Rallymaster Bruce Gezon’s often devious questions. Complimentary breakfast items will be available at the registration barn. Members of the Laurel Highlands British Car Club will display their cars before the start of the rally. Following the mid-afternoon finish\, you will find food trucks for your pleasure while results are being tabulated. The local folk music group\, The NewLanders\, will provide entertainment. \n\n\n\nAwards will be presented to both Experienced and Inexperienced teams. You will need to decide which category you fall in and register accordingly. Marque awards will also be presented\, donated by some of our sponsors. DESCRIPTION:The SCCA New England Region’s Cape Cod Courageous GTA Road Rally\, the “scavenger hunt” of Cape Cod is a low-pressure event. You will be supplied with a map and clues to locations all over the Cape.The object is to determine from the clues where these locations are on the map\, plan the shortest route to those locations and\, once at the location\, answer the question(s)\, and do so driving the fewest miles possible. Each two person team chooses its own pace.The distance traveled will be at least 120 miles. Above all it is hoped that you will have FUN and maybe learn some things about the Cape. \n\n\n\nCheck-In/Registration:  Saturday\, October 16\, in the parking lot at the rear of the International House of Pancakes (IHOP) in Hyannis\, MA\, between 730 and 930 AM. After completing check-in/registration and the odometer check\, you will receive your map and clues\, at which point you can begin the rally. \n\n\n\nEntry fee: $50.00 for SCCA members and past Old Timers’ Rally participants\, if received by October 9\, 2021.(Note: NO entries the day of the rally). $60.00 for non-SCCA members\, non-past participants\, and all late entries. Please allow enough time for us to receive mail entries no later than October 14\, 2021\, as we will not have access to postal mail after that date. \n\n\n\nNote: Rally teams usually consist of one driver and one navigator. DESCRIPTION:The Cedar Mountain Rotary is planning their Inaugural Road Rally for Saturday\, Oct. 9\, as part of a fundraiser for Rise & Shine.  \n\n\n\nThe objective of the rally is for a team of two\, a driver and a navigator\, to use a set of clues to reach designated points of interest in Transylvania County and Pickens County. The date was selected to take advantage of the scenic beauty of the area in the fall season. Those taking part will be asked to answer questions in the clues and take pictures of the designated points to score “points.” It is much like a scavenger hunt but on wheels.  \n\n\n\nThe starting and ending points will be at Oskar Blues Brewery\, with rally teams being sent out in two directions over the same course. We will award the teams with the most points prizes at the end. DESCRIPTION:Steel Cities Region\, SCCA\, as part of this year’s End of Summer Showcase\, will stage the Monopoly III Road Rally on Saturday\, August 28\, 2021.  \n\n\n\nThe 60 mile\, approximately 3 hour afternoon event will start and finish at Pitt Race\, the Pittsburgh International Race Complex\, in Wampum\, PA\, just off the PA Turnpike\, Beaver Valley Exit 13\, 45 miles north of Pittsburgh\, PA.  \n\n\n\nLike similar Sports Car Club of America Road Rally events\, this one will use paved\, public\, lightly traveled country roads. Road Rally is not a race. You will travel below the speed limit searching for the correct signs to move around a Monopoly game board. The winning team will be the one who comes closest to the correct trip around that board. This event will wind its way through tall forests\, past large farms and small towns.  \n\n\n\nNo rally experience is necessary but you will need a street-legal car\, a Driver\, and a Navigator. DESCRIPTION:San Antonio has had more battles fought within its city limits than any other town in North America. These battles occurred while San Antonio was under the jurisdiction of Spain\, the Republic of Mexico\, the Republic of Texas\, and the United States. This Road Rally will take you to the approximate location of each site; however\, the exact location of some of the sites is not known\, and other sites ranged over several miles. If you want a more detailed investigation of any site\, you are encouraged to revisit site(s) on your own and at your convenience. The oldest two sites date from 1813\, and the latest site dates from the 1870s. \n\n\n\nThis is a non-speed social Road Rally whose route will be along city streets\, and speed bumps may be an issue for some cars. We will start on the west side of San Antonio\, proceed to the far south side\, and then complete our tour just north of downtown. It should take between 90 minutes and two hours for this Road Rally as you learn about the history of San Antonio.  Questions will be asked along the way\, but awards will not be based on questions or a car’s finish position. This Road Rally is meant to be a fun social outing and learning event. DESCRIPTION:Join us for an afternoon of Dashing thru Northern Hamilton County from Fairfield to Mt. Healthy to New Baltimore\, along city streets and county roads on the Delusional Drive to Daly Rd Road Rally. This is an easy\, fun rally of 100 miles\, and as many questions to keep you and your Navigator awake searching for the clues to the answers. There will also be a set of EZ Instructions for those who would rather just enjoy the drive. The search is on for Daly Rd. When you see it\, you’ll need to mark it down for extra points\, or should I say for extra credit\, as the idea is to have the least number of points\, not the most. We should finish up starting about 2:30\, meeting afterward for food and beverages and scoring at Rick’s Tavern next door. \n\n\n\nPre-registration is strongly encouraged to ensure a place and to facilitate social distancing at on-site check-in. The cost for the event is $30\, with a discount available if at least one person in the car is a current SCCA member. \n\n\n\nA road rally is traversed over public roads within the legal speed limit. This is a GTA aka Game/Tour/Adventure Rally\, with no calculations necessary. The challenge is to follow the route and answer as many questions as possible. The Rally Master is Jim Knepper. \n\n\n\nChoose your option for this event and sign up for one of these options: \n\n\n\n(1) the competitive route instructions will include questions to be answered in order to score and determine the winner. The points earned will be counted for the Regional Championship. Some of the route directions will require some decision-making\, but there are no intentional traps.  \n\n\n\n(2) or if you prefer to join us for a fun drive with no scoring or prizes\, you can choose the Drive Instructions. DESCRIPTION:Looking to escape the rigors and isolation of Covid-19 for a bit? The Niagara County Historical Society is hosting their first ever NCHS Road Rally fundraiser on June 12\, 2021. The entry fee is a $50.00 donation to the Society per vehicle\, and a driver and at least one crewmember is required\, but you can add more\, as long as you finish with everyone who started.  \n\n\n\nUnlike the Memorial Day Indianapolis 500\, our Rally is NOT a race but a contest that will test driving skills\, knowledge\, powers of observation\, memory and the ability to do simple calculations while maneuvering your vehicle across a timed course over the roads of Niagara County.  \n\n\n\nParticipating vehicles will be given departure times between 9:00 AM and 1:00 PM\, route instructions and a sealed envelope containing the Rally end point\, just in case you get hopelessly lost.  Participants will not have to leave their vehicle for anything. The drive will take approximately 2 hours. \n\n\n\nThe “fun” doesn’t end with just the leisurely drive through the country\, your team will also be tasked with decrypting clues\, identifying landmarks\, and recording information as you travel along the route.  On your arrival at the destination\, you will turn in your driving log with your recorded information for scoring. For timing concerns\, much of the route was planned below the posted speed limits but you will be responsible for obeying all traffic and civic laws. \n\n\n\nDue to this year’s pandemic\, there will be no post-Rally Award Ceremony\, but final results will be emailed/mailed to you within a few days of completing the course. Winners will be posted at the Niagara County History Center\, 215 Niagara St.\, and in the Erie Canal Discovery Center\, 24 Church St.\, both in Lockport and prizes TBA. Rally Instructions will be mailed/e-mailed to each competitor upon registration\, but your route instructions will be handed to your navigator only four minutes prior to your departure time. DESCRIPTION:A number of years ago the Chicago Region SCCA held a tour-type rally to LaCrosse Wisconsin. Several of the entrants had their private radios with them to communicate with each other as we traversed the tour route. Conversation over the radios was minimal\, then suddenly the silence was broken! A voice came across the airways shouting “goats\, goats\, goats\,” and then it went silent. What we all found out later that day is that a small heard of goats were on the road just past a curve. Apparently the noise from the car and its driver yelling as loud as possible on the radio scared the goats away because no one else observed this obstacle.   \n\n\n\nNow\, we can’t promise you that same level of excitement\, nor do we want you to experience it for yourself on this Chicago Region SCCA Tour.  However\, if you join us this coming Saturday\, May 15\, 2021 the Chicago Region and its G.O.A.T.S. (Get Out and Tour Series) backroads tour series will provide you with an enjoyable day of driving\, using great Wisconsin backroads providing scenic views and plenty of turns and elevation changes. The drive will take approximately 2.5 hours to complete ending in Paoli\, Wisconsin\, where there will be options for lunch and some socializing. Follow a 60-mile circular route on scenic highways and backroads through rural countryside\, from the village of Bethany to the Delaware River\, and back again. And it’s all to benefit Bethany Public Library. \n\n\n\nThis fundraising event\, called Cruising for Clues\, is a cross between a scavenger hunt and a different kind of road rally. The cost to enter is $30 per car. \n\n\n\nRSVPs are requested no later than the day before the event\, Friday\, May 14. To RSVP\, call the Library at 570-253-4349. \n\n\n\nOn Saturday\, May 15\, registration and payment open at 8:15 and close at 9:30 a.m. at the Library. SUMMARY:IL: The Christmas Light Tour Rallye
DESCRIPTION:Do you know where the best Christmas decorations are in the Northwest suburbs of Chicago? We do! And we show them annually at The Christmas Light Tour Rallye\, a benefit for the USMC Toys for Tots. There will be two courses this year: West – Schaumburg\, and East – Lincolnwood. \n\n\n\nWhen? You can run this year’s The Christmas Light Tour Rallye at any time from the 12th of December until Christmas Day. Many teams will choose to run when there is a group on the night of December 12th\, yet you can participate when you please. \n\n\n\nSpectacular Houses! This event has\, in the past\, shown the most spectacular houses in the Schaumburg\, Hoffman Estates\, Elk Grove\, and Arlington Heights areas. We have more for you this year\, too\, as we have a second Tour you can run on the Eastern front to take in Lincolnwood\, Sauganash\, and Edgebrook.  \n\n\n\nSpecial Entry Fee for The Christmas Light Tour Rallye! Because it is a Charity Rally to benefit the USMC Toys for Tots\, the entry cost is $20 per vehicle. Should you have a toy to donate\, we will graciously accept it during the Saturday\, December 12th run. It is not necessary\, but it is fun to give a toy to the cause! \n\n\n\nCOVID-19 Precautions: The plan is to end at Garibaldi’s Italian Eatery\, yet of course\, because of the pandemic\, we don’t know what the endpoint situation will be. Yet you can still go out and enjoy the decorated homes.  \n\n\n\nRegistration: You must Pre-Register! Last year we had over 400 total entries and 170 entries running the night of the event. We can’t possibly handle that number of vehicles again as competitors\, yet you can join as a non-competitor and still run the event. We’ll send all materials to you by the 12th of December\, and you can run it any day or night you wish. It’s fun\, fresh\, and a great activity with family\, friends\, and cohorts! Get ready to put on those sunglasses and be blinded by the lights you will see along the route. SUMMARY:FL: Rookery Bay Road Rally
DESCRIPTION:The Sports Car Club of America\, Florida Region\, is sanctioning this event\, hosted by Friends of Rookery Bay. Proceeds from the Rookery Bay Road Rally support education and conservation at Rookery Bay Research Reserve. The rally starts at 10 am from the Naples Botanical Garden.  \n\n\n\nParticipants in their own vehicles will leave at intervals\, follow route directions\, answer quiz show-style questions\, and end at a fun location. Optional activities plus prizes\, including free passes to Naples Botanical Garden and Rookery Bay Environmental Learning Center for all. Sponsorships are available. Pre-registration required; $40 per vehicle.
