SUMMARY:TX: Back-to-Basics RoadRally Series #2 - Signs and Landmarks
DESCRIPTION:In 2022\, in addition to rallies that we have put on regularly in recent years (e.g.\, Sweetheart Ride\, Tick-Tock\, DFW Map\, Children’s Book Run)\, the Texas Region of the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) will be conducting a series of road rallies and schools.  \n\n\n\nThe Region is designing these to introduce rallying to newcomers and refresh and reinforce key concepts for our more experienced rallyists. This “Back-to-Basics” series will consist of four events of progressive challenge levels staged over several months. These will be SCCA GTA (Games\, Tours\, Adventures) Social Rallies\, about 45-60 miles and 2 ½ – 3 hours long. We will score them and present awards to the most successful. The objective is to conduct events in accordance with the SCCA RoadRally Rules\, starting with simple rules and instructions. Then each succeeding rally will introduce more advanced topics. \n\n\n\nThere will be a virtual Road Rally School\, six days before each rally\, where we will present the rules and instructions for that rally\, demonstrate “how-to\,” and go through applicable examples. Liz Witt\, Rallymaster for the four B2B rallies\, will be your lead instructor. \n\n\n\nThe tentative schedule for the Back-to-Basics (B2B) events is as follows: \n\n\n\nB2B #1 – Focus on General Instructions\, Route Instructions\, Questions• Rally School (via Zoom session): January 9th• Rally: January 15th – Did You SEE That? \n\n\n\nB2B #2 – Focus on Signs and Landmarks• Rally School (via Zoom session): March 13th• Rally: March 19th \n\n\n\nB2B#3 – Focus on Main Road Concepts• Rally School (via Zoom session): May 1st• Rally: May 7th \n\n\n\nB2B#4 – Focus on Roads and Intersections• Rally School (via Zoom session): May 29th• Rally: June 4th \n\n\n\nThe Rally Schools will be conducted via Zoom and recorded for later on-demand viewing. After each rally\, a packet of materials (General Instructions\, Route Instructions\, Question and Answer Sheet\, Explanation/Critique Sheets) will be made available. SUMMARY:MA: Cape Cod Courageous Old Timers' Rally
DESCRIPTION:This “scavenger hunt” of Cape Cod is a low-pressure event. Teams will be supplied with a map and clues to locations all over the Cape. The object is to determine from the clues where these locations are on the map\, plan the shortest route to those locations and\, once at the location\, answer the question(s) and do so by driving the fewest miles possible. Each two-person team chooses its own pace. The distance traveled will be at least 120 miles. Above all\, SCCA New England Region hopes you will have FUN and maybe learn some things about the Cape. \n\n\n\nCheck-In/Registration: Between 7:30 am and 9:30 am. After completing check-in/registration and the odometer check\, you will receive your map and clues\, at which point you can begin the rally. \n\n\n\nEntry Fee: $50.00 per car for SCCA members and past Old Timers’ Rally participants if received by March 31\, 2022. (Note: NO entries on the day of the rally). $60.00 per car for non-SCCA members\, non-past participants\, and late entries. Please allow enough time for us to receive mail entries no later than March 31\, 2022\, as we will not have access to postal mail after that date. \n\n\n\nNote: Rally teams usually consist of one Driver and one Navigator. DESCRIPTION:The Metamora Lioness Lions will hold a Road Rally Scavenger Hunt on Saturday\, April 30. Start and finish are the Metamora Lions Hall\, 3790 N. Oak St. in Metamora. Arrive at 5:30 PM for a 6 PM start. The rally finish is at 10 p.m. \n\n\n\nThe road rally allows participants to test their GPS skills\, answer questions\, solve riddles\, and capture pictures/items along the designated route. The road rally is composed of a series of encrypted messages that need to be solved. Once understood\, each message will direct teams to drive to a specific location where they must find the answer to a question. Each correct answer is worth points. The most points win. \n\n\n\nDrinks and snacks will be provided at the hall from 9-11:30 p.m. Alcohol is BYOB at the after-party. Prizes will be awarded to first\, second and third-place finishers. \n\n\n\nThe maximum is four people per vehicle. DESCRIPTION:The 33rd Annual Get the Dust-Off Rallye will be held on Sunday\, May 1st\, 2022\, and is co-hosted by the SCCA Washington DC Region and MG’s of Baltimore! It will start and finish at Dejon Vineyards! This will be a straightforward Time-Speed-Distance Monte Carlo-style rally of approximately 60 competitive miles\, with no unpaved sections. Timing will be scored to one-one hundredth of a minute (.01). Our 2022 Get the Dust Off Rallye will have no unpaved sections.  \n\n\n\nCLASSES: All vehicles are welcome. Classes will be provided for Historic up to 1981 and modern 1982 and later\, for this Seat-of-the-Pants Rallye (let’s not get too serious about this and have fun). Awards will be based on the number of entrants per class. \n\n\n\nSTART & FINISH: Dejon Vineyards. Bring along your picnic basket lunch and tailgating supplies. A food truck will be available on site. Wine tasting will be provided for entrants (MGOB hand stamp required). \n\n\n\nREGISTRATION: Opens at 10:30 AM. SUMMARY:PA: Monopoly Redux VI GTA Road Rally
DESCRIPTION:Steel Cities Region\, SCCA (western Pennsylvania area) will host its End of Summer Showcase Festival (an ‘all things SCCA’ event) on Saturday\, August 27th\, is the Monopoly Red VI RoadRally. In addition to other SCCA activities such as an autocross\, road races\, and time trials\, there will be a road rally.  \n\n\n\nThe 50 mile\, approximately three-hour afternoon event will start and finish at the Pittsburgh International Race Complex in Wampum\, PA\, just off the Pennsylvania Turnpike Beaver Valley Exit 13\, 45 miles north of Pittsburgh\, PA. \n\n\n\nLike many SportsCar Club of America RoadRally events\, this one will use fun-to-drive paved\, public\, lightly traveled country roads. You will travel below the speed limit searching for the correct signs to move tokens around the Monopoly Game board. The winning team will be the one coming closest to the correct trip around the board. The event will wind its way through tall forests and small towns\, over streams and past large farms north and east of the start. \n\n\n\nNo rally experience or equipment is necessary but you will need a legal car\, a licensed Driver and a Navigator. The entry fee is $30 per car\, and only one member of the team needs an SCCA membership. SUMMARY:PA: Catch 22 - Puzzles and Conundrums
DESCRIPTION:Update October 20th — Fifty-six teams and two buses puzzled their way through some of Adams County most beautiful roads on Saturday\, October 15. A great time was had by all as we drove past 19 preserved properties over 48 miles\, and competed and learned at three fun-filled stops. The Land Conservancy of Adams County has already set Saturday\, October 21st\, 2023 for their 25th Anniversary edition next year.  \n\n\n\n√. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEach year the Land Conservancy of Adams County organizes a Road Rally over lesser-traveled routes in the region. This year\, the 24th Annual Land Conservancy Fall Classic Road Rally\, features a meandering drive through rural Adams County\, highlighting vistas and scenic roads that showcase our beautiful countryside.  \n\n\n\nOn October 15\, Road Rally teams will be delighted and confused as they meander through Adams County on roads less traveled. Teams will be challenged with paradoxical situations with no apparent way out. It’s a logical conundrum where circumstances feed each other and bring you back to square 1. \n\n\n\nWhat came first the chicken or the egg? \n\n\n\n Catch 22 – Puzzles and Conundrums is a fundraiser for LCAC that often leaves participants amazed and with a newfound appreciation for the landscape around us.

DESCRIPTION:The As the Crow Flies is sanctioned by the SCCA Allegheny Highlands Sports Car Club as a GTA Social Rally. The entry fee is $30. \n\n\n\nAs the Crow Flies is a shortest-distance rally\, an untimed RoadRally follows an undefined route. Instead of the usual route instructions and timing controls\, contestants are given a map and a list of waypoints to be visited. Contestants receive penalty points for each 0.10 mile traversed during the rally. Thus\, the goal is to visit all the required sites (waypoints) in the allotted time while traversing the shortest distance possible. These waypoints may be visited in any order of your choosing after leaving the start control and before you arrive at the finish control. Unlimited use of additional maps\, GPS\, Waze\, etc.\, is permitted.  \n\n\n\nThe available roads are all public roads in and bordering Indiana County\, PA. Typical fall foliage and scenery should be superb as you travel on many roads most of you will have never seen before. Each team (minimum of two people) will use their maps and waypoint list to plot a course and may drive at whatever legal speeds are comfortable for them. Three hours are allotted to complete the rally\, but it should take less time. Awards for best overall finishing position(s) and best finishing position of any team with no prior experience with the shortest distance rally. \n\n\n\nIf you prefer a more extended version\, please consider our Ghost Tracks on the same day. Register over at Motorsportreg and try this rally style. \n\n\n\nEntrants can approach the waypoint from any direction and be assured that the transponder provided by the Rally Committee will confirm their arrival at the waypoint. Mileage will be zeroed at the Start Control and frozen at the Finish Control\, having accumulated all of the mileage the transponder has traversed. This total mileage will be the final score after adding a penalty of fifteen miles for each waypoint not attained if applicable. The shortest distance wins.  \n\n\n\nThis will be the first of its kind and requires no equipment\, not even a cell phone. The rally is intended to be a model for other regions to host a rally that requires minimal effort on the part of a Rally Committee. Rallymaster Bruce Gezon strongly believes that the format may become a preferred rally type.

Register for Ghost Tracks at Motorsportreg today and try this rally style. \n\n\n\nEntrants can approach the waypoint from any direction and be assured that the transponder provided by the Rally Committee will confirm their arrival at the waypoint. Mileage will be zeroed at the Start Control and frozen at the Finish Control\, having accumulated all of the mileage the transponder has traversed. This total mileage will be the final score after adding a penalty of fifteen miles for each waypoint not attained if applicable. The shortest distance wins.  \n\n\n\nThis will be the first of its kind and requires no equipment\, not even a cell phone. The rally is intended to be a model for other Regions to host a rally that requires minimal effort on the part of a Rally Committee. Rallymaster Bruce Gezon strongly believes that the format may become a preferred rally type.

This is an ‘Average Joe’ SCCA Social Road Rally that will tour Oklahoma’s former and current permanent road race circuits! \n\n\n\nBeginning at the Cyrus Avery Centennial Plaza parking lot atop Crybaby Hill in Tulsa\, Oklahoma the route will cover Avery Drive (named after the Route 66 icon\, Cyrus Avery)\, most of the hilly\, winding Coyote Trail in west Tulsa County\, make a lap or two of the housing development that used to be the Warbonnet Raceway Park\, followed by a cruise through two 129-year-old towns in south Pawnee County. The rally will end at Hallett Motor Racing Circuit.  \n\n\n\nOnce in the facility\, participants can join in on Hallett’s Veterans Celebration Day where there will be a car show\, food trucks\, the Finish Line indoor cafe will be open and parade laps around the 1.8 mile circuit will be offered at lunch time. The Texas Region of the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) cordially invites all fellow car enthusiasts to Sasha’s Children’s Book Run Rally\, a Trek rally benefiting the Scottish Rite for Children\, one of the nation’s leading pediatric orthopedic centers. All are welcome\, and no prior rally experience is necessary. \n\n\n\nA bit of history: Sasha Lanz was instrumental in building a successful RoadRally program in the SCCA Texas Region and leading it for many years. One of his favorite events was the Children’s Book Run. Entrants were asked to donate two children’s books\, gathered at check-in on Rally Day. Over the six years\, we have held the rally\, hundreds of books were donated to Sottish Rite!  We would like to keep this tradition alive and conduct a Children’s Book Run in his name every year.    \n\n\n\nThis year we plan to conduct the event again as a Trek\, a non-competitive driving event on scenic country roads. No questions\, puzzles\, tricks or traps\, or timed controls\, just a fun drive following a pre-determined route in Collin\, Grayson\, and Denton counties using a “convoy style” format – and a bit of trivia: we’ll pass through 7 towns named after women. We’ll provide basic route instructions as a backup only. Weather permitting\, we’ll stop at one or two places of interest for a group picture. \n\n\n\nEach person in the car is asked to contribute two NEW books for the patients at Scottish Rite. They need books for all ages – 5 through 16 – including Look-and-Find books\, board books\, chapter books\, Spanish-language books\, etc. We will collect the books at registration/check-in. \n\n\n\nWe encourage you to pre-register via this link at Motorsportreg\, where you will find important registration and event details. This helps us plan and have ample copies of the route instructions\, too! \n\n\n\nRegistration/check-in on-site will be open from 10:15 am to 10:45 am\, with a Rally Day Safety Briefing at 10:50 am. Teams leave the start after 11:00 am for the approximately three-hour drive covering 110 miles of countryside.

DESCRIPTION:For the past 32 years\, SCCA Northern New Jersey Region has been hosting this annual event. Over $27\,500 in toys have been donated to the United States Marine Corp Reserve toy drive since the 1st Teddy Bear Rally in 1990. SCCA-NNJR’s Toys for Tots Roadrally is the longest continually run charity event conducted by SCCA. \n\n\n\nThis year’s event will be 55 miles and be a two-and-a-half-hour novice-orientated rally. It will utilize written instructions and photo clues to determine the trophy winners. \n\n\n\nThis is not a timed event. Your ability to follow the course correctly and identify the scenes depicted in the photo clues determines your score. \n\n\n\nNo hard-to-see or tricky questions to answer. \n\n\n\nThe entry fee is a new stuffed animal or unwrapped toy of $35.00 or greater. While stuffed animals will be accepted in 2022\, unwrapped toys are preferred.

Afterward\, the route continues to Paige on Texas 21\, the old King’s Highway\, for a late lunch at the Roadhouse. \n\n\n\nThis route is along US\, state\, and farm-to-market roads.
