SUMMARY:MA: New England Cape Codders Old Timers Regional GTA Rally
DESCRIPTION:The Cape Codders Courageous aka 44th Old Timers’ Rally is a “scavenger hunt” of Cape Cod and a low-pressure event. You will be supplied with a map and clues to locations all over the Cape. The object is to determine from the clues where these locations are on the map\, plan the shortest route to those locations\, once at the location\, answer the question(s)\, and do so driving the fewest miles possible. \nEach two person team chooses its own pace. The distance traveled will be at least 120 miles. Above all it is hoped that you will have FUN and maybe learn some things about the Cape. \nRegistration begins Friday evening 730-9P and will resume Saturday morning 730-930AM. \n\n\n\n\nEntry Fees are $45.00 for SCCA members and past Old Timers’ Rally participants\, if received by March 30\, 2018. (Note: NO entries the day of the rally) and $60.00 for non-SCCA members\, non-past participants\, and all late\nentries. Please allow enough time for us to receive entries no later than April 5th as we will not have access to postal mail after that date. No electronic entries signatures are required. \n\n\n\n\nAlso\, remember this is a low-tech event. Use of GPS\, computers and other Internet connectable devices (PDAs\, Smartphones\, Tablets\, etc.) to locate or answer questions OR to plot the shortest route between questions is NOT allowed. \n\n\n\n\nRooms for both Friday and Saturday nights are being held at the Holiday Inn Hyannis\, Hyannis\, MA\, 02601\, until March 23\, 2018. DESCRIPTION:Come out and enjoy some of the finest back-road driving the Philadelphia-area countryside has to offer. This evening road rally will flow through many of the hills\, valleys and riverside areas that Bucks County has hidden away.\nAlong this rally\, you will encounter gravel roads\, covered bridges\, abundant wildlife\, and many scenic routes. The roads are nearly as twisted as the rallymaster. This rally doesn’t include JUST driving–be prepared for puzzles and trivia. This is going to be one of the more challenging rallies we’ve hosted over the last few seasons and there will be no classes for this event. \nPlease note that this event will be held under Social Rally rules and will not count towards SCCA points. \nRegistration will open at approximately 5:00 PM followed by our mandatory driver meeting at about 5:45 PM (the exact times may be adjusted slightly as the route gets adjusted). \nThis rally will take a little over 2.5 hours to complete and will end up in the vicinity of Ottsville\, PA. \nThere are only 15 spots available for this event\, you want to register right away!

Teams will receive authentic 1953 Mobilgas maps and written instructions about which portions of the original 1100-mile GAMR route to follow. The next morning\, drivers will start their engines\, and navigators will guide them northward through Vermont to the Canadian border\, southward to New Hampshire\, and then back over the Vermont border to the finish line. Rally officials will throw the checkered flag on Sunday\, October 14\, 2018\, at Hemmings Motor News in Bennington\, Vermont. \n“This is an extraordinary event that will celebrate the way rallies used to be\,” said Rally Chairman Steve McKelvie. “Although it’s not a typical rally\, the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) has sanctioned the event as a New England Regional Rally.” \nThe original GAMR\, described in April 1956 by Auto Age as “America’s longest\, toughest\, and coldest rallye\,” was the first U.S. rally listed by Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA). It attracted local amateurs\, top drivers from American car clubs\, automotive factory teams\, and driving celebrities. \nThe Rootes Motors team in 1953 and 1954 entered top British driver Sheila van Damm. In 1954\, Formula 1 racer Stirling Moss competed. In 1956\, F1 Champion Juan Manuel Fangio served as the official starter\, throwing the green flag; and Monte Carlo Rally winner Maurice Gatsonides was a contender. In years past rally teams have had to navigate through cemetaries to find hidden clues\, reach into a screaming victim’s chest\, or worse. There have been haunted locations – like the legendary barn on Pumpkin Ridge or the slaughter house. The slaughter house…they say if you listen on a cold\, crisp October night you can still hear the screams. \nThis year the rally explores Washington County’s farmland and autumn colors. Roads are generally paved with less than 3 miles of unpaved roads. Speeds are reasonable\, a rally is not a race. The rally includes a stop at Lakeview Farms*.  Take the train through Halloween tunnels\, see what lurks beneath the surface when riding the sternwheeler over the lake\, explore the hay maze\, pick up a pumpkin from the pumpkin patch\, and visit the fall harvest gift shop. Lots to do and see at Lakeview Farms. But keep track of the time – you’re still on a road rally! \nThe rally will include both tricks and treats – standard CSCC rally rules apply. DESCRIPTION:Rallymaster Frank Beyer (aka Dr Devio)\, wanted to share 50 years of going out to the backroads of Upstate New York to enjoy his car\, the countryside and rally friends. The Absolute Zero rally was held May 19th to serve as a refresher on rallying before rally computers and GPS\, when everyone ran SOP (seat of the pants).\nThe SCCA Central New York Region will sanction the Route of All Evil (Easier Said Than Done)\, based out of Norwich\, NY. 270 miles of brisk driving\, appropriate to the roads. In the tradition of the Covered Bridge Rally\, we’re using the Vermont Winter Challenge format: Section A has written instructions with some unique route situations\, where you’ll be challenged\, amused and on-course. Section B starts with a highlighted map and finishes with tulips and mileages. Section C is all tulips and mileages. \nTSD experience will be helpful. Standard Equipment Classes with a separate award for best finish using GPS. \nThis event will be by pre-registration only. DESCRIPTION:The Cat 22 Monopoly© RoadRally\, sanctioned by the SCCA Steel Cities Region\, may be run any of the five days at your leisure or on the afternoon of the 30th if you wish to see some of the other cars in competition. All answers must be submitted for those running leisurely by email before 11:00 am on the 30th. \n\n\n\nCat 22 Monopoly© Rally will run on approximately 50 miles of paved roads in Westmoreland County. Scenery is superb as you travel on many roads most of you will have never seen before. Each team (minimum of two people) will use their Route Instructions to follow the course and may drive at whatever legal speeds are comfortable for them. Three hours is allotted for completing the rally but it may take less time. You will observe signs and landmarks along the right hand side of the route to proceed around the Monopoly© game board and total up your money. Scores will be based upon the accuracy of your total at the end. \n\n\n\nRegistration: On Sunday\, December 30th\, registration opens at 12:30P\, located inside Panera Bread on US 22 in Murrysville\, PA. The rally will finish at the same location and Car#1 is anticipated back about 431P. Please thank the Panera Staff for their gracious hospitality in providing a gathering place. \n\n\n\nEntry Fees: The entry fee will be $30 per car\, with 50% of the funds going to the Autism Society of Pittsburgh. We absolutely will not be able to exceed the limit of entrants. \n\n\n\nThis charity road rally will take you through some amazing back roads in Montgomery and Berks Counties to help you scratch that driving itch that builds up during the offseason. Your entry fee will be 10 donation-appropriate food items. \n\n\n\nThis year’s beneficiary will be the Bucks County Housing Group. \n\n\n\nFOOD BANK DONATIONS NEEDED: \n\n\n\n\nProtein: Canned meats such as tuna\, chicken\, and salmon. Beans\, canned or dried. Split peas and lentils. Peanut butter.\n\n\n\nGrain: Pasta\, rice\, or quinoa. Learn to play the game that takes you places. \n\n\n\nThe rally school class starts at 10 a.m. at the North Plains Senior Center. Plan to arrive a bit early to check-in and pick up your materials. \n\n\n\nReview Cascade time-speed-distance road rally rules. Get familiar with the new GPS timing app that simplifies scoring and gives you nearly immediate feedback on your performance. Give your new knowledge a test drive with a practice rally starting about noon and ending a couple of hours later at the Helvetia Tavern.  \n\n\n\nEntry fee: $20 per car for CSCC members\, $30 per car for non-members. The entry fee includes the classroom session and practice rally.

SUMMARY:NY: Oneonta Rotary Club Road Rally Scavenger Hunt
DESCRIPTION:The Oneonta Rotary Club has borrowed a clever fundraising idea that will keep people engaged in a fun activity this Sunday as Rotary holds their first Road Rally Scavenger Hunt Fundraiser on Sunday\, October 18th. \n\n\n\nCars must cross the finish line at the Quality Inn by 4:30 p.m. that day to be eligible for prizes. Teams will be judged on a combination of time\, mileage\, number of clues correctly answered and group photos. All teams are eligible for the Random Draw prize. Teams that dress in costume and/or decorate their cars are eligible to win a Spirit Award. Winners will be announced at the club meeting on October 22 and will be notified by phone. \n\n\n\nPrize winners receive a gas card or other automotive-themed gift certificate or item and the Oneonta Rotary Club will donate a mini-grant in your honor\, to the local community organization of your choice\, selected from the following: Catholic Charities Caring Connections\, Family Services Association\, Opportunities for Otsego Violence Intervention Program\, St. James Feeding Ministries which includes the Lord’s Table and the Loaves and Fishes Pantry\, St. Mary’s Church Food Pantry\, The Salvation Army Food Bank and Saturday’s Bread. Mini-grants range from $50 to $500. \n\n\n\nCost for the Road Rally is $25 for 18 years of age and older; $10 for 12-17; and free for under 12. Each team must consist of at least two adults. Participants will also have the option of purchasing a take home dinner from the Quality Inn which will donate 50% of sales to the Oneonta Rotary Club. \n\n\n\nProceeds from the event benefit the work of the Oneonta Rotary Club. Please note that to make sure that everyone has an enjoyable and safe experience\, all participants must wear a mask and practice appropriate social distancing when out of their vehicles.

DESCRIPTION:The annual Belleville Road Rally is this Saturday\, November 7th. \n\n\n\nSafety measures are being put in place to protect everyone from COVID. There will be NO large group gatherings. The only folks the majority of you will come in contact with are the members of your own car. Clues will only need to be picked up by one member of the car. Of all the stops\, only two are indoor and there will be no requirements to stay.  \n\n\n\nAs always\, if possible\, we ask that you patronize any business that you can – especially during these trying times. Additionally\, we request that masks be worn if you come in contact with anyone outside of your vehicle. As for game pieces – all cars will be provided a couple of pairs of latex gloves to use when grabbing each piece. \n\n\n\nSo pack your snacks\, charge your phones\, and meet in the Sugar River Lanes parking lot on Saturday morning. DESCRIPTION:A knock out\, crazy fun event where you solve puzzles that lead you to locations to look for a secret hidden word. No rally experience is necessary. Just an all out puzzle quest. \n\n\n\nThe Famous Puzzler Rallye has drawn over 1000 participants since its inception and has donated over $25\,000 to worthwhile charities. We will continue that tradition and handover 90% of all proceeds to worthwhile charitable organizations from this year’s event.  \n\n\n\nYou solve a puzzle\, then drive to the point on the map with the corresponding number of the puzzle answer. Once there\, you look for hidden clues. The one that gets the most puzzles and clues correct wins! A first time rallyists won one year\, so everyone has a legitimate chance. \n\n\n\nThe Pre-Registration entry fee is $25 and is encouraged\, so click here and Register today! Registration at Garibaldi’s Italian Eatery is at Noon on the day of the event and it will be $30. The cars start departing at 1:00 pm. Limited entries are available\, so Pre-Register today! \n\n\n\nDue to COVID restrictions\, the endpoint may not be available this year.
