SUMMARY:TX: Texas Region Sasha's Children's Book Run Rally
DESCRIPTION:Join the SCCA Texas Region as we close our 2022 Rally season\, supporting a good cause while honoring Sasha Lanz! The Texas Region of the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) cordially invites all fellow car enthusiasts to Sasha’s Children’s Book Run Rally\, a Trek rally benefiting the Scottish Rite for Children\, one of the nation’s leading pediatric orthopedic centers. All are welcome\, and no prior rally experience is necessary. \n\n\n\nA bit of history: Sasha Lanz was instrumental in building a successful RoadRally program in the SCCA Texas Region and leading it for many years. One of his favorite events was the Children’s Book Run. Entrants were asked to donate two children’s books\, gathered at check-in on Rally Day. Over the six years\, we have held the rally\, hundreds of books were donated to Sottish Rite!  We would like to keep this tradition alive and conduct a Children’s Book Run in his name every year.    \n\n\n\nThis year we plan to conduct the event again as a Trek\, a non-competitive driving event on scenic country roads. No questions\, puzzles\, tricks or traps\, or timed controls\, just a fun drive following a pre-determined route in Collin\, Grayson\, and Denton counties using a “convoy style” format – and a bit of trivia: we’ll pass through 7 towns named after women. We’ll provide basic route instructions as a backup only. Weather permitting\, we’ll stop at one or two places of interest for a group picture. \n\n\n\nEach person in the car is asked to contribute two NEW books for the patients at Scottish Rite. They need books for all ages – 5 through 16 – including Look-and-Find books\, board books\, chapter books\, Spanish-language books\, etc. We will collect the books at registration/check-in. \n\n\n\nWe encourage you to pre-register via this link at Motorsportreg\, where you will find important registration and event details. This helps us plan and have ample copies of the route instructions\, too! \n\n\n\nRegistration/check-in on-site will be open from 10:15 am to 10:45 am\, with a Rally Day Safety Briefing at 10:50 am. Teams leave the start after 11:00 am for the approximately three-hour drive covering 110 miles of countryside.

SUMMARY:IN: Holiday Shopping Shuffle GTA Road Rally
DESCRIPTION:Our mission\, on the Holiday Shopping Shuffle GTA Road Rally\, is to gather food for a holiday meal and be back at the time that the Rallymaster says we should be back. The catch is that each item must come from a different town. To make it a little easier\, the Rallymaster gives us tasks to complete along the way that can extend the time when we have to be back. \n\n\n\nThis is a fun event and to make it even better\, the registration fee is waived if you bring a new\, unwrapped toy to donate. (Non-members will still need to pay the $10 weekend membership fee for insurance purposes.) Please remember to bring a little bit of money to purchase food items. All food items will be donated to a local food pantry after the rally.

SUMMARY:NJ: SCCA Northern New Jersey 32nd Teddy Bear Rally
DESCRIPTION:For the past 32 years\, SCCA Northern New Jersey Region has been hosting this annual event. Over $27\,500 in toys have been donated to the United States Marine Corp Reserve toy drive since the 1st Teddy Bear Rally in 1990. SCCA-NNJR’s Toys for Tots Roadrally is the longest continually run charity event conducted by SCCA. \n\n\n\nThis year’s event will be 55 miles and be a two-and-a-half-hour novice-orientated rally. It will utilize written instructions and photo clues to determine the trophy winners. \n\n\n\nThis is not a timed event. Your ability to follow the course correctly and identify the scenes depicted in the photo clues determines your score. \n\n\n\nNo hard-to-see or tricky questions to answer. \n\n\n\nThe entry fee is a new stuffed animal or unwrapped toy of $35.00 or greater. While stuffed animals will be accepted in 2022\, unwrapped toys are preferred.

SUMMARY:TX: Sweetheart Ride Road Rally
DESCRIPTION:The Texas Region of the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) invites you to join us for Jerry White’s annual Valentine’s Day-themed Sweetheart Ride Road Rally. It will be about a 90-mile drive on some of the scenic hard surfaced country roads in Johnson and Ellis Counties. All are welcome and no prior rally experience is necessary. \n\n\n\nThe challenge is to see how many correct puzzle solutions (many with a sweetheart theme) you can find based on signs and objects along the rally route. Puzzles can have from zero (0) to four (4) correct solutions. Think of it as a visual scavenger hunt. Google Forms will be used to display the route instructions and puzzles and to collect and score you and your sweetheart’s/navigator’s solutions. To use a Google Form you will need a browser on a smartphone\, tablet or laptop computer that can connect to the Internet via Wi-Fi or cellular data. In addition\, you will need a separate smartphone to run the Richta GPS Competitor app. It will use GPS signals to monitor your time and course and to tell you when to stop working on a puzzle and/or when to prepare to do the next route instruction.  \n\n\n\nYou should also participate in the February 11th Zoom Rally School (or watch the recording of it) and visit roadrally.page to help prepare for the rally.  \n\n\n\n\nAwards: First Timers\, Novices (every person in the vehicle has won 2 or less rally trophies)\, and General Class. Optional Master Class – no trophies awarded.\n\n\n\nStart at: Fat Daddy’s Sports & Spirits Café\, 781 Debbie Lane\, Mansfield\, TX\n\n\n\nFinish at: Spring Creek Barbeque\, 1724 U.S. 287 Frontage Rd\, Mansfield\, TX (approximately 0.75 miles east of Fat Daddy’s)\n\n\n\nRegistration/Check-In: 11:15am – noon.\n\n\n\nMandatory Safety Briefing: 12:10pm.\n\n\n\nCar 1 receives the code that will allow them to submit their Google Forms: 12:21pm (Car 2\, 12:22pm\, etc.).\n\n\n\nThere will be at least one rest break at a gas station along the course.\n\n\n\nFirst car should finish at Spring Creek Barbeque around 4:30pm; results to be announced and trophies awarded around 5:30pm.\n\n\n\nVehicles: Sports cars\, family sedans\, pickup trucks\, SUV’s and anything else with 4 wheels that’s street legal (bring something that you will be comfortable in and will have fun driving on back roads and byways\, many of which are oil & chip). Speed is not a factor.\n\n\n\nAt least two people (a driver and a navigator) are required in each car; contact rally@texasscca.org if you have a minor child (<18) in the car\, as a form will need to be signed.\n\n\n\nSCCA membership requirements: at least one SCCA Member required in each car\, either regular/annual Member or Weekend Member; if not currently a Member\, you will be able to become a Weekend Member during online pre-registration\n\n\n\nRally entry fee: regular SCCA Members $28; Weekend Members $40 (includes membership fee). You must preregister on MotorsportReg.com.\n\n\n\nContact the Rallymaster Jerry White should you have any questions.\n\n\n\n\nCome on out and discover what game/tour/adventure (GTA) rallying is all about! \n\n\n\nAll entrants must preregister – no same-day registration allowed – and you are advised to preregister as early as possible. Go to MotorsportReg.com: http://msreg.com/SRRR23msr. The Rally Committee reserves the right to limit entries.

SUMMARY:TX: Come and Take It Road Rally
DESCRIPTION:The Lone Star Region of the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) would like to invite you to join us for the Come and Take It Road Rally. This rally is to honor the 32 Texican volunteers who left Gonzales on 27 February 1836 for the Alamo during the Texas Revolution. Two days later the detachment entered the Alamo which was commanded by William Barrett Travis and Jame Bowie. Except of Travis’s boyhood friend\, James B. Bonham\, who arrived later that day\, these heroes were the last men to enter the Alamo before it was over whelmed by Mexican forces under President/General Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna on March 6 and all of the defenders were killed. This road rally will follow the approximate path of these doomed men from Gonzales to San Antonio (Bexar) but in reverse. \n\n\n\nOn the day of the event\, 25 February 2023\, participants will meet at Dellcrest Plaza in southeast San Antonio at 1:00 PM. After completing a safety briefing\, the rally will began the 90 minute rally at 2:01 PM. The route will visit Martinez\, New Berlin before skirting Seguin and entering Gonzales from the south. The destination is the Gonzales Food Market on Hero’s Square in Gonzales where the group will sample the award winning BBQ and discuss more local history before voting on awards. \n\n\n\nEarly Registration will be through MotorsportReg.com. The price is $25.00 per car regardless of the number of occupants. Children are welcomed but insurance requires that minor children\, under 18\, must have an SCCA Minor Waiver signed by both parents. Each car must have a Driver and a Navigator and each car must have a current inspection sticker and proof of insurance. People who register through MotorsportReg.comwill find the waiver form (must be printed it in color) and may pay online. People may also register by contacting Ken McElroy via contact information below and then pay at the event or just by showing up at Dellcrest Plaza and paying as they fill out the paper work there.

SUMMARY:PA: Choose Your Own Citrus Road Rally\, Part II Revenge of the Stone Fruit
DESCRIPTION:Inspired by the nationally-known (but in no way affiliated) Lemons Rally\, the Choose Your Own Citrus Road Rally\, Part II Revenge of the Stone Fruit is designed to provide an enjoyable drive through the countryside while conducting a Scavenger Hunt. This “Rally” is a social event and is not based on accurate time and distance – in fact\, each team picks their own route to maximize points the way that suits each team the best. Scoring is based on the ability of the team to use clues to find target locations\, while leaving enough time to finding their own way to the finish location in the allotted time frame. Each team will be provided with a packet with rules and instructions on how to post pictures on Instagram to mark way-points and collect points. Someone on your team needs an Instagram account for your team to get points! This is a great opportunity to get younger family members involved in a driving activity. This event will take place rain or shine. Only extreme weather conditions warrant cancellation. \n\n\n\nA Road Rally is not a race! OBEY ALL TRAFFIC LAWS. The roads are challenging\, sharp curves\, steep climbs and wildlife crossings all combined with an unknown route. The driver and navigator must work together to stay alert while looking for clues. Speed does not improve the score. Bring water for the team\, and fuel up when you can there isn’t any sweep car…it’s up to the team to make it back \n\n\n\nEvent requirements\n\n\n\nREGISTRATION \n\n\n\nRegister here for $45. All licensed drivers are welcome to participate! Once registered\, make sure that your name shows up on the entry list to confirm your entry.  Walk-ups will NOT be accepted. An SCCA membership is required for insurance purposes. For all drivers that are not annual SCCA members\, weekend memberships are required and can be purchased during online registration. All passengers that are non-SCCA members will have to sign up for a trial membership at no additional cost. We will have trial membership form on site.  \n\n\n\nEVENT OVERVIEW \n\n\n\nThis is a GTA/Social Road Rally. There are no points towards any championship. \n\n\n\nThere are many variations of Road Rally—this is a “social” rally\, which does not require participants to track time and accurate distance. Instead\, each vehicle has a navigator who will read directions and figure out the best route\, and the driver will follow the instructions. The goal is to drive and find the best route to maximize points. At the end of the rally\, there will be a small award ceremony where winners will be announced. \n\n\n\nThe intention is to have a pleasant Saturday drive\, following the speed limits and all local laws. Enjoy yourself\, enjoy the view and spot some random stuff \n\n\n\nAdditional Notes of Importance: \n\n\n\n\nThe official instructions will be provided at the check-in at on-site registration; you get to determine your own route.\n\n\n\nEach team should have a pencil or pen (and perhaps a clip board) to record stuff and things at this event.\n\n\n\nVehicles will depart the start point at after the driver meeting.\n\n\n\nEach team will need an Instagram account\n\n\n\nThere will be no checkpoints along the route to verify that participants are on the correct route.\n\n\n\nWarning: don’t play follow the leader! Or do\, the other team could be doing something dumb.\n\n\n\nEach car/team will need a mascot that must be included in all photographs/Instagram posts of way-points/checkpoints for scoring purposes\n\n\n\nMascot should be a handheld item to represent the team\n\n\n\nEach team should bring a Hot Wheels or Matchbox car for the judges (it could help your score).\n\n\n\nThis is NOT a race; ALL traffic laws must be followed.\n\n\n\nSpeeding ticket will disqualify you from this event.\n\n\n\n\nREQUIREMENTS \n\n\n\nYou must show your valid driver’s license. If you are not an SCCA member\, a weekend membership form must be completed via MotorsportReg.com for $15. Other team members/navigators that are not SCCA members will need to fill out a trial membership form on site \n\n\n\nDriver qualifications:  \n\n\n\n\nA valid driver’s license and a car\n\n\n\nCapable of listening to the navigator or team or pack of wolves and remembering what they were told about why they are driving around South Central PA\n\n\n\n\nTeam qualifications: \n\n\n\n\nSome organizational ability (to handle the paperwork and keep track of route instructions)\n\n\n\nNot prone to motion sickness while reading in the car (if you do get motion sick\, taking medicine prior to the event often allows you to still enjoy the event)\n\n\n\nAbility to post to Instagram\n\n\n\nSome light googling\n\n\n\n\nNotes: \n\n\n\n\nNumber of passengers in the vehicle must not exceed the legal passenger capacity for the vehicle.\n\n\n\n\nEVENT VENUE AND TIMETABLE \n\n\n\nCheck-in: Hickory Bridge Restaurant \n\n\n\n\n9:30AM: Registration opens\n\n\n\n10:00AM: Registration closes and Driver’s meeting\n\n\n\n10:15ishAM: Vehicles begin rally\n\n\n\n3:30PM: Finish Location \n\n\n\n4:00PM: Sharing of food and tall tales of the road  \n\n\n\n5:00PM (or earlier): Results and award ceremony\n\n\n\n6:00PM (or earlier) Please help tear down and clean up!\n\n\n\n\nFinal Destination: will be in the rally packet  \n\n\n\nGeneral Scoring Tips \n\n\n\nThese things could help you points \n\n\n\n\nthemes (costume for you or your car)\n\n\n\nsafe\, legal wackiness that makes the judges laugh

SUMMARY:IN: Dogwood Daze Tour Rally
DESCRIPTION:The Dogwood Daze Road Rally\, sanctioned by the SCCA Indianapolis Region\, is a time speed distance rally designed specifically for beginners\, but fun for non-beginners as well. This is a Tour-style rally that uses the Richta GPS Competitor App for timing. No tricky route instructions — just follow the instructions given to you. At each restart point you will re-zero your trip odometer and leave at the beginning of the next minute. After you leave the restart point\, the App will tell you what time you started. Simply drive a few miles per hours above the speed given in the instructions or you can add the leg time given in your route instructions to the app restart time and you will know the exact time that you need to arrive at the next control. It is quite possible for Novices to  score well\, and\, if you just want a nice drive in the country that ends with food and comradeship\, this event provides that as well. \n\n\n\n$40/car ($15 discount for SCCA members) \n\n\n\n1:00-1:30 PM   Registration (waivers and weekend member forms will be in registration packets) \n\n\n\n1:45 PM  Mandatory Safety Meeting \n\n\n\n2:00 PM + Car Number  Start of Rally \n\n\n\n5:00 PM + Car Number   Should arrive at end point  \n\n\n\nItems Needed: \n\n\n\n\nStreet legal car\n\n\n\nTwo people in the car (driver and navigator)\n\n\n\nPen/pencil/highlighter\n\n\n\nClipboard\n\n\n\nDedicated cell phone or GPS enabled tablet for checkpoint scoring\n\n\n\nOdometer/GPS or some other way to calculate your mileage\n\n\n\nCalculator might be helpful\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis is an SCCA RoadRally that requires a street legal vehicle with both a driver and a navigator in the vehicle. Additional passengers are allowed\, but there must be at least 2 individuals in the vehicle. Either (or both) the Driver and Navigator must be an SCCA member or Weekend Member.

SUMMARY:IL: The "Bob Phillips" Memorial CHEESE Road Rally
DESCRIPTION:The SCCA Blackhawk Valley Region presents The Bob Phillips Memorial CHEESE Road Rally on Saturday\, May 6\, 2023. Join your fellow car enthusiasts for this 4-hour\, 80-mile poker-hand Road Rally! Be a part of BVR restarting its Road Rally program with the CHEESE Road Rally. \n\n\n\nBob Phillips was a long-time BVR member and Rally competitor. He was the Rallymaster for many\, many CHEESE Rallies before he passed. It was initially called the Ides of CHEESE Rally and was run in March\, with Awards being chunks of great Wisconsin Cheese. BVR is pleased to honor him as we restart our rally program. \n\n\n\nTeams of a Driver and a Navigator will be issued a set of Route Instructions that will take you on a scenic drive through the marvelous country roads in Northern Illinois and Southern Wisconsin.   \n\n\n\nThis is a ‘Tour’ type rally\, and there are no timing\, route traps\, or tricks – drive\, and enjoy the great roads and country scenery. This rally is designed especially for people with little or no rally experience. The course can be traversed at rally speeds with standard precautions and observing all typical traffic regulations and rules of the road. \n\n\n\nThe object of the rally is to follow the prescribed route and arrive at each checkpoint so you may make a card draw from a deck of cards. \n\n\n\nCheckpoints will be set up along the way to monitor how well you are following the route and allow you to draw a card for your team’s Poker Hand. The rally ends in Monroe\, where Awards will be presented to the teams with the best Poker Hands.   \n\n\n\nPre-registration is required for the rally. Entry fees are $30 per car for SCCA Members and $35 per car for our fellow motorsport enthusiasts. You may have up to four people in the car\, yet you need a minimum of two. All are welcome\, yet Minors (those under 18) must have Minor Waivers done prior\, and you’ll find information on the registration site. Reach out to Rallymaster Tim Marx for more details! \n\n\n\n9:30 – 10:30 AM Check-in Opens10:30 AM Competitors Meeting11:00 AM Competitors Start on Route3:00 PM (Approx) All Competitors should be finished with the Route

SUMMARY:NY: Do It Again RoadRally
DESCRIPTION:The SCCA Finger Lakes Region invites you to join them for a little Spring Rally fun\, with its Do It Again RoadRally. It is a Social Rally and not apart of any series or serious points race. \n\n\n\nHere are the details: \n\n\n\n\nYou follow the course\, maintaining speeds below the posted speed limit.\n\n\n\nAs you follow the route\, you will be timed at locations unknown to you. All checkpoints will be closed (you do not stop at them.)\n\n\n\nThe course is approximately 31 miles and should take about 56 minutes to complete.\n\n\n\nTeams then repeat the course route at 2:00+car #.\n\n\n\nFor the second time around the route\, checkpoint signs will be out where the cars are timed again. The score will be how close the minute and hundredths is to the time you passed on the first loop (if you did it the first time\, you should be able to do it a second time\, right?)\n\n\n\nIf you take a TA on the second passage\, text it to the phone number on the routes with a mileage where it occurred. Once a TA is taken\, the TA time applies for the rest of the second loop.\n\n\n\nCars will have a window chalk or magnetic number on each side of the car so the checkpoint worker can identify the car as it passes.\n\n\n\nRoutes would be handed out to the teams at Registration\, at the event.\n\n\n\nThere will be a brief Driver’s meeting at 12:45\, before the event.\n\n\n\nThe results will be calculated after the event and also emailed to all competitors in case you have to leave.\,\n\n\n\nWe will do results at the finish as quickly as we can so we can share rally stories and enjoy some after event camaraderie.\n\n\n\n\nClasses:    Experienced (if any team member has done more than 5 rallies)    Novice (new to rally where neither team member has done more than 5 rallies) \n\n\n\nRegistration is online with MotorsportReg and you can click here for more information\, too. SUMMARY:WI: Escape To Wisconsin Navigational Scatter
DESCRIPTION:The SCCA Land of Lakes Region’s first Navigational Scatter (NavScat). For SCCA purposes\, it is sanctioned as a GTA (Games Touring Adventure). After this scatter rally\, we will be caravaning to Wisconsin Dells on our way to our final destination\, the Badger Burrow Divisional Tour\, in Fitchburg\, WI\, on Sunday. If you plan to run Badger Burrow\, you must pre-register\, as It fills quickly. \n\n\n\nNavigational Scatters were created to provide a rally challenge without the burden of staying on time.We track your progress using the MiRally transponders. Your course is converted to driving distance via GPS and Google Maps. This distance is how you will be scored. \n\n\n\nThere are several locations to visit. Plot the shortest route that takes you by all of them. Although a map will be provided\, you may use any device you want to aid you\, including online mapping. Google Maps is helpful but does not always give the shortest route. The route between the points offers many options. \n\n\n\nYou’ll have three hours and 20 minutes from the time you check in until the time you check in at the endpoint. This includes some extra time in case you make mistakes along the way. Your score is the total miles from start to end. There is a 30-mile penalty for each one you miss. \n\n\n\nYou will be asked to select a Class. No classes exist for the Escape to Wisconsin Navigational Scatter; your selection will be used for the SCCA LOL Championship. Head over to Motorsportreg and sign up today! \n\n\n\nYou are responsible for ensuring the following are in order:Headlights (high and low beams) and parking lightsTaillights and brake lightsHorn\, windshield wipers\, and directional signalsRear-view mirrorFoot brakes and parking brakeTires (inspect for the condition of sidewalls as well as tread)Seat belts\, securely installed for the driver and navigatorSafety triangle (optional)First Aid Kit (optional)Tow Rope (optional)Fire Extinguisher (optional)

SUMMARY:TX: Moontower 2023 RoadRally
DESCRIPTION:In 1884 and 1885\, Austin\, Texas\, was terrorized by a series of murders\, mainly of servant girls. Seven women\, five black\, and one man were killed. Six women and two men were injured. The eight killings are one of the earliest recorded serial murders\, predating the infamous Jack the Ripper by three years. The killer was never identified\, but the husband of one victim was found guilty but was later exonerated. For more information\, read the Steven Saylor novel\, A Twist at the End. \n\n\n\nThe city of Austin began looking for better ways to illuminate the city to ward off further killings. In 1894\, the city bought 31 artificial Moontowers from the city of Detroit. Tradition said that the 31 original Moontowers were installed in the shape of a Texas Star. The 165-foot towers originally had carbon-arc light bulbs which had to be lit each night and turned off each morning by a watchman who had to ascend to the top of each tower. Each tower illuminated a 1\,500-foot radius. \n\n\n\nElectricity was supplied by the new electric generators in the Austin Dam site at the present-day Tom Miller Dam. In the 1920s\, arc lamps were replaced with incandescent lamps\, which were replaced in the 1930s with mercury vapor lamps. During World War II\, a central switch automated turning all of the lamps on and off to assist with city-wide “blackouts.” Today\, the towers house LED lights. \n\n\n\nIn 1976 the Moontowers were inducted into the National Register of Historic Places. In 1995\, the remaining towers were carefully restored for their 100th anniversary. \n\n\n\nOn the event day\, Saturday\, 17 June 2023\, participants will meet at the parking lot at the corner of 51st and Lamar. Registration will be from 1:00 to 2:00 PM\, with a safety briefing at 1:45 PM. After the safety briefing\, cars will be released for the route\, which takes place on city streets. Our destination is The Moontower Saloon at 10212 Mencheca Road in South Austin. \n\n\n\n Early Registration will be through MotorsportReg.com. The price is $30.00 per car\, regardless of the number of occupants. Children are welcome\, but insurance requires that minors under 18 must have the official Minor Waiver signed by both parents. Each car must have a Driver and a Navigator\, and each must have a current vehicle inspection sticker and proof of insurance. People who register through MotorsportReg.com will find the Minor Waiver form (please print it in color) and may pay online. People may also register by contacting Ken McElroy and then pay at the event or at the parking lot at 61st and Lamar and pay as they fill out the paperwork there. \n\n\n\nThis route is along paved city roads\, but there are some fierce speed bumps. Along the way\, you will see hidden portions of Austin and be given items of local history\, and you might even be asked to answer questions about the route. \n\n\n\nIf you experience symptoms of COVID immediately before the event\, your money will be refunded. \n\n\n\nThe GOAL of the SCCA is to Have Fun with Cars! \n\n\n\nEvent Requirements\n\n\n\n1. Each car must have a Driver with a valid driver’s license\, \n\n\n\n2. Each car must have a Navigator who can read English. \n\n\n\n3. Each car must have a current vehicle registration sticker and proof of insurance. \n\n\n\n4. Minor Children (<18) are welcome but must have a Minor Waiver signed by both parents. The Waiver must be printed in color.
