St. Louis Region Rally School #2
Saturday, June 1st
Description: Rally School #2 is the second event of the St. Louis Region’s 2024 five-event Novice Series, which will introduce teams to the basic conventions of SCCA rallying. The series is open to new teams and returning or occasional teams seeking to refresh their rally skills. Each school event will focus on a particular aspect of road rallying, building on the preceding event. Teams may run all five events or only those that suit their schedules.
The five events of the series are April 27, June 1, June 29, July 27, and August 24. Registration for each event normally opens three weeks before the event’s date.
Start and finish: Sunset Overlook, 11604 Bluff Road, Columbia, Ill.
Size of the field: We are limiting each field to 20 teams.
Registration: Pre-event registration is only available at MotorsportReg.com. Entries for STL Rally School #2 are accepted on a first-come basis. Registration closes Wednesday, May 29th, at 11:59 p.m.
What you need:
Entry fee: $25.00 per team for SCCA teams and $45.00 per team for non-member teams. An SCCA team is defined as a team in which at least one participant is an SCCA member. The $45.00 entry fee for a non-member team includes a $20.00 SCCA Weekend Membership for the team’s “primary entrant,” i.e., the member who pays the entry fee. The other member of a non-SCCA team will receive a free SCCA Trial Membership (as will any non-SCCA member of an SCCA team).

Good things to know: As indicated above, we will use the Competitor – Richta GPS Checkpoint app for timing and scoring. To compete, each participating team must have a smartphone or tablet with active data cellular service (no airplane mode and no Wi-Fi-only devices) and the Richta Competitor App installed. The app will report your arrival time and leg score to your cellphone or tablet moments after you pass each GPS checkpoint location. To download the app, search for “Competitor Richta” or “Richta GPS Competitor App” at Google Play or Apple’s App Store. For more information about the Richta GPS system, visit https://richtarally.com.
The SCCA Detroit Region’s rally page has an excellent summary of the Richta system, especially its Competitor App. Visit http://drscca.org/rally/using-the-richta-competitor-app. It is worth your time.
About the St. Louis Region, SCCA: The SCCA’s St. Louis Region, with some 600 members, offers Road Racing, Performance Driving Experience (PDE), RallyCross, RoadRally, Solo (autocross), and Street Survival School programs to educate and provide safe environments for individuals to enjoy their street-legal (daily driver) cars and purpose-built racecars. The Region is home to more than 80 National Champions and has been recognized four times by the Sports Car Club of America as the Region of the Year in its member category. To learn more about the St. Louis Region, visit www.stlscca.org.
Rules and Waivers:
The standard SCCA rules regarding road rallies will be observed. To wit: proof of valid driver’s license and current auto insurance, vehicle inspection (self-inspection by the rally team), and signing of applicable SCCA forms.
All participants will be required to read and sign the standard SCCA waiver before being allowed to participate in this event. The signing of the SCCA “Release and Waiver of Liability, Assumption of Risk and Indemnity Agreement” is a precondition to participating in any SCCA event. Any adult 18 or older must sign the waiver.
Minor Participants: A Minor taking part in this event must have an Annual Minor Waiver on file with the SCCA for the current calendar year, i.e., 2024.
The Age of Majority is 18 except in Alabama and Nebraska, where it is 19, and Mississippi, where it is 21.
The Annual Minor Waiver will be issued to the Minor by the SCCA National Office. For more information about this process, click on the following document and see the section “Minor Annual Waivers”: Digital Annual Waiver 12-01-2021.pdf.
Before obtaining an “Annual Waiver Minor” for a child, non-member parents/guardians, as well as the Minor in question, must obtain an SCCA Guest Account.
1. Log onto scca.com.
2. Click “Join/Renew” in the information bar at the top of the page.
3. Click on “Create a Guest Account.”
4. Click on “I don’t have a Member ID.”
5. Complete the required information.
Once you, as parents or guardians, have received your Guest Accounts, you can begin the process of acquiring an Annual Minor Waiver for your child. See again the document noted above: Digital Annual Waiver 12-01-2021.pdf.
Do not wait until the last minute to obtain an Annual Minor Waiver for your Minor child/participant. SCCA staff are normally not available after regular business hours or on weekends, so a last-minute Waiver request cannot be processed before the start of this road rally. Without a valid waiver, your Minor will not be allowed to participate.
Finally, please read carefully:
