Many of you are probably wondering about dates for the Great American Mountain Rally Revival aka GAMRR 2024. We have decided to take a break for this year.
We will not be running the GAMRR in 2024, which comes with mixed emotions. However, after five fantastic years and thousands of miles of rallying through some of the most beautiful roads in New England, we felt it was a good time to take a step back.
I want to thank all the participants who have made this event what it is: three great days of cars and friends. Over the years, I have met many people I now consider my friends; I assume those of you who have been attending over the years feel the same.
Thank you to those who have helped (and taught) me how to put on what I call a three-day rolling event that is not so different from a wedding.
John Buffum: Thanks so much for your patience working with this rally rookie and for sharing your incredible wealth of knowledge and experience. We got to know each other pretty well while tooling around the back roads of New England. It truly was the experience of a lifetime. Thanks!
Joe Salvatto (aka cousin Joe): Never having rallied in your life, but always open to a new adventure. We had a blast doing the initial recce & layout of the last three years. Did we get lost? Oh yeah; a few times, I could swear I heard Dueling Banjos playing! You definitely kept me calm during some of the craziness that went on, and your organizational skills were so good that I didn’t have to worry about the tasks you managed for me. Thanks, Joe!
Scott Sislane: A chance meeting because of a free BMW 2002 transmission you advertised and offered me turned into a great opportunity and friendship. It turned out that Scott owned Calico Graphics, a small printing shop in Wolfeborough, New Hampshire. He is also a real car guy, so our meeting over a beer turned to me talking about GAMRR, and from that day forward, Scott and his crew have provided all the Swag for our events. Scott, it was great to have you on the GAMRR team. Thanks!
We will revisit things at the end of the year and see where we go for 2025. Please check our Facebook page for information later this year.
Cheers,
Gary Hamilton – Rally Chairman
John Buffum – Clerk of the course
Joe Salvatto – Chief Cook and Bottle Washer
Scott Sislane – Supply Officer
